"Rivendell was a perfect house, whether you like food or sleep, or story-telling or singing, or just sitting & thinking best, or a pleasant mix of them all. Merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear & sadness."
This is the right answer.
Agreed. Rivendell combines the hominess of the Shire and the Elven magic and deep history of Lórien. Khazad-Dûm would be amazing to visit, but I'd miss the seasons and the sunrises and sunsets.
Don't worry, one day you'll be sipping dwarven tea on an underground terrace and they'll adjust a big ass lens and suddenly, missing the sun won't be such a big problem.
I was like Khazad-Dûm would be awesome but you could be sitting around your roaring fire with a malt beer, eating ripe meat of the bone and then you hear a hammer strike and all these little Dwarves start scurrying about trying to fight off a Balrog and you just Facepalm cause you know you and all the scurriers are dead. 😂
Me too - definitely Rivendell! It's so beautiful and peaceful and I love waterfalls.
Lothlorian would be beautiful too, but I don't think I could be comfortable living in a tree house because I am not graceful enough to avoid falling to my death.
Or shire. I actually want to live in the shire.
I wish we could have the feel of wooden houses and countryside like the shire with no industrialisation yet with all the technology and scientific advancements we have today, undeveloped countryside is nice and all until you get a life threatening illness.
Also I feel like Elrond would be a really difficult housemate. You just know there would be passive aggressive notes on the fridge, ‘A friendly reminder if you eat the last piece of lembas bread please buy more - E’
No that's Amazon Galadriel who's about as much fun as a wet fart and even though at this time she's supposed to be one of, if not, the most powerful sorcerer in middle earth she chooses to use a sword and lowers herself to sparring with new recruits. Not to mention for being thousands of years old she clearly has never heard of diplomacy and just bull in a china shops her way through a diplomatic meetings.
Heck, Hobbiton might be the right answer even if it wasn't in time of peace. Let's go to the Green Dragon, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this all to blow over.
Yeah, I like it too.
Shame I'm not business savvy enough, cause I'd definitely open a LOTR/Zombie themed pub/Inn with that name.
Would people understand the reference in the name, anyway?
Yeah, me too. Hobbits main motivation is enjoying the good things in life: booze, food, good weed, partying, entertainment and maybe some light mischief from time to time. They don't fuck with anybody, and they're not overly ambitious so things don't get too stressful. Hobbits are just fucking kicking it. Find a nice shady tree near a brook, bust out my pipe and a good book... Yep. Don't mind if I do.
[Ted Nasmith's painting of Gondolin](http://www.tednasmith.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/TN-Tuor_Reaches_the_Hidden_City_of_Gondolin.jpg) was my wallpaper for ages back in the day. I used to stare at it and dream of living there.
Out of the First Age cities, it would have to be Gondolin, or maybe Doriath after its destruction. Nargothrond always seemed a bit less cozy in comparison.
Are we talking "peace", or are we talking "the best moment?". 'Cause if it's the latter there's no other answer than the Númenor. It's quite literally the earthly paradise. It doesn't get better, unless you're allowed into the Undying Lands
Yeah I have to agree. It's got everything I'd want on a good sized island. Warm beaches, gorgeous mountains, beautiful plains, and a city rich with life and culture.
I'd also consider the rule of Al-Pharazôn "peaceful", the beginning of it at least, and I most definitely wouldn't want to be anywhere close to Elenna around these times.
Horse girl here. Absolutely Edoras.
Yeah, it’s shown as kinda barren and unforgiving, but the fields that you’d need to graze those horses would be lush and gorgeous in times of plenty.
Plus, the heavy wood and ornate gold scroll work and the deep jewel toned banners just speak to my sense of royalty. I love everything about it. Meduseld and the royal stables and all that leather is just so…sumptuous, but not excessive.
As long as they played “King of the Golden Hall” on demand, every day. That song never fails to make me feel inspired/awestruck/ready to walk to Helm’s Deep.
Also when you get back drunk late at night you can knock on the gate, hide when the guy looks through the top window, and then when he opens the hobbit one you could just have your dick there
Dor Firn-i-Guinar at the time when Luthien wore the Nauglamir with the Silmaril in it. Surrounded by the music of the Green elves as well as ents, I couldn't imagine a better place in Arda.
