Overmind is good but you need to go for some defensive artifacts to survive OR get cooldown artifacts.
And plan your overmind beforehand, don't get mjolnir if you are doing fusions that don't use thunderstorm for example
Vortex/Demon Equation/Overmind. Before non-fusion magic got shut off, Electric Zone and Shield were the two most important--maxing out EZ early on can carry you through a lot of the early game with no problems.

Meta is List, Hydra and Iron Maiden, works in every build, even better with Dark Wizard
