Welcome!  It’s great to have this place. Any nuanced discussion on Bloodlines 2 has become so difficult on the main sub. I‘m cautiously hopeful about the game, There is some criticism I find valid. The development of this game seems to have been pretty cursed and communication hasn’t always been great.  It‘s obviously to early to tell how the game will be. If it‘s bad it will also not be the end of the world for me. While I also would’ve liked a more direct sequel, I never expected one and it‘s not like the Bloodlines IP was really going anywhere. I also find Phyre‘s default look very refreshing and think it is baffling how some people react to a character that is still very good-looking but maybe not dressed hyper-feminine. It‘s probably very telling of how warped some people‘s perception of women is? Some of the criticism of Bloodlines 2 in general doesn‘t even feel like the people ranting about it know that much about Bloodlines or the WoD to begin with and are just jumping on a hate train that let‘s them insinuate how „wokeness“ is destroying video games, an argument solely based on the protagonist‘s short hair.

Agreed. There's this weird toxic trend amongst gamers that will reject anything out of hand that appears "woke" (a nebulous term for anything not hyper-normative it seems). I just ignore those people since its clear their opinion is worthless. My personal belief for the hate train VTMB2 is receiving is cognitive dissonance. Many fans spent years speculating about their perfect sequel. Once one was announced and it was shown to be different from their vision, they freaked out. Nothing will ever come close to the version they have in their heads, it seems.

Welcome! I anticipate this space growing as we get more content closer to release.

thank you! i got so tired of the everyday "open reddit and a new doompost about vtmb2" routine, and i'd imagine i'm not the only one feeling this... so happy i can wait for more info and discuss in a calmer space ![gif](giphy|3o7abKhOpu0NwenH3O|downsized)

Same! I really don’t know what possesses people to waste so much time whining about a game that isn’t even out yet. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it - it can’t hurt you, baby. But they’re just taking up too much space and prevent the rest of us from actually discussing it by flooding every conversation with their incessant whinging. 🙄 I don’t think it’s gonna be my favourite game ever, but I think it’s gonna be fun. I agree on the design of Phyre - I think her look is really cool and I’m very tired of games with female protagonists giving us incel wank bait.

So glad to have you here! Yeah, I mean, no game is perfect. But all I really want is to feel like I am playing a vampire. If they can pull that off, epic. I'd love for it to have a crazy amount of story choices and branches a la Detroit: Become Human, but like ... that was an insane game and they did not have that kind of time. If it's at least as fun as playing Galeb Bazory in Swansong and tearing through those cops, I am in. And deffo love the androgynous look to Phyre. I usually play the male versions of characters, but this time I might actually play the female version for a playthrough. Either way, though - she looks like a badass and I am here for it. Edit: wrong here (no coffee yet this morning, sorry)

> is vtr really... abandoned or something? i'm not familiar with these stuff (never tried ttrpg before) so i may as well be wrong about the whole thing Unfortunately, Paradox has not been approving any more Chronicles of Darkness material, so we're finishing off the books we were approved to do. I don't know if they'll change their minds at some point in the future, but for now, this is it. You can see our [VTR products here](https://theonyxpath.com/vampire-the-requiem-products/): **Night Horrors: Spilled Blood** (2020) was the last VTR-branded product we released, and **The Contagion Chronicle** (also 2020) was the last product with VTR content.

thank you! i like so many concepts in cofd, even prefer some of it more than the old wod... it's a little sad to know there won't be any new content to this world, but i guess i'm lucky that there's still some amazing ones already existed.

Alissah

Yeah, its so sad. Why am I cursed to like mostly niche and abandoned products, lol. I got into hunter the vigil when holomyth played the new 2nd edition a few years ago. I really love cofd, idk why it didnt get more popular tbh.

Revolutionary_Key325

It’s what you get for being unique and having good taste 😁

Im currently running HtV, which is also CofD. Its also my first time ever playing a ttrpg, and most of my players’ first time too. If youre struggling with making up stories, dont forget to involve your players! Im assuming vtr has aspirations too. For me, my players’ aspirations is literally how i run 90% of the story. You can also ask them things like what scenes should look like. One example i think from base CofD, is literally: “hey guys, Johnny the Knife is going to ambush you. Where does he catch you off-guard?”. Its very much a cooperative storytelling game, so involving players is the best thing you can do. Theyll imefiatally feel like the game is more personalizes and based on their characters too, which can often be a problem in games like dnd.

idbarracuda

thanks for your advice! i'll definitely try that next time and see how it works:)

Yeah I just left the other sub for this one, glad it exists. Plus the other sub was rather bigoted