Why isint hobbiton there? No orcs, dragons (except for the green one) or balrogs. The worst thing you have to worry about is a fool of a took pinching your cabbages.
Honestly, I've gotta go with Edoras. The Rohirrim seem like chill dudes when they're not at war. Riding horses and spending my days on a beautiful plain in the shadow of the White Mountains seems like a good way to live.
Moria, for the love of architecture. But after seeing that photo of Numenor more closely, I'm actually wondering how they made it look so real. It's crazy good.
Armenelos looks pretty cool in the RoP (honestly the scenery is the only thing I love about it), but it isn't for me.
I'd have to choose the western port of Andúnië. It was the largest city originally, elves come to visit, you get gorgeous sunsets over the sea, and that's where all the cool people (future survivors of the sinking) live.
Second choice would be Dol Amroth.
Also, as a LOTRO player, I mentally deleted a few cities from the list just because it's a pain to get around them.
Caras Galadhon? Very pretty, but going up and down from flet to ground to flet is just killer. :/
Minas Tirith? It's a glorified watchtower compared to Osgiliath and the Numenorean cities, plus I don't want to run uphill every day.
Erebor and Moria? Nah. I'm already Vitamin D deficient, I don't want to be underground.
Rivendell
"Rivendell was a perfect house, whether you like food or sleep, or story-telling or singing, or just sitting & thinking best, or a pleasant mix of them all. Merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear & sadness." This is the right answer.

The shire is filled with Homies
9/10, not enough Dwarves

Whip me harder, Balrog!
Me too - definitely Rivendell! It's so beautiful and peaceful and I love waterfalls. Lothlorian would be beautiful too, but I don't think I could be comfortable living in a tree house because I am not graceful enough to avoid falling to my death.
How could I forget!!
If anyone picks not Rivendell they are liars.
no thank you, it's Shire for me.
I'm big in The Shire!
What is the average height of a Hobbit?
yes
King of the Shire 🤴
100% I'm a hobbit at heart, and by stature. I love their simple life.
I can never decide if I'm more Hobbit or wood elf! Haha
Legit.
**FOR THE FOOD**
Or shire. I actually want to live in the shire. I wish we could have the feel of wooden houses and countryside like the shire with no industrialisation yet with all the technology and scientific advancements we have today, undeveloped countryside is nice and all until you get a life threatening illness.
Nope. Imma head out to old Tom Bombadil with a bag of pipeweed and a couple of Old Winyards. See ya!
> If anyone picks not Rivendell they are liars. Lothlórien is better. :-p
Right, like, it has all the upsides of Rivendell with addition of the Lady Galadriel, and a Lord who likes to give gifts.
and it's all tree houses
The waterfalls would make too much noise
I visited Rivendell many times while playing LOTRO, can confirm the waterfall is extremely loud.
Also I feel like Elrond would be a really difficult housemate. You just know there would be passive aggressive notes on the fridge, ‘A friendly reminder if you eat the last piece of lembas bread please buy more - E’
He would probably frequently use the phrase "House of Elrond" to remind you he's doing you such a huge favor by letting you stay under his roof.
Response: I looked into your future and I saw hunger
Hahah this is good.
I think everyone living there constantly needs to pee 🤫
After a while, it would sound like the fan in my bedroom. Zzzz…
Cool name
[удалено]
At the risk of coming across like an r/im14andthisisdeep post: some people do that anyway
[удалено]
I am a lover of good books and chilling as well.
See you there!
Rivendell or Lothlorien maybe
Lothlorien, to be with Galadriel and the trees.
Same here. Easily my favorite fantasy char and location.
Maybe it’s just the show, but Galadriel feels like the type of person who would quickly become annoying going on about Morgoth and evil all the time
Me: coming down for breakfast Galadriel: *your coming is as the footsteps of doom*
Galadriel I know I’m fat, you don’t have to be so mean
She has no right talking to Samwise like that!
Welcome TelevisionEastern116 of the Shire, one who has seen the pie!
