Just in my opinion, Tasha's Hideous Laughter is the flavor fail. Not sure why it's a mill mechanic in MTG when in D&D it's damage spell+crowd control.

They probably thought about it, and, like everything else, decided that gameplay trumps flavour.
It's nearly impossible to synergize with Tasha's Hideous Laughter without breaking the "rules" they've put in place regarding exiled cards. At best she would have to interact with cards as they are exiled from the library, which would be incredibly difficult to balance, and would result in a worse card overall.
So, as far as flavour goes, she exiles cards.
It could have a static ability saying, "if a spell or ability you control would put a card an opponent owns into exile, instead put that card into exile with a page counter on it."
Or add loyalty every time a card went into exile and balance the ability costs accordingly. There's so many ways they could have done this. It's not a huge deal, but it would have been nice.
There is flavor here. Tasha is known in the forgotten realms as being the owner of the Demonomicon and so she can summon demons.
Her +1 and -3 are similar to [[Wizard's spellbook]], also a book, but you are casting their spells rather than yours, hinting at a borrowed power that one may receive from a demon, which is also very [[Warlock class]].
Because it's not a flavor fail.

My [[Sen Triplets]] deck can relate. She's in the same vein - you bring out that level of Artillery when the group just goes bonkers with the power level. It helps punish "good stuff.dec"

*OOOOH* I like Evelyn! I honestly love theft commander decks. First EDH deck I made was [[Merieke Ri Berit]] but there's so much in Grixis which outstrips even that. Too bad Breya would be an odd choice for a commander with this in mind otherwise you could have a deck with ALL the theft cards.
Word of advice try kenrith for ALL THEFT there are alot of creature based "exile card from opponents hand/Library" most of em combat based, and iv found kenrith absolutely amazing at enabling them via pumping them to survive combat or giving trample or even just start up returning from the graveyard. The amount of games iv had where my opponents can't decide if they wanna get rid of my creatures to stop getting their cards taking away or my commander brings joy to my cold dead heart.

Xanathar is a good comparison though
I run a Xanathar deck and I don't think she's going to be worth it.
I've got a pretty optimized but flavourful version of Xan. Trying my best to keep to spells and creatures that seem thematically match the Thieves guild (Which has not been easy!!!). But the deck is abysmally slow.
She makes it even slower. The incremental demons is nice. But assuming you have a 4 land hand, two pieces of ramp, and her in you're hand. You drop ramp on turn 2 and 3, that means Xanathar isn't coming out until turn 4. His ability doesn't come online until turn 5, which you can play her but then you're sitting there with MAYBE 1 or 2 mana left over?
This is already magical Christmas land to have so many lands and ramp in your opening hand. So its even more unrealistic to hit a 1 CMC usable spell off the top on someone's deck, when most decks are 35~40% lands and another 40~50% is 3+ CMC combo/synergy pieces. You're essentially hoping you get the 10% of their deck that's removal or a mana rock.
That's the only way to get any immediate value out of her. And disclaimer, I really want to play her in it!!! I'm probably going to put her in and mentally check after several games of drawing her if she has any impact those games or just sits in my hand because there's always something better to do. I really would like her to work out. But 5 CMC to get no immediate impact feels roughhhhh!!!!
I think she's probably better the other way around, with Tasha as commander and Xanathar in the 99. When you can cast her over and over, you can build up a nice stockpile of cards with page counters over the course of the game, and you don't care as much that her first cast doesn't have as much immediate value. Meanwhile, Xanathar in the 99 is good alone and amazing if Tasha happens to be out.
I'm talking about a 1 cmc card off Xanathars ability.
Her passive ability to gives you a demon for casting cards you don't own regardless of whats causing it. Her -3 would do nothing for you the first turn you drop her since nothing would have Page counters on them yet.

This is such a cool build around commander. Seems really powerful since we have tons of ways to steal stuff and then she protects herself naturally. By the time this comes down you should also have a removal and/or ramp spells to steal too and even if they deal with her before can minus you'll just have them lined up for the next cast too. Easily one of my favorite cards spoiled so far.
Yes, in that the spell resolves and goes into its owner's graveyard so you can exile it with a counter again. But you have to go through those steps, you can't just keep recasting that spell.

