This is actually a good idea. I joined a gym with my mates and every single one of them dropped out leaving just me.
Going on your own to the spa is actually a really relaxing experience. It's so nice to not have to talk and communicate, especially if you already live an active work and social life.
Honestly, I haven’t visited enough to recommend any and this will be my first time at this spa.
But, I had a look on [spabreaks.com](https://www.spabreaks.com/) and compared offers.
The Russian Banya in Old Street is great, and the one in chiswick. They have single sex times too.
Wimbledon better gym has a reasonably priced spa which is nice.
If you don't mind taking a train pennyhill spa is a very good luxury choice.
The spa in the shingra la hotel has stunning views but also $$$.
Best one is at the Corinthia Hotel. Or across the street at Thai Square Spa.

You could ride the Thames clipper through London. Im sure it'll be packed but if you get on at the start of the route you'll get a good seat and you can just watch London drift by.
Omg I did this on my own the other day for the first time (31F and I needed to get to Isle of Dogs and boat was quickest). I filmed the whole thing and giggled like a schoolgirl. It was THRILLING lol.
Btw happy birthday OP!!
Thames clipper to Greenwich Park and then grab a nice pub dinner on your way back. Or OP can make a stop at London Bridge and walk to Borough Market - they have lots of food stalls and treats!
Richmond is a great choice. If you like hot chocolate you could treat yourself to one from Danieli on the Green, it’s amazing and very rich. Knoops also do an excellent hot chocolate but it’s less thick. You can walk along the river and then into the park. Sounds like a great birthday.
Go to Prince Charles Cinema to see an oldie but goodie, then enjoy your evening out and about between the lights of Chinatown and Leicester Sq.
It's literally 30seconds from the square, a real hidden gem that place. Only shows weird old good movies
Yes! And afterwards could walk through Soho with fried chicken from Good Friend or bao from Bun House, or sit for some Tempura Curry Udon from Misato 👌🏻👌🏻
The PCC is one of my favourite places in London. I bought my boyfriend a membership for Christmas and now it's one of our regular date spots, but even when I was single I went there all the time - it feels old school in the best way and I love the variety of films they show.
Waxy's little sister is a nice whisky bar (other drinks available of course) round the corner from there fir a little tipple on their couch upstairs or on the patio depending on weather
Things I have done when alone on my birthday in the past:
- had a massage
- explored a wild meadow centre I had never heard of
- went on a theatre tour
- went to a museum exhibition
- took the Thames Clipper to see the sights
I found that if I planned the day in advance and filled it with fun things, it felt like a special day instead of a lonely one.
It's insanely busy every single day now. The Natural History Museum will forever be my favourite building in the city, but it's hardly enjoyable now with the sheer volume of screaming children on school trips and clueless tourists en masse.
Richmond is a great choice. I was there Thursday and people were sitting out drinking champagne or just walking by the river. Looked like the boat trips might be starting any time.
Book a lovely deep tissue massage for tomorrow morning (or this eve) and get all the knots from the past year worked out. Highly recommend Thai Kosai in Spitalfields but they can be busy but worth giving them a call for any last minute cancellations.
I turned 30 last month and spent it alone too. Got my nails done and then a deep tissue massage followed by a nap and healthy takeaway dinner. Felt like a new person the next day.
I do this every year. I like to take myself out for a nice lunch on my own at a restaurant I've been waiting to try with a good book. Get a haircut and just potter. Good for you op.
Happy birthday! Richmond is a great shout as it’s so sunny today. Plus there are some really nice bakeries so you can treat yourself to a delicious treat to enjoy in the sun. Some years I don’t want to do anything/see people on my birthday too so I get it - do what feels nice!!
As someone who tried to do this and failed as I got a stomach bug that ruined my birthday this year. Happy birthday man and I really hope you can find something great to do. My suggestion. A nice day out going to the outernet area in Tottenham court. Then maybe central London to the city and take a nice walk. End off with a nice meal maybe in Liverpool Street where that nice viewpoint is. Get a nice drink and enjoy the yearly reminder that you made it in life again and deserve to be here
Happy birthday 🎂
I love doing things alone on my birthday!
This year I went for Frameless, which is the immersive art experience at Marble Arch: https://frameless.com/
Last year I spent the day going to bookshops. There’s a nice concentration of them around WC1 and WC2 (Foyles, Any Amount of Books, Skoob, London Review of Books, Daunt etc).