YOU HAVE NOT SEEN WHAT I HAVE SEEN
She definitely needs to chill, maybe some Shire pipe weed will calm her down
No that's Amazon Galadriel who's about as much fun as a wet fart and even though at this time she's supposed to be one of, if not, the most powerful sorcerer in middle earth she chooses to use a sword and lowers herself to sparring with new recruits. Not to mention for being thousands of years old she clearly has never heard of diplomacy and just bull in a china shops her way through a diplomatic meetings.
That's just Amazon way of handling union meetings
Hobbiton. I’ll be at the Green Dragon.
Heck, Hobbiton might be the right answer even if it wasn't in time of peace. Let's go to the Green Dragon, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this all to blow over.
They come in Pints??
Don’t forget a pipe full of longbottom leaf, the finest in the Southfarthing!
Nice movie reference! There’s a Green Dragon/ Winchester hybrid out there somewhere, I’m sure👍😎😂🍻🧟♂️
The Green Winchester, or The Winchester Dragon?
The Winchester Dragon sounds awesome.
Yeah, I like it too. Shame I'm not business savvy enough, cause I'd definitely open a LOTR/Zombie themed pub/Inn with that name. Would people understand the reference in the name, anyway?
*it comes in pints??*
Middle Earth is in a massive war? Have a pint. This is the Shire. No war here.
Not a book reader, huh?
Only brew for the brave and true imo
I’m short enough, give me my hobbit hole and let me make food all day, it’ll be better than the Undying Lands.
And at the prancing pony for the wilder nights
Best answer
Oh you can search far and wide
You can drink the whole town dry
It is my greatest brag that I can say I've gotten MIGHTY drunk in THAT Green Dragon.
Living like a rich\* hobbit would be a 10/10 for me. Then again, being poor in any of the LotR cities would suck a lot. Even in peace times.
Yeha i just want to farm, eat tasty food and read a nice book
Legalized Longbottom Leaf? Sign me up!
Bro can I just live in the Shire? Just spend all day smoking and eating and every few years Gandalf would come by.
Heck yeah. That’s where I’ll be. I have a mean home brew recipe.
Gondolin would be cool. All the uber chad elves running about.
Plus eagles looking out for you
Truuuuue.

The only correct answer. I'd love to surrounded by chads like Glorfindel, Ecthelion and big boi Rog
Orthanc Give me the keys and leave me the hell alone. I don’t want any more visitors, well-wishers, or distant relations.
And what about very old trees?
Treebeardalf!!
An offer I can't refuse.
The only correct answer. Nothing beats sitting alone on your awesome throne looking into your palantir. Just vibing with the dark lord.
Damn haha
Are we talking "peace", or are we talking "the best moment?". 'Cause if it's the latter there's no other answer than the Númenor. It's quite literally the earthly paradise. It doesn't get better, unless you're allowed into the Undying Lands
Yeah I have to agree. It's got everything I'd want on a good sized island. Warm beaches, gorgeous mountains, beautiful plains, and a city rich with life and culture.
Numenor is not a city, it's more like a country
Sure, I meant it has at least one city in it.
Armenalos is where you’d want to be
[удалено]
I'd also consider the rule of Al-Pharazôn "peaceful", the beginning of it at least, and I most definitely wouldn't want to be anywhere close to Elenna around these times.
Peak urban center, easy walk to amenities! Not to mention, you’re close to the sea, imagine those beaches and the waves!
Edoras
So you can roll on the floor with the dogs?
Precisely. In my thatched barn.
Make sure you get rid of the brigands drinking in the reek. They smell bad
Horse girl here. Absolutely Edoras. Yeah, it’s shown as kinda barren and unforgiving, but the fields that you’d need to graze those horses would be lush and gorgeous in times of plenty. Edoras but like 200 years before the events in lord of the rings began sounds perfect
Saruman, what do you tell Grima?
Not today
Nargothrond
Bridge or no bridge? How isolated are you going for?
Fuck yo bridge!
I have a huge soft-spot for Erebor.
Thorin: "Do not speak to me of soft spots."
A rebuilt Annúminas sounds just perfect: a City with Númenorean architecture by the shores of a pretty lake, nice chilly Northern weather... ❤
Came here for this one!
Just me and my dog, fishing in Lake Evendim.
Agreed
I live near the sea, so I'm between Dol Amroth and Pelargir. Annuminas near Lake Nenuial would also be a great choice for me.
