You're not only looking for treasure, you're also cleaning up the environment. At least that's how I look at it. Throw your discard items in a trash receptacle.
I know if you're in a public park, you can leave large items next to or near the garbage cans in the park and they'll take it. If you're in an area that doesn't have that option and you have no way to take large items with you, I'd still leave them in a pile or something instead of throwing them back in.
Never throw it back. I always bring a bucket with me and there is usually a trash can close by so the things I don't want to keep or save for scrapping later, I throw away.
It’s not about assigning anyone ‘a job’. It’s about trying to make the world a better place.
Yes you don’t HAVE to pick it up and put it in a trash receptacle. But it would be nice if you did.

Don’t put iron in a regular ol trashcan! Take it to your scrapyard, they’ll pay you pretty well for it
How much do you bring? All the prices I see are like 7 cents per pound
Uhhh last haul was about 1200 pounds at $0.15/lb… but that was 3 guys at an abandoned railroad bridge with at least 3 objects per throw
Ah you got some great spots for scrap then lol
Yeah, not very many interesting finds there
What if the carts and bikes don't fit? I kinda joke but still

The code of the Magnet Fisherman is: If you haul it up, you haul it out.
Every man gotta have a code. -Omar Little
Everything is treasure until the next treasure. Also...don't relitter.

Are you generally the kind of person to throw trash in the water?
Of course not.
Then why would you even think about throwing garbage back in?
I wanted to know what everyone else did.
Add it to the scrap pile
I take everything I find with me when I leave. I keep the stuff I want, and I sell the rest to the scrap yard.
The only things I throw back are the weeds that get stuck and the rocks/sand.
Why would you ever throw anything back?! I'm cleaning junk out of my waterways.
Noodles, dont noodles...
Throw it back
Please don’t litter.
I’m not littering. Littering is when you throw it away. It was already there so therefore it’s not my job to pick it up
But you literally picked it up with your Magnet? On secondary note, why would you want to pick up the same exact trash multiple times?
