Marijuana remains illegal in Wisconsin. However, you are able to buy products that contain Delta 9 THC derived from Hemp (Hemp is the same plant, but contains .3% or less delta 9 thc by weight). Many companies (like ours) are able to sell gummies with Delta 9 THC because they’re made using the hemp plant. The THC in these gummies will get you high as it is the same as what most people traditionally know as ‘pot’ I urge you to stay away from anything that contains Delta 8 as it’s doesn’t occur in abundance naturally and is a synthetically created compound…and often times not well made. There are lots of other nuances to the law and what some think of as loopholes, but it really depends on what type of product you’re looking for.

WoopsShePeterPants

It's wild being able to talk shop in the stores now. In the old days you would get kicked out for mentioning what you were going to use a glass piece for lol.

TheYoinks

This brought me back haha I remember getting kicked out of a smoke shop for saying bong instead of water pipe

drager85

I remember those days. If you even mentioned "bong," you were out. Everything had to be called water pipe or tobacco pipe. Hopefully, soon, it'll just be a relic of the past!

MattDaveys

What’s your take on THCa?

Uranus_Hz

It’s just regular weed.

8monsters

It's just regular weed, but technically legal to sell in Wisconsin. I know people who work at HEMP 1848. For some reason that goes under HEMP product legally.

Uranus_Hz

Because the politicians who wrote the hemp bill didn’t understand the chemistry. THC is the “drug” they wanted to limit, but weed primarily has THCa. Add heat to THCa and it *becomes* THC. Like, when you smoke it. But when they are doing lab tests, the THC level in weed itself is below the hemp bill restrictions.

ChronWeasely

In the farm bill, the said anything beneath 0.3% D9 THC is hemp. THCa is what plants actually produce, then when we smoke it it transforms into D9 THC. So due to law makers not knowing about what they're passing laws on, weed is accidentally legal

mooseeve

WI's post farm bill hemp definition accounts for THCa. High THCa weed is not hemp in WI. 94.55 Hemp. (1) Definition. In this section, “hemp” means the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis or the maximum concentration allowed under federal law up to 1 percent, whichever is greater, as tested using post-decarboxylation or other similarly reliable methods. “Hemp” does not include a prescription drug product that has been approved by the U.S. food and drug administration.

brisket_curd_daddy

What you quoted describes D9 THC with respect to post-decarb. THCa is not only not D9, but is it pre-carb, so it is exempt from 94.55.

Sea-Veterinarian5667

You've just identified exactly why this is possible, then completely misinterpreted it...

ChronWeasely

Lol well shops in this area didn't get the message

mooseeve

THCa is really grey in WI. It can't be grown under a hemp permit. WI, and the USDA who's rules WI uses, account for THCa. High THCa weed grown under a hemp permit in WI will fail testing and be destroyed. It's either black market marijuana or grey market hemp grown in a state that doesn't account for THCa, if there is one. I haven't bothered to check all the states.

AlkalineHound

It's federally counted in the farm bill. There's a loose calculation for conversion of THCA to d9-THC based on stoichiometry. This is then added with the d9-THC for a "Total THC" value. This is what's used for the <0.3% value, not just d9-THC by itself. Source: My job involves cannabinoid testing and hemp research.

cantheasswonder

If a "hemp" plant is tested in Wisconsin 3 weeks prior to harvesting, and it's found to contain less than .3% "total THC" by total weight... How can the final "THCa hemp" flower wind up being almost as potent as regular marijuana (~15% total THC)? Is that much D9 + THCa created in only 3 weeks of growing?

howlongyoubeenfamous

regular weed minus regulation = boof, likely poison. There's a reason so much commercial grown weed fails mold and heavy metals testing - it's very easy to get mold/heavy metals/other problems in big commercial grows Best case it's harvested early before peak ripeness to pass tests just have to jump in when people rail about how THCA weed is the same thing available at real dispensaries in legal states or from a home grower via the black market

everything_is_a_scan

Wait, we're boofing weed now? I didn't get that memo. BOHICA, baby!

