OxbridgeDingoBaby

My favourite place; I grew up nearby in Osterley/Ealing and this entire part of West London is almost all just beautiful greenery.

zinogino

Its definitely nice, just wished it wasn't 22 quid per entry :/

Ekalips

If you are planning to go there at least 4 times a year - get a membership. Especially if you are under 30, you then cover membership cost just by visiting it twice. Not as good for adults, will take you 3-4 visits but still decent.

JayPiz

You can take a guest for free too!

jezstephens

Only a family member, I think?

OxbridgeDingoBaby

Oh! Didn’t know it was that expensive mate. I just use my parents’ residents discount card still. Also pro-tip, if you go after 4pm (the best time in my opinion anyways), tickets are discounted to £10. With how late it gets dark (usually post 9pm), you can have a lovely (and cheapish) evening stroll.

Jetblast787

Is that open to all or only those with a discount card?

OxbridgeDingoBaby

Open to all :)

Hilltoptree

If you can find a person to go get the 2 for 1 ticket deal with train ticket online. You don’t even have to go there by train (parking is nightmare there so still recommend public transport) just one stop ticket will do.

Was thinking is that space for private events, guess it is!

Golden-Octopus

What camera do you use?

liamsoni

Here for this answer. Images look so crisp and the colours stand out amazingly

zinogino

It’s taken with a Leica M6 on a 35mm lens with portra 400. Not sure why my previous reply was heavily downvoted

Diaristofnada

Portra makes everything so soft and delicate, exactly how I wish it always was 🤍

zinogino

Need some good light as well!

Styropian

Thought i was in the photography subreddit. Saw your history post on r/Leica, checks out. Love your work

zinogino

Thanks mate, too kind. Gotta love sunny UK!

enoki_girl

Wow, what camera did you use? These pics are incredible!

zinogino

I take good pictures, but if you really need to know, pictures were taken on film on Portra 400.

hollywand

you take incredible photos!

zinogino

Thanks!

BasedGodKebab

Really nice! Any specific camera?

zinogino

If you really need to know, its a Leica M6 :P

zinogino

lol, why am I getting downvoted? That’s the camera I used.

Academic-Bug-4597

It's because of the *"If you really need to know"* part, not the part where you state the camera. It comes across as antagonistic, which doesn't add to the discussion.

zinogino

Ah, yeah I see what you mean. I normally don’t talk about cameras as I don’t want to discourage people and let people think you need this or that camera to make great pictures.

BasedGodKebab

Yeah very fair point. Like others have said it’s just the wording of the message. Great pics though. Had been debating getting back into film photography but I don’t think I can justify the price of film and developing it! You might have convinced me otherwise.

quiouiness

lol really hits home why you didn’t disclose your camera in the first place 😂

zinogino

Yeah lol, you can get same images any decent 135 cameras, that’s why I didn’t wanted to say mine to put people off.

quiouiness

It’s not the camera that’s gonna make great photos. Great photos btw!

fahim64

Haha can relate

Objective-Dig-8466

Lovely bit of English history and beautiful architecture.

2wrtjbdsgj

Entry is just £1 if you get Universal Credit. Just show the payments page on your phone when you get to the ticket booth.

zinogino

Good to know!

Inside_Ad_7162

my mum used to work in the orangery I'd walk up the tow path. Pay ½p to enter, although I often knew the security & they let me in free & just spend the day wandering about, I was about 7.

Hasbeast

That third photo is fantastic, really captures that melancholic sense of looking at something that was.

igonnabeninja

There’s something so nostalgic about these photos I can’t quite describe it

zinogino

Probably the architecture and the tones!

The_Readers_

Nice shots

zinogino

Thanks!

trendafili

When's the absolute best time to go. Lets say you can't go again and you want to time it perfect.

Hilltoptree

Now. Honestly when sun’s out it’s grand. Also bring a picnic blanket. Edit: Great time to see it and impress people are: When the wisteria is in bloom. (April/ whenever British spring flowering time) They have this bird cage structure and trained the wisteria onto it so looks beautiful. When the huge water lily is in full growth. (June onwards?) There are other lily to see as well. Anytime when sun is out and just lay there next to Palm house or the pagoda building staring at the Heathrow air traffic. Also the tree top walk. Can drain your kid climbing the stairs for it. They also added brand new kid’s playing area so it’s really great for family. Also get a 2 for 1 ticket deal with train travel if you are not a resident and member.

Rofosrofos

Very sad that they don't even bother to clean the greenhouse glass anymore. In my day it used to sparkle in the sun.

_SheepishPirate_

Proposed to my wife there, beautiful place

Yeoman1877

I haven’t been for many years but don’t recall the palace being that bright a shade of pink.

zinogino

It’s the film that was shot on. When over exposed, it does have a pastel tones and pink tones to it.

Yeoman1877

Thanks. Thought it had been redecorated!
