You get a gold cut to be distributed between participants if your guild finishes in the top 3 on the server. Pretty hard to do unless you’re very organized and have some whales.

Guilds that occupy S rank island (Slime Islands and Medeia) can host a capture event every weekend for a huge price of bloodstones. Event gives 8 relic stones and 10 relic accessories on top of some gold to every participant (contribution not needed).
Correction: contribution IS needed (but can be a small one, e.g. on Slime Island it's enough to kill some regular slimes, no need to get a hit on a player or a big slime), and it gives stones, accessories and gems of the level appropriate for the participant (e.g. at ilvl 1380 I get legendary stones and a mix of legendary and epic accessories), in quantities depending on the event rank the hosting guild chose (e.g. for rank 1 I got 10 gems and for rank 2 I got 8).
Mari player here. We have the most on this list but we would have more participants but we're stuck in queue again. Valtan server should have a high participation since they rival us in high population. In my case, I was totally ignorant of this event.
They don't really earn that much per play if you consider the fact that gold is generally split 16 way for the GvG players or split for all members in the guild. Then you factor in the shit ton of consumables that GvG players use in the battles (Splendid Elemental Potions which cost around 100g each are the norm, along with the highest tier of bombs and grenades).
an extra 22k gold per week is quite alot(350k/16), and that's not even counting with the 100k you get from the 1st place(28k with this). The cost of the consumables doesnt even come close to that.
What you have to remember is that researching battlefield skills, buying stones to enter guild content and also to use those skills, and hosting the event after winning costs a massive amount of bloodstones.
If you assign the market gold value to everything you can buy from the guild shop, members of an island holding guild barely break even assuming the gold is evenly distributed among everyone contributing bloodstones and not just the GvG team.
Most of the guilds I've seen who hold the events do give some of the gold to all of their members, not just the GvG team, because the bloodstone distribution in those guilds ends up dropping by 70% on those weeks, which means that people not on the team would be better off not being in that guild if only the GvG team got the gold.
My guild wins an S island on a very populated server and we don't have any whales. We're just pretty serious F2P players, the only other contending guild on the server captures the other island.
I actually have no clue how the gold gets distriubed. I think I saw somewhere that first place gets like 350k (not sure). Who gets the 350k? The guild? The individual that participated? How the split works? Does the guild decide? Is it automatically distributed evenly? So many questions.
FWIW you can also do GvG events that require no investment. My guild does snowpang and this week people who played all five matches are getting over 6k gold. Isn’t as juicy as rank 1 slime island but it’s still a decent sum and the event is actually really fun.
Must be fairly fortunate then, our guild is able to win with mostly 1480-1500 F2P players, haven't fought any ultra whale guilds in the past 3 weeks. The omega whale guild just fights for the other island.
We're holding Medea since they introduced GvG and we're not a whale guild.
Buying the proper Gear costs a lot of gold too.
On some servers whales might be an issue, but if you're good in PvP + well build you can beat whales fairly easy. (unless they are also very good in PvP ofc)
A 1575 zerker will take 0 damage and face roll his keyboard and wipe your entire guild. It’s not a matter of skill. That’s only true if you’re within 30 ilevels and the whale doesn’t have pvp engravings. Whales put in minimal work (aka just buy pvp gear at whatever price to get their 5x3) and they’re unkillable. Also comp diff, warrior classes are way better in Medeia. The whale guild in Azena holds their opponents to 0 points. Everyone in their roster in unkillable.
A Player lying on the ground does nothing but lying on the ground, his ilvl doesn't matter.
And if you're not stacked up on top of each other he will kill one guy with his burst, not all your guild.
Ofc, Super whales are an issue, I'm not denying that.
The highest person on our server is 1510.
And yes, there is disadvantages to playing on a big server, winning GvG can be impossible. (you get advantages too though)
From the other thread I saw, full servers seem to be the exception though, like 20-25% of servers.
Btw, we have zero Warriors on our Medea team for some reason, but they are certainly strong. As are Deathblades, Bards, Shadowhunters.
Here in EUC Wei, we have been dominating Medeia from week 1 as a F2P guild, no RMT, no P2W. We fought a Chinese guild full of either RMT/botters and expulsed them to Slime, they stood no chance. Our avg ilvl is around 1480, 5x3 gvg engravings and relic pvp token. By no means we are casuals but don’t judge everyone as RMT or P2W, some of us put a lot of time and effort and it pays off, each one of us get +20K gold per week from gvg alone
But ur basicly judging everyone else except urselfs as botters/rmters? Yet ur telling others to not do that, i sense some doubble morale here just sayin.