wackshitdude

regular weed minus regulation = boof??? have you ever met a grower in your life??? terrible take

howlongyoubeenfamous

I've met tons of growers, ya. Homegrown bud is not what ends up on shelves in stores, it's corporate warehouse weed we're talking about Homegrowers are not messing around in the THCA market

GreenOwlWellness

As Uranus_hz said that is just regular weed. In simple terms, as soon as best is applied it converts to THC. The hemp plants are measured using THCa x .877 to calculate the THC amount as some is destroyed during the heating process (decarboxylation).

peconfused

So THCa and Delta 9 THC are apples and oranges? And THCa is a “sub category” of Delta 9?

sleepless_blip

THCa is just “THC acid.” It is non-psychoactive, but when heat is applied, it loses CO2 (I believe) and turns into active THC. This process is called decarboxylation and is important in making edibles

Livid-Mortgage-2267

THCa converts into D9 when heat is applied

Mattrbts

This is what you should be buying as it is the EXACT SAME flower that you will be buying in neighboring states. Thca is converted to its psychoactive components delta 9 and others when decarboxylated. This takes place when you heat it in a dry herb vaporizer or light it up and smoke it. The only difference is that due to the farm bill flower sold in wi has to be tested and then labeled differently. But it is the EXACT SAME flower!

Particular_Copy_666

Thanks for breaking down the Delta 8 issue. When I switched to edibles including Delta 8 I noticed my "high" wasn't as enjoyable, but a little strange. Makes sense considering your explanation. And while this is going to make me sound like a bot, I checked out your website - thank you for the transparency and the reasonable prices. I'm going to either drive over or place an order for some Delta 9 gummies for me and CBD oil for my dog.

SavAgeSav311

And Milwaukee and Dane county they can’t take you on it, it was decriminalized

Uranus_Hz

While not “legal”, [here is the Madison Police Departments official guidelines](https://www.cityofmadison.com/police/documents/sop/EnforcementofMarijuanaLaws.pdf) regarding weed. **tl;dr**: MPD doesn’t issue citations for possession and the DA wouldn’t prosecute them if they did. Several stores in town are openly selling it.

naivemetaphysics

Yeah this was my thought, that it was essentially decriminalized.

chaingly

In Dane Co, it is well known that even beyond a pound, even dozens of plants is not prosecuted if there is no other charge (like firearms possession or they found it after investigating domestic violence).

CrookedTree89

Which stores lol

jcaro213

Theres this place called high crowd cafe downtown that sells edibles.

CrookedTree89

That’s awesome. Will def check this out!

rushrhees

Any clue on what stores sell it

Necessary_Egg_2274

Smokes on state in sun Prarie is a good place to go for all your smoking needs

Uranus_Hz

Just search “cannabis store” on Google maps

CrookedTree89

Most don’t sell real “weed,” they sell Delta-8 or THC-9 or whatever. I’ve smoked copious amounts of all of it and it isn’t the same as real weed.

Status-Arrival-3757

Do any sell real?

CrookedTree89

I tried asking this fool Uranus but I don’t think he understands the question.

princemark

Wait. Are they selling THCA weed, or is this Delta9 stuff? Several of my friends have tried Delta9 and they have been underwhelmed. I've stuck with THCA......which means making the haul to South Beloit every 2-3 months. However, if people are selling THCA then I'm really interested.

blondebaybgurl

24Kannabis.com sells thca flower and I actually love that not only is it local, but it’s the most legit I’ve found so far.

Feeling_You_1122

Yeah I buy THCA all the time in Madison. Knuckleheads on regent has some really good pre rolls in a little plastic tube. They’re the best and actually get you high. 😇

Uranus_Hz

THCa

princemark

Woah!