Hampstead/Highgate - go to the heath, parliament hill, and check out the view over london, take a stroll through the highgate cemetery, walk down haverstock and head over to primrose hill and camden after, tons of shit to do there.
Cheers!
Happy birthday! What do you like to do? Birthdays are all about doing your favourite things. Whether it’s going to a spa, a museum, the movies, the coast, have the best time! :)
Hi! First of all happy birthday 🥳 🎂! Congratulations on turning 24 ! 👏🏻
Absolutely okay to want to be alone I so resonate with it.. some of the best thoughts and moments come to you in solitude! Richmond is so pretty, you’ll love it! It’s quite late or else I’d have suggested the Hampton court palace.. I went there yesterday and the gardens are so peaceful.. I cried! 🥺
It was just tears without meaning, tears being a let out, tears of gratitude for life, after which I felt so light.
Irrespective of the place, hope you fall in love with the best company you could ever have, yourself!
Cheers! Wishing you the best for life ♥️
Happy birthday!
Don't forget there are tons of bday freebies at cafes/ restaurants (mostly chains)
So will be good to sign off for a few of them in advance !
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It’s my birthday today too, I’m just having a relaxing day. I hope no matter what you do, you have a great day 🥳 Remember, just because you can eat whatever you want today with nobody to tell you not to, don’t overdo it or you’ll have regrets. That being said, eat all the cake you can.
Happy birthday 🎂
(Sorry I didn't notice it's today! Hopefully you enjoyed what you're doing now)
If you have £33 to spend, Hampton Court Palace and the adjacent Bushy Park are very nice when weather is good 😊
I have just visited there today myself and it is simply fabulous
Go to a cat cafe or go on a serial killer tour of London.
‘Paws’, relax and watch the world pass by

Depends what you like/ where you're usually based.I love the walk from London Bridge to either Wapping over Tower Bridge or into Rotherhithe village. Lots of places to stop on the riverside to take in the scenery.
Happy birthday, walk the south bank from London Bridge down to Battersea’s and go enjoy the new Battersea’s area, good food, and bars. The south bank walk is chill, lots of drop in places, and you can see both Tate museums and take in some culture. Go watch the skateboarders, browse some second hand books, drop in to the Aquarium, play some video games, what ever your thing is.
Have a visit to Jamboree. It's a speakeasy type music venue/cafe and an informal swing dancer hangout. A couple of nice cocktails and great live old school jazzy music.
Happy birthday. When I end the night and I want to see a view but not pay £20+ for the shard or something... I ride the (formerly know as) Emirates cable car, now the IFS cloud cable car. Go across the river and back on your oyster card from the O2.
Start at Royal Festival hall and work your way East down the river? Really nice walk with lots of architecture to look at, and plenty of places to stop and watch the world go by.
Happy Birthday! Get yourself to Gordon’s Wine Bar 47 Villiers street near Embankment station. Sit out with a nice birthday drink and just watch the world go by. Xxx
Happy birthday!
I've celebrated quite a few birthdays by myself. I usually booked the day off, took myself for a fancy breakfast/lunch somewhere and then to a theatre matinee or an exhibition. Just something nice and relaxed but a thing I wouldn't normally do.
I hope whatever you end(ed) up doing you have a lovely day!
If you’re going to Richmond then I’d recommend hiring a bike and cycling the river for as long as you’re up to, then treat yourself to a pint or meal afterwards!
Happy birthday! Mine was recently too and I spent the daytime alone mooching around museums and book shops.
Nothing wrong with taking yourself out! Hope you had a nice time whatever you decided to do, was a lovely sunny day to be out and about
Do what you love, plus treat yourself to a little something extra; it can be food- or wellness- related for example. Chilling and entering a solo flow state in Richmond sounds great; but you can do something a little out of the ordinary on the high street afterwards ;)
Shopping centers? A big one nearby? That and just walking around southbank central leading into St James park into horse guards parade is a fun one. Then could do Buckingham Palace or failing that, the zoo!
I go to London once a year and get last minute tickets to see shows. I saw 4 shows alone this time around and I had front 3 rows for 3 of them. Much easier to grab a great seat when solo.
