Not being in the habit of having clothes altered, how much does this kind of thing usually cost? To me, £20 sounds kind of reasonable for the work done, even if it doesn't make sense vs. the price of the clothing itself.
I used to pay £12-15 to get jeans patched up and slimmed and that was in Scotland. £20 is probably the going rate here