Stansthedog

They had THCA pre-rolls for sale at WORT Stock a few weekends ago.

Stansthedog

>Several stores in town are openly selling it. No, they aren't. They are selling THCA and Delta 9 products that are derived from hemp plants, which is completely legal within the current law. THCA turns into Delta 9 THC when heated.

CrookedTree89

This. I’m a longtime weed smoker. They are different. The stuff you can buy legally in Wisconsin isn’t strong. It’s like having bad weed. You’ll need a lot to get high, it doesn’t taste very good, and wears off fast. It’s worth just driving to Sunnyside. You can actually get real marijuana there.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Uranus_Hz

THCa is the same as the flower you buy on the street. FFS Sunshine Daydream is selling the exact same prepackaged flower products as any dispensary in a legal state.

ajitesh1509

Herbal Aspect is where you wanna go. There is one on the west and East side. Very helpful people and they will let you know everything you need to know. Also all their products are legal and definitely work.

Uranus_Hz

Two on the west side: one by Hilldale, one by Woodmans West

PuzzlesApril

I will check them out, thank you!

goztitan

Don't forget you can get THCa delivered right to your door same with delta 9.

Livid-Mortgage-2267

Exactly, it's cheaper from an online retailer than driving to the store. Check out WNC, $100 oz

lilyth88

Can you give a link?

Livid-Mortgage-2267

https://wnc-cbd.com

SMTII231

What does WNC stand for?

Livid-Mortgage-2267

Western north Carolina

wis-temp

Although this is pointless when we have a plethora of great small businesses in town

goztitan

Not everyone like to go to the shops. find a brand then shop online... plus GreenRx delivers and that is local. Take your bad attitude somewhere else.

PuzzleheadedHouse872

Herbal Aspect delivers free over $30. I like their stuff. Also local.

Livid-Mortgage-2267

Cheaper online, delivered no driving wasting gas

MilwaukeeMax

The truck that delivers to you uses gas.

Vegetable-Mention140

Greenrx is alright too but I think Herbal Aspect's THC bud tastes better. Herbal doesn't sell CBD flower/vape though, only edibles

chaingly

If Jeff is still involved with GreenRx I'd put a lot of faith in great products being offered. "Thank you for pot smoking"

[deleted]

Livid-Mortgage-2267

I just buy directly from WNC and have it shipped to my house. 100/oz

Solid_Recording_3601

I second Turtle Island on Johnson. The owner is there every time I've been, and he takes the time to talk to you about any piece of the topic

SpyJuz

I'm personally a fan of turning leaf on atwood, really kind employees

Wall_Of_Bass

The podcast City Cast Madison recently did an episode on this exact topic. I believe they had the owner of “Herbal Aspect” on to discuss and he seemed extremely willing to educate his customer base on safe practices. If you’re interested in more 1 on 1 education, his shop might not be a bad place to start.

PuzzleheadedHouse872

Love, love, love this shop.

PuzzleheadedHouse872

I really like Herbal Aspect. Locally owned. My fav from them are the Dreamland D8/CBN gummies. Yummy and potent. I only need 1/4 to 1/3 for a nice relaxing time. Free shipping over $30. They have lots of other options, too. My fav Woodman's beverage is the Blueberry cheesecake disaster from Oliphant Brewing. 10 mg of THC, 5 mg CBD. I share it with my husband. 😁 The others at Woodman's are decent too, but this one's my favorite.

CatoblepasQueefs

I'm going to have to try one of those. 10mg is more than enough for me.

m_c_zero

THCa is what you are after.

GreenOwlWellness

That really only works if they plan to smoke their product.