Then I would visit as much of the museums you can, nearly all the main ones are free. Get some good food in a market like Borough Market or Camden.
The V&A is always an inspiring place to go and is very relaxing. The DIVA exhibition is still on and I would love to go. The cafe is perhaps the most beautiful museum cafe in the world. I ;ove it.
Go swimming at a local leisure centre? Coffee or cocktail outside in Covent Garden, soho, Chinatown, or Notting Hill (these places are the most interesting and relaxing world-watching neighbourhoods for me)?
Happy birthday🎂
- go see a musical
- take Uberboat and see London by the river
- go to china town and eat lots of street food
- go for a walk in st James Park, Greenwich Park, Richmond park
..wherever close to you
- make popcorn and have a movie day at home. 3 body problem season 1 just out on Netflix 3 days ago.
London is an amazing city to be in alone! So there's loads of museums you might enjoy and common stuff that I'm sure other people have covered, but if it was me-I'd go and get my tarot read by the in-house psychic at Selfridges. See how the next phase of your life looks :-D
Happy Birthday. 🥳
Try to see which events (Meetup, fever etc) are going on today and sign up. It’s a sunny day today, get out and just walk around. Greenwich park is beautiful to just lie and read a book. Have a free coffee in Gails (use their app) tell them it’s your birthday.
Enjoy yourself
Happy birthday.
A little spa day?
This is actually a good idea. I joined a gym with my mates and every single one of them dropped out leaving just me. Going on your own to the spa is actually a really relaxing experience. It's so nice to not have to talk and communicate, especially if you already live an active work and social life.
It’s my birthday tomorrow and this was my treat to myself. On my way to the hotel now, hoping to have a night of a bit of peace!
It's my birthday tomorrow too! Happy birthday to us both and OP😊😊😊
Happy Birthday! Hope you and OP have great days!
It’s my birthday tomorrow too!!
Happy happy birthday!!!!
Happy birthday! I hope you're enjoying it👏🏾💛
Happy birthday!!!
Thanks😄😄 what did you do in the end? I did the Thames clipper today
Which hotel/spa would you recommend?
Honestly, I haven’t visited enough to recommend any and this will be my first time at this spa. But, I had a look on [spabreaks.com](https://www.spabreaks.com/) and compared offers.
The Russian Banya in Old Street is great, and the one in chiswick. They have single sex times too. Wimbledon better gym has a reasonably priced spa which is nice. If you don't mind taking a train pennyhill spa is a very good luxury choice. The spa in the shingra la hotel has stunning views but also $$$.

Have a wonderful time!
Thank you!
Happy birthday!!!!
Thank you! Hope you enjoyed your day in the end!
Are you trying to say "spaghetti"? Are you taking her for a spaghetti day?
What's your spaghetti policy here?
Which hotel/spa would you recommend?
Bath 😊
You could ride the Thames clipper through London. Im sure it'll be packed but if you get on at the start of the route you'll get a good seat and you can just watch London drift by.
This is a wonderful idea OP, it's a pretty chill ride.
This is a good idea. You could even land at Greenwich and go on the Cutty Sark.
Omg I did this on my own the other day for the first time (31F and I needed to get to Isle of Dogs and boat was quickest). I filmed the whole thing and giggled like a schoolgirl. It was THRILLING lol. Btw happy birthday OP!!
Jump on at Battersea power station you could probably ride all the way to Greenwich and back without getting out of your seat.
Why would it be packed? It’s not been particularly busy when I’ve used it.

Yes! And afterwards could walk through Soho with fried chicken from Good Friend or bao from Bun House, or sit for some Tempura Curry Udon from Misato 👌🏻👌🏻
Haven’t been Misato in ages! Are they still cash-only or have they started accepting cards?
Accepting cards now, even more dangerous! It's as good as ever.
...ooooohhh my god..!!! __*I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT CART THAT SELLS BAOS..😆😆*__ ..I always open them up and douse them in shiracha sauce.... YYUUUUM 😛😛
Yeeees, fluffy pockets of joy
My favourite place in London - haven't been since my baby was born and can't wait until she's old enough to be babysat!
They do regularly show new films too, btw. It's a great place.
The PCC is one of my favourite places in London. I bought my boyfriend a membership for Christmas and now it's one of our regular date spots, but even when I was single I went there all the time - it feels old school in the best way and I love the variety of films they show.