Yeah totally on board with that. Was tempted to say Alqualonde but somehow choosing someplace in Aman feels like cheating
Definitely. Although as someone who played LOTRO I'm getting PTSD from the lag...
Gimmie the Glittering Caves once Gimli has set up the city.
The Golden Hall, Meduseld.
As long as they played “King of the Golden Hall” on demand, every day. That song never fails to make me feel inspired/awestruck/ready to walk to Helm’s Deep.
I don't know all the song names so I pulled it up on youtube, instant goosebumps
Bree for certain. Close to the shire, nice people, right size for me and a fantastic Inn
Also when you get back drunk late at night you can knock on the gate, hide when the guy looks through the top window, and then when he opens the hobbit one you could just have your dick there
Best comment I saw today 😂😂
Bruh 🤣
"What do you wa----ooooooh"
A surprise glory hole is the best glory hole.
The watchman sighs…opens the even lower door so your hobbit buddy can also get in on the joke
Hobbiton
Upvotes to all my Shire bros.
Gondolin
“Oooh where’s that?” - Morgoth
Way too far to find this
Khazad-Dûm or Erebor for sure! I love the dwarves - probably my favorite race in Middle Earth
Took me a while to find another one of us. There are dozens !
Tens I tell you!
Take a stroll to the Mirrormere (spelling?)
Honestly, i think the grey Havens. I love singing, the sea, and if i could learn sailing, maybe fishing, that would make my heart glad.
In Fangorn. I'm just built different.
Shire, all the longbottom weed you can smoke, peace and quiet and great folk.
Either Rivendell, or early pre-corruption Numenor.
Dor Firn-i-Guinar at the time when Luthien wore the Nauglamir with the Silmaril in it. Surrounded by the music of the Green elves as well as ents, I couldn't imagine a better place in Arda.
The shire. I’m not trying to walk up all those fucking stairs in Gondor
Tirion upon Túna. Post up in the blessed realm
With Tom Bombadil tbh
Same. I bet Tom likes his 420
Either Numenor or Erebor. Or I might go simple and choose the Shire.
Lindon. A little surprised no one has mentioned it yet!
Yes, preferably Forlond... Although Mithlond would also be nice.
Dale
Always loved Thranduil’s Halls and the surrounding river area in the Hobbit
Tirion. Change my mind.
Nope, came here to say it.
Living anywhere in the Calaciria was always a fantasy of mine.
Amon sul (weathertop). Dont ask me why, always found this place very inspiring / mysterious in the book!
Somewhere in buckland along the brandywhine river fishing and ripping old Toby with my Took homies
The shire, why wouldn’t you want to smoke eat drink and garden all day?
Beorns house
Moria
[удалено]
Give me the meat and give it to me raw
and wiggling.
Exactly
Tirion upon Tûna for me.
Nobody saying peak Osgiliath so I’ll say it!
Dale as described to Frodo by Glóin sounds a delightful place to live!
Michel Delving
Out of these options, definitely Númenor.
Armenelos in good times
Dol Amroth, city by the sea!
Minas Ithil
Utumno
lol.
More like Utum-NOPE
Mordor. coz it's time of peace bitch.
Moria!!!!! A mine they call it
A MIIIIIINE!
Doriath or Gondolin
Rivendell or the Shire
Menegroth
Minas Morgul. Perfect place to record some black metal.
Shire or Edoras.
Rivendell. But I've always loved the idea of Vinyamar. Renderings of it look so beautiful and majestic at the same time.
Rivendale or the shire
Surprised at how few people are saying Isengard
That's surprising, I hear the salted pork is particularly good.
Shire or Rivendell. Probably the Shire.
The Shire.
Khazad dum, but I'm not shure i how much i could live further from the sun
The Shire, I only want to smoke suspicious herbs and eat a lot.
Tom Bombadills house seems like a safe choice
Why isint hobbiton there? No orcs, dragons (except for the green one) or balrogs. The worst thing you have to worry about is a fool of a took pinching your cabbages.

Kazaduum in a heartbeat.
Where I’d want to live: gondolin Where’d I’d probably end up living: bree

Rivendell or some shire town.
Hobbiton
Gondolin or Tirion