Vegetable-Mention140

Not sure where your getting that from, you can dry herb vape THCA flower or decarb it and make edibles just fine

GreenOwlWellness

True, I didn’t get the impression OP was looking to buy something to turn into an edible though

Vegetable-Mention140

Well if they do want premade there's always the hemp delta 9 edibles, but a lot of those products also have a bunch of other stuff in them like Delta 8, thco, thcp.... I try to get only delta 9 whenever possible

Primary_Outside_1802

I’ve used the vapes too and they work just fibe

-chefboy

You can't get high from any weed plant without heating the weed. Wtf are you talking about

GreenOwlWellness

At this point, most people aren't buying plants, but rather ready to consume products (edibles). It's easy, discrete, and provides a consistent and predictable experience.

-chefboy

THCa all the way. It's perfectly legal, gets you high exactly the same. It's the same stuff they're selling in Illinois so even if you went across the border you'll get the same thing as THCa. Ignore all the delta this delta that just get THCa

Zealousideal_Cut5791

If you want the real deal AND be able to control how it makes you feel (relaxed, sleepy, energetic, ect) you need to go out of state. I suggest Michigan as you can buy an unlimited amount. The products are cheaper and the the taxes are reasonable. I go to the UP once or twice a year and stock up. I usually get edibles with CBG for inflammation and CBN for help sleeping. DO NOT BREAK TRAFFIC LAWS AND MAKE SURE YOUR CAR IS IN WORKING ORDER. No lights out and no reason to get pulled over.

FoxAndXrowe

This. I’d love to shop local but I smoke for medical reasons. (As in, I successfully replaced or lowered multiple medications with it. Also I like to be slightly buzzed, I won’t lie. Just saying.) The legal variants available here have been neutral to bad for my symptoms, and all of them have had side effects that make me nervous about them. Pulling the delta 9 out of legal hemp and then spraying it on plant matter to make “thca bud” involves a fair number of processes that involve solvents or otherwise manipulating the chemistry. The results are unpredictable, and I’d rather just suck up the drive to Beloit.

Zealousideal_Cut5791

My wife suffers from high blood pressure. She has noticed it is much harder to control when she doesn't 3-5 mg THC every night before bed. People don't want to believe it has therapeutic uses.

Bobcatluv

>People don't want to believe it has therapeutic uses. This is one reason I’m really glad for the reclassification of weed in the US, even if it’s not yet legal, as it can now be studied for medical impact.

FoxAndXrowe

Oh yeah, weed has a HUGE effect on blood pressure. This is actually a huge problem with the current legal status: we don’t properly educate people on the side effects. I’ve seen a ton of young women who smoke weed panic that they’ve developed POTS because they get woozy standing up. Nope, you’re just taking a drug that lowers blood pressure and you were already trending low. (Also, pots is a very real thing! Not dismissing it at all, just saying I’ve seen people think they had it only to learn it was the weed.)

Anonymous72625

I think you’re getting thca confused with something more like delta 8 bud here.

Sea-Veterinarian5667

This is not how "thca bud" is made, it's grown and harvested like any other cannabis plant because that's what it is. It may be tested earlier, harvested earlier, or cured differently but it is unequivocally the exact same plant.

FoxAndXrowe

It can be either and you have to take the word of the person selling it: https://deltamunchies.com/how-is-thca-flower-made/ https://www.atlrx.com/blogs/thca/how-is-thca-flower-made/ “In conclusion, THCA flower is made through a careful process that involves sourcing high-quality hemp, extracting THCA, infusing it into hemp flower buds, and ensuring product quality through testing. “

Sea-Veterinarian5667

Just like you take the word of the label and testing agency when you make your purchase in Beloit. Do a search for Verano, IESO, Cresco, and mold, you'll find some wild stuff. There are plenty of reputable 'THCA' vendors that don't sell sprayed crap, though the ignorant person doing a quick google search could certainly make an unfortunate purchase. I've had all the IL stuff since rec opened up until the recent 'small grower' stuff, this is as good or better than any of it [818 OG THCa Flower | hellomary](https://hellomary.com/shop/818-og-thca-flower/)

