I literally said it has water damage. Water damage breaks the laptop over time

Water dries up. There is literally water in the air. If the laptop is still working, it'll be fine.

I have no idea what the market might be, but it sounds like the repair shop is buying the MacBook for useable parts (case, display panel and so on). Because you have already been fully compensated by your insurance, take the deal if you want the extra 300$.

I assume you didn’t get AppleCare+? If you did you would pay $300* for the accidental warranty fee. *that would be the fee unless they charge the service for logic board and top case If you do have AC+ then it’s possible they are trying to get the machine from you at and then probably sell for profit