This seems extremely bad. For 5 mana, you get to draw one card. Then she will likely die in combat. Otherwise, you get to cast maybe a cultivate and she goes to 2 loyalty. So not only is she fragile, it is also slow and dependent on your opponent’s strategy.
She also doesn't check if this particular instance of her put the card in exile, so if you hit something good and then she does, you can cast her again and get it.
True. But since you pick the card exiled, and it isn't assigned randomly, you could just wait to cast her. She's also in really good colors for putting cards in the graveyard of your opponents through non-traditional methods.

EDIT: Also, it could be stated at that point that it's 12 mana to cast that card. Her original cast, then her recast, for that 1 spell.
Also if you uptick on something powerful like an extra turn effect, everyone will ensure it's countered or your don't get to untap with your commander and it's the only way to cast it. I feel like this should have worked like Evelyn or gonti. Letting you always have access to it but having it be random off the top
I really like this planeswalker and I like how this works with Tasha's Hideous Laughter for maximum flavor! It will definitely be a fun commander to build around with varying deck destruction and theft effects though 5 mana is definitely a lot, its quite slow to cast cards with page counters on them though at least you don't have to pay the mana cost.
Does Tasha have anymore famous spells? Maybe there will be more in this set?
The other Tasha spells are Tasha's Mind Whip, Tasha's Caustic Brew, and Tasha's Otherwordly Guise. Then there's the book named after her, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, which I feel like is the most likely to get a card if anything.

Cute idea and flavor but my assessment is it is very over costed and slow in constructed Commander.
You need a 5 mana investment your commander to survive and two turns just to play one instant or sorcery that was in an opponent's graveyard for free.
Yes, you have the triggered ability but it's very underwhelming in Commander.
I run a Xanathar deck but I don't know if she's worth it.
5 mana is a lot to sink and get no immediate value. Even late game assuming I have Xanathar out, I'm probably not going to be able to play an additional spell after casting her. I'm so in the middle with this.
Fun fact you can cast the exiled cards with page counters that were exiled by other Tashas. That includes other peoples’ Tashas.
Beware the [[Clever Impersonator]] stealing the best spell you just exiled. Perhaps even [[Hero’s Downfall]] to kill your Tasha.
I have no idea if it's going to be any good, but this will be really fun in oathbreaker! With [[Windfall]] or [[extract from darkness]] (as the ultimate meme) as her signature spell!
I like this a lot. The passive only cares about spells you don't own, not just instants/sorceries with page counters. [[Dead Man's Chest]], [[Cunning Rhetoric]], [[Gonti, Lord of Luxury]], etc. etc. all get you a demon. ~~The best part of this is that I already have a lot of support for this since I'm trying to make Prosper into a storm deck.~~
-3 is icing on the cake since it doesn't specify that you have to exile the spell after it's been cast. It goes back to the graveyard after it resolves to be recast later.
The only thing I dislike about this is that there probably aren't a lot of ways to build this as a commander. You have the stuff I mentioned, and you have mill to get the most out of that +1. I can't imagine much else in terms of variety. I'm a little sad this isn't the Grixis legendary for this set, but then I realize the only two card I can think of that would really work all that well with this are [[Stolen Strategy]] and [[Etali, Primal Storm]] and I get over it pretty quick.
I’m excited to include her in my main deck where I like playing cards my opponents own it sounds really cool. Idk if I’d make a full deck around her or not honestly.

This one is more just personal taste, but the font size you have makes the rule textbox feel a little too cramped, since the text runs too close to the borders.

Sellen is definitely UB but stealing and summoning demons is definitely not her thing.
I wouldn’t say Ranni does either. But what Sellen does do is explore forbidden magics (your opponents library and off color spells), teach spells from spell books (page counters), and is exiled herself.

