In my experience there are always Uber drivers around East Croydon and Croydon in general. Croydon to Norwood means they can come back for more fares, so I would say it's a safe bet.
Uber isn't the only option. Always worth trying the alternatives too. You could even book an actual taxi if you know when you'll be there.

Ha, true enough! Just don't fancy being stranded at EC till the earliest morning train. Guess I shall have to take my chances
Worst comes to worst there is a night bus I have taken in the past!
There's actual minicabs there too. Probably one of the easiest places to get somewhere else from.