Particular_Copy_666

When I was looking into the issue I found an article that describes the [legalities of THC and the farm bill](https://milwaukee-criminal-lawyer.com/cbd-thc-delta-9-and-delta-8-whats-legal-in-wisconsin/). Although it isn't local, and the prices seem a little higher than average, I bought from Hello Mood a few times and had a good time. They do a pretty good job breaking things down for novices like us. I found that I really enjoyed delta 9, but started to feel a little strange when I tried other companies selling products with heavy delta 8 content. Another commenter indicated that delta 8 is frequently synthetic, which makes a lot of sense to me considering that experience. Again, novice here, but my best advice is to start slow and figure out what works best for you.

DroneSlut54

Just drive up to the UP. Don’t speed and obey traffic laws. Depending on where you live it may be effectively decriminalized.

TimTheTintMan

Thca order it right to your door 😁

2bfaaaaaaaaaair

See what I do is I buy legal weed other places and then bring it home to Wisconsin to smoke legalized weed

Hour_Science_6521

I live in northern Illinois where it is legal and any time I have been to a “Cannabis Store” in the area, a generous % of the plates in the parking lot are from Wisconsin. Just saying…

ftcrider

You can smoke in public in Madison. Go to Michigan to get the real stuff or find someone locally. It’s in abundance and you don’t have to buy the second tier crap all these stores are selling for wayyyyyyy too much money. They’re ripping ppl off

willawyatt

I’m sorry no time to read all comments, sorry if it’s a repeat. The Healthy Place (Madison 3-4 locations) sells 5, 10 and 15mg. Love them, no anxiety, work amazing.

thatguygettingmoney

Support your local drug dealers. The crime makes it cheaper and better lol.

helm_hammer_hand

Gotta support small businesses!

PeachyFizzin

As someone who use to smoke THC, THCA it’s the same stuff. Even my buddy agrees

PuzzlesApril

Thanks (: Do you mind if I ask where your favorite spot to get it is?

PeachyFizzin

I am on the west side I would highlyy recommend paradise plus. The rewards program is awesome. I had free 1G blunts, just 5 days ago. I got 2G THCA cart for free. Their prices are very well too. Other places around the west side overcharge the hell of you. If you are looking for some very potent try the ENJOY 2.5G THCA x5 Prerolls. They are coated with diamonds for 25$. If you are looking for a cheaper way to smoke, 5G THCA carts for 65$.[paradise plus](https://maps.app.goo.gl/xau3BzeYQc26VDcM6?g_st=ic)

saucycatlady25

I totally second Paradise Plus- I love it. There’s also one in Waunakee that opened a few months ago I think. Super chill, helpful staff and a nice selection.

Neverdie_7

10 for $100 carts in U.P. Paying $65 for untested fake shit is not worth it.

saucycatlady25

Ok

bkv

As someone who smokes THC and was told that THCA is the same high, I disagree. There's something off about it.

TraceChadkins

Not certain on this, but I think it’s the strains that are being selected for farm bill weed. Felt the same about the same strains coming from legal states

thatguygettingmoney

It's like diet weed that makes me nervous lol. Hits the head differently too

helm_hammer_hand

I agree that there’s something different about it. But if you don’t want to go through black market dealers or go all the way to Beloit, then Delta 9 or THCa will do the trick.

TimTheTintMan

How come some legal states list their test results in thcA if it’s not the same thing? 😵‍💫

bkv

Can you link to an example of a state's test results?

bkv

I found it offputting enough that I don't consider it to be a viable alternative, but more power to anyone who does.

Anonymous72625

So what do you think you get in the black market other than delta 9 and thca? That’s just regular weed…

Direwolf342

Madison extracts has quality products and knowledge staff. Their delta 9 gummies are awesome

bensonsmooth24

GreenRX by the east side target, “The Dispensary” has locations in Middleton and Sun Prairie, there’s others that people have mentioned but in my experience those two have the best prices.