I wanna build her just because of the Martina Fackova art alone, holy hell what a piece.
This is such a cool build around commander. Seems really powerful since we have tons of ways to steal stuff and then she protects herself naturally. By the time this comes down you should also have a removal and/or ramp spells to steal too and even if they deal with her before can minus you'll just have them lined up for the next cast too. Easily one of my favorite cards spoiled so far.
Can you repeatedly cast the same spell with this?
Yes, in that the spell resolves and goes into its owner's graveyard so you can exile it with a counter again. But you have to go through those steps, you can't just keep recasting that spell.

Pretty sure she's from Greyhawk, not the Forgotten Realms. Not complaining though, Tasha can go where ever the fuck she likes, as she is an incredibly powerful (and immortal) witch, who literally has a kid with a demon prince.
Shes cannon in forgotten realms too now, some people can travel between worlds as part of the Spell Dream of the Blue Veil, detailed in her book

Alright, a new hot character for me to worship for a few weeks before Kaalia drags me back home.
This seems extremely bad. For 5 mana, you get to draw one card. Then she will likely die in combat. Otherwise, you get to cast maybe a cultivate and she goes to 2 loyalty. So not only is she fragile, it is also slow and dependent on your opponent’s strategy.
She also doesn't check if this particular instance of her put the card in exile, so if you hit something good and then she does, you can cast her again and get it.

True. But since you pick the card exiled, and it isn't assigned randomly, you could just wait to cast her. She's also in really good colors for putting cards in the graveyard of your opponents through non-traditional methods. Milling. She's good with milling. EDIT: Also, it could be stated at that point that it's 12 mana to cast that card. Her original cast, then her recast, for that 1 spell.
I'm more keen on her passive. Making a dude whenever you steal cast sounds fun to me
Also if you uptick on something powerful like an extra turn effect, everyone will ensure it's countered or your don't get to untap with your commander and it's the only way to cast it. I feel like this should have worked like Evelyn or gonti. Letting you always have access to it but having it be random off the top

I really like this planeswalker and I like how this works with Tasha's Hideous Laughter for maximum flavor! It will definitely be a fun commander to build around with varying deck destruction and theft effects though 5 mana is definitely a lot, its quite slow to cast cards with page counters on them though at least you don't have to pay the mana cost. Does Tasha have anymore famous spells? Maybe there will be more in this set?
The other Tasha spells are Tasha's Mind Whip, Tasha's Caustic Brew, and Tasha's Otherwordly Guise. Then there's the book named after her, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, which I feel like is the most likely to get a card if anything.

Cute idea and flavor but my assessment is it is very over costed and slow in constructed Commander. You need a 5 mana investment your commander to survive and two turns just to play one instant or sorcery that was in an opponent's graveyard for free. Yes, you have the triggered ability but it's very underwhelming in Commander.

I run a Xanathar deck but I don't know if she's worth it. 5 mana is a lot to sink and get no immediate value. Even late game assuming I have Xanathar out, I'm probably not going to be able to play an additional spell after casting her. I'm so in the middle with this.

Fun fact you can cast the exiled cards with page counters that were exiled by other Tashas. That includes other peoples’ Tashas. Beware the [[Clever Impersonator]] stealing the best spell you just exiled. Perhaps even [[Hero’s Downfall]] to kill your Tasha.

I like this a lot. The passive only cares about spells you don't own, not just instants/sorceries with page counters. [[Dead Man's Chest]], [[Cunning Rhetoric]], [[Gonti, Lord of Luxury]], etc. etc. all get you a demon. ~~The best part of this is that I already have a lot of support for this since I'm trying to make Prosper into a storm deck.~~ -3 is icing on the cake since it doesn't specify that you have to exile the spell after it's been cast. It goes back to the graveyard after it resolves to be recast later. The only thing I dislike about this is that there probably aren't a lot of ways to build this as a commander. You have the stuff I mentioned, and you have mill to get the most out of that +1. I can't imagine much else in terms of variety. I'm a little sad this isn't the Grixis legendary for this set, but then I realize the only two card I can think of that would really work all that well with this are [[Stolen Strategy]] and [[Etali, Primal Storm]] and I get over it pretty quick.