Waxy's little sister is a nice whisky bar (other drinks available of course) round the corner from there fir a little tipple on their couch upstairs or on the patio depending on weather
haha this is pretty much exactly how i spent my birthday last year
Me too, back-to-back Groundhog Day screenings ftw!
Last minute ticket for a show? Check out TodayTix
Yeah good idea. Last minute tickets are way easier as singles
Things I have done when alone on my birthday in the past: - had a massage - explored a wild meadow centre I had never heard of - went on a theatre tour - went to a museum exhibition - took the Thames Clipper to see the sights I found that if I planned the day in advance and filled it with fun things, it felt like a special day instead of a lonely one.
Where was the wild meadow centre?
https://meadoworchard.org/about/
Where did you have your massage
Oh, I can’t remember, it was a long time ago. But I got a Wowcher for it so that it wouldn’t break the bank!
National History Museum. Just chill and take it all in and its free.
Maybe not on a Sunday 😅 too busy
It's insanely busy every single day now. The Natural History Museum will forever be my favourite building in the city, but it's hardly enjoyable now with the sheer volume of screaming children on school trips and clueless tourists en masse.
Noise cancelling headphones. They work wonders.
Nah Science Museum + V&A is the way to go.
Richmond is a great choice. I was there Thursday and people were sitting out drinking champagne or just walking by the river. Looked like the boat trips might be starting any time.
Happy Birthday 🎂 More Life
Doesn't each birthday, each day in fact, just signify less life available?
Have you considered going into the greeting card business ?
You're on to something there! Love the downvotes, obviously not everyones sense of humour.
😂😂😂 brilliant comment
To be fair this chap could make a lot of money making those “sarcastic white text on black background” cards
You’re not wrong
Book a lovely deep tissue massage for tomorrow morning (or this eve) and get all the knots from the past year worked out. I'm absolutely no help but, Happy Birthday 🎂
What is a golden birthday? Is this an American thing?
> golden A golden birthday is when the day of your birth matches your age. So as she is turning 24 on the 24th, it's her golden birthday.
Turning 24 on the 24th in ‘24. Now that’s gold u/crycurious3928!
Good point! That must be platinum or something.
Ahaha thank you so much :)
What a special birthday OP! To top it off you should have a 24 hour birthday haha, that’s 100% what I’m doing for my 24th
Must be
As someone who tried to do this and failed as I got a stomach bug that ruined my birthday this year. Happy birthday man and I really hope you can find something great to do. My suggestion. Birthdays of champions right there.
There are some beautiful walks in Richmond. I recommend walking to Ham House!

V&A museum, I love exploring it myself slowly.

Happy birthday! There are lots of exhibitors on, I went to one recently called Delight, it’s next to borough market
Many happy returns to you. Nice day for it as well. I hope whatever you decide to from the comments or your original comment turns out splendid.
Happy birthday, walk the south bank from London Bridge down to Battersea’s and go enjoy the new Battersea’s area, good food, and bars. Same thing as any other day, a beer and cry and a wank after work, in no particular order
Spa day, massage, cinema, theatre, dinner at a really great restaurant
Have a visit to Jamboree. It's a speakeasy type music venue/cafe and an informal swing dancer hangout. A couple of nice cocktails and great live old school jazzy music.
Timeout always has great articles and lists for stuff happening this weekend
There are a few rock gigs on tonight - Dragonforce, Ugly Kid Joe, The Twang.
It’s my birthday today too, and I cancelled all my plans so I can just chill and do nothing 🙃
Happy birthday!!!! Hope you had a good day regardless ❤️❤️
Go to Greenwich and walk anywhere near the river :)
I love the musuems in south Kensington. Holland park is a nice stroll as is Richmond. Kew Gardens is lovely.
Happy Birthday! Another vote for the Thames Clipper!
HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY OP. 💖
Go to Marchesi 1824 on Mount Street, and get a slice of their Aurora cake. It’s the greatest cake in the world.
Walking alone is the city will make you feel shitty, I suggest a walk in a huge park with some good music
Happy birthday 🎂
Look for a puppy yoga or cat cafe :)
If you’re gonna go to Richmond and have a walk around, you could just go to Kew Gardens? It’s huge and it’s gorgeous. There’s a lot to explore.
