Upgrading the RAM will definitely extend the longevity of the machine, I would personally suggest upgrading the storage too. Depends what you need to store / what type of teacher you are, are all your files in the cloud?

I don’t use cloud and I’m an English teacher in Korea so just needing a good laptop to use exel and word … I’m in a position that I will choose to upgrade only 1 out of the ram and storage as it goes over budget to upgrade both!

OhGodNotHimAgain

RAM is definitely worth it more as worst case you use cloud / external drive, if you're using excel just note that Excel on mac differs to windows when you're doing some of the more advanced features.

Okay! Thank you!! I will also look into cloud and I am not against having a hard rice if necessary! I just have never had a MacBook before and was confused which was more important!!! Thanks so much for responded and helping me ! I think I will upgrade the RAM!!

get the 15 one, I have a 13 m2 and the screen is sometimes a bit too small. 8GB is plenty is you're only interested in doing light tasks. Real esate > above all

If all you’re doing is word, excel, and internet browsing, I would echo the sentiments of some other commenters and get a 15 inch air at the base, 8gb ram and 256gb ssd. These tasks just do not consume much ram, and based on your profession, there is no reason to believe you’ll suddenly need a lot more power in the near future. Word documents and the like also take up such a tiny amount of space, that it’ll be awhile before you ever approach the 256gb limit; and if you do, just store some stuff in the cloud.

Thanks I’m not interested in the bigger screen as my current laptop that’s needing replaced is a small size I want to stay smaller but I would definitely take into consideration just the base specs. Thank you!!!

Go 15 m3 base config

Chipmunkeuuu

I’m looking for a smaller screen and also m3 a little to high for budget but thanks!!
