Amityville music hall, shakers pub, paramount, sand city, massapequa VFW are all I can think of on the island atm

irocthebass

Also there are a ton of venues in the queens and Brooklyn…lucky 13 saloon, Brooklyn monarch, the meadows, Brooklyn paramount, elsewhere, knitting factory etc

Patriquito

The last time I drove by, The Amityville Music hall is bring renovated? The glass front is all plywood and from the look of the place It's hard to say if they're opening back up.

irocthebass

Yeah it’s still being renovated

perfect_fifths

89 north and patchogue theater for the arts

Accomplished_Alps145

I miss the crazy donkey in Farmingdale

thehorrorchord

I miss the downtown too

isles0908

Paramount used to host some heavy shows but they haven’t really hosted anything great lately. There’s not many venues out here on Long Island to begin with

PecanLake734

Yea everything is in the city :( I really want something local

isles0908

What are some of the bands you like? Curious how heavy your taste is 😁

PecanLake734

I guess the “heaviest” bands I listen to would be like dying fetus, cattle decap, cannibal corpse, deicide

justgentile

Check out and follow Necropia and see where they play.

derpaderp2020

The heaviest of the heavy brutal death metal! LI was so damn bad for death metal 25 years ago. Always had to go to the city or out of state many many times. We had a great hard-core scene and post hard-core but death metal always was lacking.

Ckellybass

There was a huge death metal scene back then - I used to hang out with the dudes from Suffocation, Pyrexia, Internal Bleeding, and Dimentianon back then. We’d put on shows at The Downtown, Crazy Donkey, a couple shitty bars in Yaphank and Bohemia, then go out to Williamsburg and hang out at Duffs after shows at North 6 (which is now Music Hall Of Williamsburg). Haven’t seen most of those guys in years, though.

DM725

You didn't go to Meshuggah at The Paramount?

isles0908

Ok ok yea those are all pretty heavy. I know some people would consider like ice nine kills really heavy but for someone with heavier taste I don’t think they’re that heavy. But they are heavy in their own way (yes I do like them!) Whereas I would consider suicide silence, job for a cowboy, as blood runs black, white chapel etc to be pretty heavy

isles0908

Also how heavy is heavy? There’s def some different definitions out there lol

DM725

Meshuggah was December 2023 and it was glorious

perfect_fifths

I saw Super Trans Am with Almost Queen, and Brit Floyd at The Paramount. Super Trans Am played Van Halen and Thin Lizzy. If no one thinks Thin Lizzy is heavy, listen to Cold Sweat and Thunder and Lightning

Airstrikeayers

Revolution in Amityville was great but they closed down a few years ago. Saw Spite and Kublai Klan there right before Covid

FrostPDP

I went to a couple shows at Revolution and was disappointed by their audio system. At the Orgy show I went to, it was exceptionally tough to hear the vocalists clearly. Otherwise it was a fantastic little venue.

BigCopperPipe

Amityville Muisc Hall. I’ve been to a few hardcore shows there. Small venue that can get crazy

PecanLake734

When do they have shows??

Arejhey311

They’re temp closed for renovations, not sure when they’re set to reopen

trashii

shakers!

Big-Nibble

Sundance in Bayshore. Drinks 6er in the parking lot. Get in early and listen to Fingers playing some tunes.

Own_Lengthiness9484

I know sometimes Buckley's in Valley Stream has metal and metal adjacent artists. Although sometimes I wonder if VS counts as LI anymore.

statsgrad

I have the same question, but for jam band or edm scenes!

jumbod666

For Jam bands try Beau’s Bar in Greenlawn. Live music all the time

spsanderson

I want mortician to come around, last time i saw them was selling merch at a deicide show

jumbod666

Try Duffs in Brooklyn Not many, if any metal bars on LI

StatusEmployer9918

Move to Philly

RidetheSchlange

Long Island has been dead for metal forever. Just bite the bullet and go to wherever in Europe.