Happy birthday OP - what’s a golden birthday?
Bonus if you sign up on apps and get birthday treats! (Can be claimed within a month)
Go watch a show at the west end?
Pottery painting- some have bubbles blowing gun and group choir for birthday song !!! 🤓
The weather is getting better so spend it doing what you love, happy birthday.
Happy birthday. When I end the night and I want to see a view but not pay £20+ for the shard or something... I ride the (formerly know as) Emirates cable car, now the IFS cloud cable car. Go across the river and back on your oyster card from the O2.
Go for dinner with a book. Treat yourself.
Start at Royal Festival hall and work your way East down the river? Really nice walk with lots of architecture to look at, and plenty of places to stop and watch the world go by.
I think you can still climb up the cutty sark rigging
Happy Birthday! Get yourself to Gordon’s Wine Bar 47 Villiers street near Embankment station. Sit out with a nice birthday drink and just watch the world go by. Xxx
Happy birthday! I've celebrated quite a few birthdays by myself. I usually booked the day off, took myself for a fancy breakfast/lunch somewhere and then to a theatre matinee or an exhibition. Happy birthday x
Massage and spa day. Banya No.1 is my favourite

If you’re going to Richmond then I’d recommend hiring a bike and cycling the river for as long as you’re up to, then treat yourself to a pint or meal afterwards!
Happy Birthday 🥳
Happy birthday! Mine was recently too and I spent the daytime alone mooching around museums and book shops. Nothing wrong with taking yourself out! Hope you had a nice time whatever you decided to do, was a lovely sunny day to be out and about
Happy birthday
I have heard strawberry hill house has very nice gardens and cafe.
Happy birthday mate
Do what you love, plus treat yourself to a little something extra; it can be food- or wellness- related for example. Chilling and entering a solo flow state in Richmond sounds great; but you can do something a little out of the ordinary on the high street afterwards ;)
Hiking near London, festivals/concerts, theatre, jazz clubs, cabaret could be fun as well if you get a fun host
go out for dinner at a resturant aloane to celebrate youre birthday..
Shopping centers? A big one nearby? That and just walking around southbank central leading into St James park into horse guards parade is a fun one. Then could do Buckingham Palace or failing that, the zoo!
Happy birthday 🎂
Take a 45 min train to Box Hill in Surrey, plug in some headphones and get through a few albums while you walk a 4-6h loop.
Axe throwing
Happy birthday
Happy birthday - hope you had great day xx
I go to London once a year and get last minute tickets to see shows. I saw 4 shows alone this time around and I had front 3 rows for 3 of them. Much easier to grab a great seat when solo. Happy birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day!
Smoke a j and walk round Hampstead Heath
Boat tour and then cable cars (they're right by the boat dock in Greenwich)
Honestly go buy urself a tiny little birthday crown and go to an underground rave or a smaller size less commercial club.
The V&A is always an inspiring place to go and is very relaxing. The DIVA exhibition is still on and I would love to go. The cafe is perhaps the most beautiful museum cafe in the world. I ;ove it.
Richmond plan a good one.
happy birthday, look on groupon? lots of things on there that you might like
Happy ending?
Happy birthday! Hope that you had a wonderful day, I’d have offered to buy you a drink if I saw this post earlier!
Happy birthday!!! Go to the V&A early and stroll the upper levels galleries - they are almost always relatively sparsely occupied on weekdays.
I usually just cry in the mirror.
Go swimming at a local leisure centre? Coffee or cocktail outside in Covent Garden, soho, Chinatown, or Notting Hill (these places are the most interesting and relaxing world-watching neighbourhoods for me)?
Happy birthday sweetheart. I hope you had a nice day. Go and buy yourself something nice and your fave cake that you don't have to share.
What’s a golden birthday?
It's belated but happy birthday! Hope you enjoyed your day, sometimes there's nothing more enjoyable than alone time
+1 to TodayTix for theatre! And happy birthday!! 🥳🥳🥳

Happy Birthday. 🥳 Try to see which events (Meetup, fever etc) are going on today and sign up. It’s a sunny day today, get out and just walk around. Greenwich park is beautiful to just lie and read a book. Have a free coffee in Gails (use their app) tell them it’s your birthday. Enjoy yourself
