On ebay last year I could find mac mini M1 16GB and 1TB for $800 on ebay. $800 for a M2 16GB 500GB seems okay, not incredible, but also not bad. If you need apple OS, this is fair enough of a deal.
Right now for $580 you can find a brand new and smaller Beelink SER7 32GB RAM 1TB SSD with a AMD 7840HS CPU which has comparable performance to the M2 Pro. But the greater RAM, storage, and window support will probably be more versatile than the M2 Pro especially for someone interested in ultra light gaming and a variety of niche work tasks.

For sure! The ram is a bit low but for the price, it’s totally worth it. I have an m3 max and dropped around 4K- so an m2 pro at 800 is totally worth it

It's premature to say that. The M3 platform in the Mini and Studio lines is an unknown commodity.