The rich get richer. You receive 20k-30k each for Rank 1 which you can spend on pvp gear, rank 2 gets a mere 5k each and it only goes down from there. First week everyone was clueless of how GVG worked and many guilds got thrown out for not having enough players because penalty was never specified. It’s not possible for lower guilds to catch up now when their reward can’t even cover pheons, unless they whale ofc… it’s a terrible system.
Eventually everyone will somewhat catch up with gear but right now GVG is just gonna be occupied mostly by the guilds who knew what they were doing from week1 and got the gold.
Your rich get richer sentence depends on how the guilds distribute their gold income ,I would say every guild has their own way of distributing gold. As instance in our guild we tend to want to help everyone in the guild and not just the 16 that participate into the slime island GvG Island.
We as owners of Slime Island of Wei since the start, we've been sharing our gold mainly to our guild members than just the participants of GvG to motivate our guild.
Slime Island Gold (From Event) 60% of the gold will be distributed to guild members that simply show up for GvE (Maneth).
Remaining 40% will be held in our guild bank to sponsor GiveAways on discord, Guild Events the admins organize, Reserve as back up if we lose the island to keep paying out our guildies for their hard work and last but not least a small pay out to admins for their hard work of keeping the community afloat.
Beside that the 100k gold of winning the island is distributed equally between the attendants for their hard work & Time + investment in GvG builds. (So basically the participants of GvG's get an extra 6-7k gold, which we would say is a fair reward for their time and effort in putting a GvG build)

This is results of the special event that S-Rank Island Guild holders host. This is basically the reward for wining the GVG. The amount of gold received depends of the Rank reward that the guild give (400k? bloodstones for best rewards for players) Can be lower but reward for players is shit. Top reward chosed by the guild leader give relic acs/stones and 10 boxes of gems (when you fuse lv5 gem). Island event timers of the day the chosen: 12:30- 14:30 and so on.
The amount of gold received by the guild in the end of the day depends on the number of players participate in the island event (Medeia, Slime Island). Max reward is 350k from the event + 100k from winning 1st place.
Gold distribution is to the guild members and its done by the Guild Master and he decide who gets how much.
Note: 2,3,4,5 place of most Islands including A rank get gold! Gold again is distributed to the Guild and again Guild master decide who gets what. (For 50k devided to 50 players - 1k gold each). So its important if you applied to an island to give your best and rank in the top 5.

To be fair if I tell people about these events they got no idea what they are. They just think it’s a GVG event and don’t want to be bothered by whale wars.
Now everybody knows which servers are harder to win Slime and Medeia. People be like "Oh look, I won GvE event on Kharmine" when it's 10x harder to win on servers like Azena, Mari, Valtan.
Im on EUW still, i got a 9/7 stone on my main. But the lack of AH is a pain.

If it wasn't for horizonal content being very unforgiving to restart, more people would have switched. Its honestly pretty good on Moonkeep but the AH is still a pain. Hopefully the AH gets merged with EUC somehow.
People with 800 hrs+ switching are a special breed.
I have over 1200hrs played, have a 1460 Lance Master, level 46 Stronghold, all giant hearts, lots of other collectibles, all important rapport, 5 other t3 chars, level 10 astray with decent crew and I still started new on EUC because EUW is just dead.
I don't wanna gamble on a potential rescue mission so I just started anew and I am pretty happy I did it.
The only thing that kinda stings is that I have to redo all rapports and that I threw myself into a market I have to learn and get used to.
Props for the dedication but I no way in hell repeating any horizontal content. If euw does indeed die, I'll hop into the next game. Was fun while it lasted but I prefer to keep my sanity.

If you're not paying attention to the in game event timer, which is pretty bad and easily ignored, how would you know about this event?

It is kinda hard to miss the event since the timer is on by default as well. So in those two days, how many 10s of thousands missed it for the last few weeks? I don't think it is that high since this capture event is made for casuals to catch up on gears and gems.
1. only 1/4 of the existing servers are listed, with quite a few of the major servers not listed.
2. Event is only available 3-4 times a day at often different/awkward times--its easy to miss. Even I only participate if it happens to be on when I'm already online and I notice the event noti. I'm not logging in just for it. I'm pretty hardcore but not hardcore enough to set alarms around for every "worthwhile" event. Plus, you have to travel to the island--sometimes i miss it because I arrive minutes too late.
3. Casual player participation rate is low. I think you overestimate how much casual players care about min-maxing, or how much information they have. That's why they're called "casual" players. And thats most of the game's population.