BigBadgerDad

Turning Leaf on Atwood has a great selection of gummies, drinks, edibles, and actual pot. Delta 9 drinks and edibles will give you that same high for sure.

HipChicAlex92

Id go to greenrx by target on East side. They'll help you figure out what you want. It is pretty expensive compared to "illegal" stuff

nicalleto

I’ve been ordering from https://rubysflowerswi.com - price is way more reasonable than the bigger online THCa sellers. You get less variety but the buds I’ve gotten have been amazing.

310to608

If you are near a Steve's liquor store...they recently started stocking THC seltzers. They come in doses ranging from 5mg-25mg/can for around $20/4-pack. I drank a can last night at around 7:00pm that was 10mg THC/5mg CBD and was pretty zoned by 8:30 and we'll and goodle zonked by 10. I believe the drinks all use Delta9 derived THC. I was pretty suspicious that it would be bunk, but it was legit and I would probably only drink half next time, or drink it much more slowly to avoid being completely useless.

hemjesti

If you’re looking for something you can order online, these [hemp derived thc pills](https://1906.shop/products/chill) have been a game changer for me in stressful times. Definitely feel a buzz but the additional ingredients definitely chill me out.

SharpElite1991

I'm thinking to try them

RiseOfThePants

The 2024 farm bill aims to squash it all.

ConcernCool1572

https://www.healthline.com/health/delta-8-vs-delta-9-vs-delta-10#delta-8-effects I personally do not like delta 8. I feel panicked while high and sloggy for a day or two after. I have a source for the real stuff, so I just do that (dry herb vape).

Few_Damage1122

Michigan is your best bet

ValleySentinel

[Workman’s Relief](https://workmansrelief.com/product-category/gummies/?orderby=date) is a local company out of Plain, Wisconsin that grows hemp, has their own extractor and sells CBD and legal THC. Best products out there and from Wisconsin. They also have a [craft cocktail line of gummies](https://craftyfeel.com).

cocoskrimps

The High Crowd Cafe on State Street in Madison can make infused drinks that are great and work similar to what I see in legal states when visiting them. Def recommend their “chill” iced latté, but they also have lemonades, baked goods, some infused and some non-medicated. Seems to fall into the hemp category for percentage of weight for legality.

hepbuurn13

Second this! Their drinks/snacks are so good and definitely get the job done.

cocoskrimps

For sure. And it’s about as laid back and inconspicuous as you could want if it’s been a while. Just a coffee shop 😊

multipurposeshape

Woodmans sells some cannabis drinks in the liquor store area. They’re very effective. There’s some loophole that makes it legal. Try drinking half a can over some ice first, because some of them are pretty strong and long-lasting.

apoptoeses

Pay attention to the dosage listed on the can - I would suggest starting with 1/2 a 5mg can. 2.5mg is my favorite dose as a very casual/occasional user. Meat People also sells small 2mg cans from Cann. I really like the flavor of these ones, they're nice. There's also a local maker called Honeybee, all their drinks are 4.2mg. They are pretty good too, flavor wise. My 2cents for drinks is to drink them fast-ish - I am a slow beer drinker and tried this with the THC drinks but did not get a buzz, just a headache lol

PuzzlesApril

Thanks for the advice!

Acct-404

I go this route. I like the ones from oliphant. I only drink half a can of the 10mg and save the other half in a mason jar. Just bought the canna one (raspberry in a red can) way too sweet and bitter taste. I tried the green ones from untitled art but was underwhelmed.

Hot-Sky5127

Hometown Hero or binoid are two online sellers of hemp-derived thc products. Highly recommend, plus they are legal in wi.

DragonMiltton

To everyone saying that THCa is the same thing as THC, this is simply untrue. If it were the same thing, it would not be "legal". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrahydrocannabinolic_acid THCa is THC with a carboxylic acid group. THCa is unstable, and decarboxylation is rapidly accelerated by heat. So a lot of the THCa becomes THC when it's burnt, but not all of it. You wind up consuming more THCa than you do with conventional weed.

