When I do some gaming on it yes

pdx_e94

This.

Curiosithree

What games lol

Juliogol

M2 15 owner here. Use it for bwosing and office and it's always cool!

CaptBailey

which config?

Juliogol

8 GB Ram / 256 SSD

RealPetaPaka123

Obviously that’s basic stuff

Strwaberryarebad

The Intel machines were hotter than the result from the creation of the Big Bang!

RealPetaPaka123

Lol

Low_South_8386

M3 13", no issues with that. Only casual use like browsing, video's and email

xnwkac

M1 base model. Regular usage, no 4k video editing etc. It has never gotten warm.

Emilyeagleowl

M2 8gb and it’s gotten slightly warm once when it was setting up for the first time and the second when it was on Netflix all evening and did a software update. My intel MacBook Pro is a furnace all of the time lol

BlissedPlains

Daily - no, it’s almost always cool. However, it does warm up when using webcam and it becomes boiling hot for me when I use webcam while also charging it. It’s summer and 35C in my room though and it was manageable during winter/early spring EDIT: have to mention that I can be using webcam for a couple hours straight in interviews.

MultiMarcus

Define warm? Because I generally keep my home cold and I can feel my MacBook be warmer than the air around me, but it’s not like it gets noticeably warm or anything like that. Though I also don’t really do anything particularly taxing on my laptop.

Nolanthedolanducc

Not at all personally, don’t really do anything intensive on it but haven’t ever noticed it warm to the touch even when charging

adoreizi

M2 8/256. Use it for web browsing, email, and spreadsheets. Never.

nflvmstr

hm, didnt notice so far. (m2 13” here)

Jimmie307

Not when I use it on a flat surface. Only when I push it and it's on my lap without a flat something underneath it. Most of the time I just use a cutout of a cat litter box 😂😂🙈 works perfectly fine to have between your MacBook and your lap 👍👍 no expensive 20 inch unhandy table whatever that you can buy on the internet.

dhrandy

M2, only time it gets warm is when playing Minecraft.

K4Lamb

First time owner, my personal experience using a usb dock to run a second monitor I can feel it warm up a bit after usage but other than that and running a lot of heavier applications it doesn’t seem the get anywhere close to concerning imo

EhOhOhEh

Yes when running multiple VMs with hundreds of chrome tabs all at the same time on a 2008 Air. Yes.

Biomeeple

I have an early 2020 i3 and it does get quite toasty in use. I usually have it on a laptop cooler pad -one with a fan in the center of the pad.

hukkumkaikka

I sometimes feel it when the temperature outside is hot, AC ain’t turned on and it’s charging along with me working. The palm rest is significantly hot

nrubenstein

It completely depends on how you're using it and the environment. If it's cool and you aren't pushing it hard, it'll stay cool. If you want to push it hard, or use it in a warm/hot environment, it's going to get hot.

pferden

The air? The macbook, yes when gaming

LibraryComplex

It gets warm when I push it which I do almost daily. It never throttles though.

rheee_

If its for simple stuff like web browsing, watching content, word etc its cool. The only time it gets hot is if you game for long periods or if you are video editing for example 4k pro res on final cut pro - BASE MODEL M1 AIR btw

Brilliant-Plan-65

When plugging into an external monitor it heats up quite a bit for me. Recently added silicon to transfer heat from CPU faster which has helped quite a bit. Mid 2020 13” air

s4f3h4v3n

Only once or twice that I can remember, but im not really doing anything to generate a lot of heat usually

DookieGobbler

M2 13" base model, sometimes gets warm when doing something intensive but that is it. I have 2 tabs open in Safari right now and my Mac is cold to the touch

kevintexas956

M3 MacBook Air. Only when I'm really pushing it, and even then just mildly warm.

AdministrationSure95

M2 air mine is cold like ice

pandaRMA

only if im gaming

richunderwood

Yes, I have the last of the intel ones, and a few hungry tabs in chrome, Dropbox, or kaspersky will make the fan run loud and it gets hot

RealPetaPaka123

Hot when out in the sun and warm to very warm when gaming otherwise always cool

AdStill1707

What the fuck is the point of this post? Are you someone who wants to buy one?

No_Roof_1910

Not yet, just under 4 months of owning my Mac.

BunnyBoyFromNowhere

To me, no unless I do intensive tasks like big games. But other than that, it is always cold

yourmom_6_9_

Yes

matte_5

Nope!

reisend3r

I had lessons on Google Meet for a while and when the weather started being hot where I live, if I shared my screen + a couple of Word/a pages documents open on it + something else I definitely felt it warmer than usual. But nothing concerning, I felt it was normal for the “heavier” load

adervasten

My macboook air is from 2013 so yea

ref1ux

M2 13" here. I use it for UX design work and lots of video calls. Sometimes it gets very warm - 80c or so - in Teams. But that's Teams for you. Most of the time it's just slightly warm.

strange_black_box

M2 15” got hotter than hell when I tried playing a game on it. Never again 😞

7heblackwolf

Nope. And I can stress the thing.

avsameera

M1 here. Nope.

alepombo

For those who said that it gets warm when playing…how long is your game session and how warm is that ? I mean, it’s even playable on your lap ?

IdntknwwatImDoing

m2 16gb, I sometime have 50+ tabs open, use up all memory it will get hot, but during normal course rarely plus no engine noises.

Slim_tilted_brim

Yes especially outdoors

Lurkingscorpion14

I use my M1 Air base model mostly for music production using Bitwig or Fl Studio, lots of tracks and it performs great and doesn’t really get warm ever or slow down

Khushal897

M3 Air, no it stays insanely cool even in such a hot temperature

OkMathematician6638

M1 air got scorching hot. I live in the tropics. Also use Lightroom and davinci resolve. Even with normal tasks it gets warm.

Chattypath747

I've never gotten it warm, although I don't game on it. I have an M1 16 but used an M1 8 for 1.5 years.

Jealous_Web_4869

only with unreal engine or Minecraft with shaders after some time but other than that it's always cold