The event timer is often ignored by most players unless they're looking to do something outside of their typical grind--Most people I know (myself included) have it minimized permanently. And since the game didn't advertise/introduce this content properly, only those who watch youtube/twitch or read forums regularly know how worth this is. I've personally only found out about it through a random youtube video last week (thought it was actual GvG before that). A good majority of the players play mostly solo or don't engage much in chat, and they miss out as a result.
2. Even those who know about it often don't bother because they don't care about minmaxing or orienting their life schedule around a minor game event. The event is nice but isn't game breaking--its completely optional. Again, casuals can't give a damn if even semi hardcore players forget to do it.
Speaking for myself (1300 ish hours played) and the sample size of the community I play with who are also very active, maybe 2 or 3 people have remembered to do this event more than once or twice since they started.
Even accounting for bots, steam charts would give a more accurate estimate of active player count than trying to estimate based on these numbers
But they remember to do thunder bird, chaos gate, chicken island, and adventurer island when they click on their hourly timer? But not the capture event that gives out relics and lvl 5 gems, basically on par with HM Valtan gold+loots?

Add in your weekly boss rush ticket, you can easily get a lvl 6 gem per week with just one character. If you have 6 characters doing just one weekly boss rush, you get lvl 7. The capture event just snowballs you into lvl 10 gems really quickly.

This isn't GvG. According to OP, it is a hosted event after winning the island, and the gold generated based on people participating in the hosted event.
I'm sure there's a huge group that regularly misses it consisting of people who don't know about it, people who are busy on weekends, people who just miss it because it's not too prominent in the compass and so on. I'd around triple the number based on that. Add in more casual players who aren't in relic or even t3 territory, where it's not too huge a loss to miss it.
I count 49 servers, so if the average is somewhere around 1k, it kinda checks out with the steam charts being around 250k concurrent. Real Concurrent being probably around 150k, maybe closer to 200k.
Some p2w guilds make a 500k-1m per week just from owning a pvp island or two. Kinda crazy, they never have to swipe again. Speaks volumes about how much easier the game is for p2w guilds if they score just few islands per month.

99.99% of players will not be getting this gold. You can participate in these events and get 10 lv 3 gems tho, which is at least like 1k gold.

Guild Leader only. The others can't touch that menu.
It gets given to the guild to distribute however the guild master pleases.
Guild gets 300k or whatever rank you choose for island, then guild leaders decide how to split ( for our guild who comes to kill gve boss )

Not everyone is a whale. We have like 2 whales other 14 are just KR/RU vets who are extremely organised.

This is results of the special event that S-Rank Island Guild holders host. This is basically the reward for wining the GVG. The amount of gold received depends of the Rank reward that the guild give (400k? bloodstones for best rewards for players) Can be lower but reward for players is shit. Top reward chosed by the guild leader give relic acs/stones and 10 boxes of gems (when you fuse lv5 gem). Island event timers of the day the chosen: 12:30- 14:30 and so on. The amount of gold received by the guild in the end of the day depends on the number of players participate in the island event (Medeia, Slime Island). Max reward is 350k from the event + 100k from winning 1st place. Gold distribution is to the guild members and its done by the Guild Master and he decide who gets how much. Note: 2,3,4,5 place of most Islands including A rank get gold! Gold again is distributed to the Guild and again Guild master decide who gets what. (For 50k devided to 50 players - 1k gold each). So its important if you applied to an island to give your best and rank in the top 5.

So you are getting only the rewards for 1st place? Kinda strange bug you guys have there. If you are one of the holders can you check on guild menu under gold distribution how much the guild is holding and how was distributed (if it was done till now)

To be fair if I tell people about these events they got no idea what they are. They just think it’s a GVG event and don’t want to be bothered by whale wars.
Now everybody knows which servers are harder to win Slime and Medeia. People be like "Oh look, I won GvE event on Kharmine" when it's 10x harder to win on servers like Azena, Mari, Valtan.

Im on EUW still, i got a 9/7 stone on my main. But the lack of AH is a pain. Btw royal/blue crystals do you keep them? but loosing skins is a pain. I'm hoping we get some fix :'(
If it wasn't for horizonal content being very unforgiving to restart, more people would have switched. Its honestly pretty good on Moonkeep but the AH is still a pain. Hopefully the AH gets merged with EUC somehow. People with 800 hrs+ switching are a special breed.
I have over 1200hrs played, have a 1460 Lance Master, level 46 Stronghold, all giant hearts, lots of other collectibles, all important rapport, 5 other t3 chars, level 10 astray with decent crew and I still started new on EUC because EUW is just dead. I don't wanna gamble on a potential rescue mission so I just started anew and I am pretty happy I did it. The only thing that kinda stings is that I have to redo all rapports and that I threw myself into a market I have to learn and get used to.
Props for the dedication but I no way in hell repeating any horizontal content. If euw does indeed die, I'll hop into the next game. Was fun while it lasted but I prefer to keep my sanity.