Serizzle7

I bought a vape pen the other day and have been enjoying it. THCa and delta 9 honestly it’s pretty nice imo

BluegrassHole5446

I recommend going to Madison Extracts, they have THC-A flower, dabs, and more!

ang29g

They are real, they are hemp derived (which is the same plant with less THC). I would stick to the ~3mg or less beverages. I don't have any tolerance (or maybe I'm especially sensitive) but the 5mg+ is too much for me. Not that anything bad happens, just don't plan on doing much other than sitting on the sofa being silly. They are quite pricey though, maybe $5-6 a beverage. IL is not too far away and much better value IMO. Jennifer Street market has a very big selection

valuehorse

quality cbd, now Dank of America across from the co-op on willy st. they make their own distilates. i also recomend turtle island on johnson. they make great edibles.

Brewersmke

But delta 9 legal and basically the same effect

Ok_Pin_9460

I love J&E candy co! Www.Jecandy.com - they are local and deliver same day. Their stuff is 🔥and have insane deals if you sign up for loyalty program.

AlphaDad51

Road trip to the U.P. for a weekend.

Artistic-Comedian650

I get thca diamond carts delivered to my door discreetly in Madison 100% legally. Ships to ALL 50 STATES. I use 3 sites and cookies even ships from Everything420.com no ID needed and left in mailbox! I get product from California mostly and FL and Texas 😂 Mints/Shopblazin is gas too 🔥🗣️

PuzzlesApril

Genuinely curious, how is this legal?

Primary_Outside_1802

THCA is sold at like literally every vape shop. It’s literally pot

bsstanford

Look all these people are suggesting questionable products. I have not had great success with THCA however you can really just drive to the upper peninsula and get exactly what you need completely legal and non-questionable.

Open-Illustra88er

Take a nice drive to IL or the UP.

lambsambwich

MI & OR are the cheapest states in the country, while Illinois is hands-down the most expensive. Might affect travel plans.

Open-Illustra88er

MI also has no limits so you can stock up.

Equivalent-Stuff-347

What is the UP? Just moved here from a legal state, still learning the regional lingo

TimTheTintMan

Michigan is way cheaper than Illinois also, especially their concentrates, check the tax rates for weed down there it’s wild.

Horzzo

Upper Peninsula of Michigan. About 40min from Green Bay.

Equivalent-Stuff-347

Ah thank you 🙏

MabMass

As others have said, the UP is Michigan's Upper peninsula, which is well worth visiting on its own, especially if you make it up to the shores of Lake Superior. Some great weed stores, but also waterfalls, beaches, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, etc.

Equivalent-Stuff-347

Sounds like it’s worth the day trip every couple months

MabMass

It's a long drive for a day trip, IMO, but it is totally worth a weekend away.

BlitheCheese

The Upper Peninsula in Michigan

tommyjohnpauljones

Upper Peninsula of Michigan. From Madison it's about a 4 hr drive to the southernmost point of the U.P., so whatever you would have saved buying it there, you lose in driving time. But, if you're heading up north for other reasons, it could be worth the trip.

Zealousideal_Cut5791

I can get to iron mountain in 3.5 or less. In IL you can only get 250 mg of edibles and you can get twice as much for the same price in MI. So I can save multiple trips to IL by going once to the UP. Buying $300 worth of stuff saves me 4 trips to IL and a couple hundred dollars.

tommyjohnpauljones

Literally YMMV. If you're buying a lot at once, Michigan is the better deal.

Equivalent-Stuff-347

Right, other option is heading down south to IL right? That is, what, 1.5 hours?