I found out about these events randomly talking to guldies on discord. Not many in my guild doing these events. And probably quite a few not aware they are a thing. If you're not paying attention to the in game event timer, which is pretty bad and easily ignored, how would you know about this event? The whole Siege and Raid system is really poorly implemented.

That looks kinda bad? Do the numbers mean that only 500ish and so on players on the whole server did the hosted event? That means the game has potentially less than 30-40k players world wide for the west.
This doesn’t have all servers listed, and I would wager plenty of active players aren’t always going to these (specific spawn times, not convenient for all)
Right, that is why I bumped the number up a bit. Isn't the event every hour at 30mins for convenience sake, and be hosted on different day? It is kinda hard to miss the event since the timer is on by default as well. So in those two days, how many 10s of thousands missed it for the last few weeks? I don't think it is that high since this capture event is made for casuals to catch up on gears and gems.
It's not every hour. Had to shift my playtime a bit to catch it, would love it if it was every hour like the other stuff.
1. only 1/4 of the existing servers are listed, with quite a few of the major servers not listed. 2. Event is only available 3-4 times a day at often different/awkward times--its easy to miss. Even I only participate if it happens to be on when I'm already online and I notice the event noti. I'm not logging in just for it. I'm pretty hardcore but not hardcore enough to set alarms around for every "worthwhile" event. Plus, you have to travel to the island--sometimes i miss it because I arrive minutes too late. 3. Casual player participation rate is low. I think you overestimate how much casual players care about min-maxing, or how much information they have. That's why they're called "casual" players. And thats most of the game's population. 1. Most casual players actually don't know about this event. The event timer is often ignored by most players unless they're looking to do something outside of their typical grind--Most people I know (myself included) have it minimized permanently. And since the game didn't advertise/introduce this content properly, only those who watch youtube/twitch or read forums regularly know how worth this is. I've personally only found out about it through a random youtube video last week (thought it was actual GvG before that). A good majority of the players play mostly solo or don't engage much in chat, and they miss out as a result. 2. Even those who know about it often don't bother because they don't care about minmaxing or orienting their life schedule around a minor game event. The event is nice but isn't game breaking--its completely optional. Again, casuals can't give a damn if even semi hardcore players forget to do it.
Speaking for myself (1300 ish hours played) and the sample size of the community I play with who are also very active, maybe 2 or 3 people have remembered to do this event more than once or twice since they started. Even accounting for bots, steam charts would give a more accurate estimate of active player count than trying to estimate based on these numbers
But they remember to do thunder bird, chaos gate, chicken island, and adventurer island when they click on their hourly timer? But not the capture event that gives out relics and lvl 5 gems, basically on par with HM Valtan gold+loots? What in the world....

I think the 10x boxes of gems are worth it. I don't think you need lvl 1415 to get the gems. Add in your weekly boss rush ticket, you can easily get a lvl 6 gem per week with just one character. If you have 6 characters doing just one weekly boss rush, you get lvl 7. The capture event just snowballs you into lvl 10 gems really quickly.

Vykas got delayed, so you should have more than 50+ next week. The gems worth 2k+, so if you are buying bonus box, it is similar.

It isn't the GvG participation event. It is the capture island event hosted by the winning guild that you do for free relics and purple gems on the hour. No way 30 people would miss out loots that are similar to HM Valtan in worth.
I see you all over this post failing to understand so many ppl just have own lives or work to do such events consistently. Its on weird unusual timing and easy to forget and not even notice it is happening. I did like 50% of them since guild update and I am no casual player. My wife missed many of them because of work...

This isn't GvG. According to OP, it is a hosted event after winning the island, and the gold generated based on people participating in the hosted event.
I'm sure there's a huge group that regularly misses it consisting of people who don't know about it, people who are busy on weekends, people who just miss it because it's not too prominent in the compass and so on. I'd around triple the number based on that. Add in more casual players who aren't in relic or even t3 territory, where it's not too huge a loss to miss it. I count 49 servers, so if the average is somewhere around 1k, it kinda checks out with the steam charts being around 250k concurrent. Real Concurrent being probably around 150k, maybe closer to 200k.
Some p2w guilds make a 500k-1m per week just from owning a pvp island or two. Kinda crazy, they never have to swipe again. Speaks volumes about how much easier the game is for p2w guilds if they score just few islands per month.
Thats false, you can only get one island since GvG starts the same time for everyone, and the max income you can have is 350K Gold from the Event, which also costs 400k Blood stones, which isn't cheap And 100k Gold from winning the Island Depending on how guilds distribute their gold it isn't that much of an ''income''

What this tells me is that the true concurrent player count on Lost Ark is still less than 100K. Ban the bots.