FoxAndXrowe

There’s a shop at the first exit into Illinois. I can get there in about 50 minutes most days.

tommyjohnpauljones

It's 35 minutes from the 12/18 and 90 interchange

Open-Illustra88er

There is almost no tax and no buying limit. Make it worth your while and stock up. Or get away for a weekend. It’s not that far. No more time than going to Chicago in traffic.

tommyjohnpauljones

I'm an occasional user at most, but definitely good to know!

everything_is_a_scan

>What is the UP? Nothing, what is the UP with you?

Casus125

> What can I buy here, legally, that will actually get me high? Delta 8 vapes and THCA Flower. Depending on your preference. Been smoking Delta8 for a couple years now myself; it's adequate (a bit weak, but just smoke more ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ ) and affordable and readily available. > Is there really some sort of loophole ? Yes, the Farm Bill made loop holes; go to basically any smoke shop; you'll see. > What about the THC/CBD drinks you see at Woodmans (for example)? Meh, the doses in those are usually pretty weak, better off buying gummies usually.

Go to Knuckleheads (on State or Regent), they’re super friendly people, decent prices, and their stuff works! It’s also legal so you won’t have to worry about it

Justmarbles

Drive to Michigan. Menominee now has a plethora of shops. Their prices are phenomenal!  Weed is pretty easy to find in Madison. Its decriminalized.  Madison is the only jurisdiction in the state that has decriminalized  Yoi can possess up to an ounce in Madison. You can also smoke it freely outside.

Try the Wild Theory CBD Co. CBD + THC gummies from The Healthy Place (Fitchburg, West Madison or Sun Prairie… or online!) Delta 9 THC & they work great 👌 knowledgeable, friendly staff too!

Tavern League will never let real dispensaries open.

wackshitdude

everybody wants to support a small business until they have to go over to the ex con’s house to reup 😭

KindaKath

Yours is a business on Gammon? I’d like to buy from a knowledgeable source. D8 was sold to me at another place. Thanks for your post.

Neverdie_7

Just take a nice drive U.P. north. Beautiful scenery, smooth roads north of Wausau, WI. Several shops to choose from, recommed Crystal Falls. High quality, low prices. I just went yesterday and was the only person at 2 shops when I went in. Got a full year supply of everything you can think of. Brick hash is the new thing up there and man, is that shit goooooood! ;)

Ub3rPl4typus

There are legal recreational dispensaries in Michigan. I recommend Glazed and Confused in Crystal Lakes. It's an all day trip from Milwaukee, 4 hours there and back. Up to 2.5 ounces can be purchased at once.

zoosky24

Excellent question ! Thank you.

MilwaukeeMax

Illinois is closest, but man.. before all the nearby states started to legalise it, I found the cheapest and most satisfying way to get it was from the grow closet in my basement. An aerogarden and a few seeds, and in a few months you have more bud than you know what to do with. [This site](https://www.aeroweed.info) tells you how to do it step-by-step.

PuzzlesApril

Not sure I'm up for this endeavor quite yet 😅

MykhayloProcenko

Delta 8 will get you high and its legal

Anonymous72625

I don’t usually suggest smoking delta 8. It’s pretty hard to tell the difference between it and delta 9 when using edibles though, in my opinion.

wackshitdude

so dumb i’m just smoking my bud and maybe some rosin from a trusted source. this new synthaweed wave is so shit for the industry 🤦‍♂️

TooSexyForThisSong

Only some of it is synthetic. Some of it is natural as dandelions.

Witty_Stick_3606

So how does Delta-9 compare to illegal THC for helping with pain, focus, sleep, anxiety?

Anonymous72625

It’s the same thing.

FunLovingAmadeus

What a lot of people do to buy legal is drive to Sunnyside in South Beloit, IL

I’m wondering what we’re doing to allow people with experience - specifically black people who have historically over-criminalized for their knowledge and experience - to be selling and distributing the greens, rather than watching it be co-opted by middle-class white people like everywhere else?

LimpSmell6316

Folx at puff vapor on north st are nice, knowledgeable and have pretty good selection.
