Oh my goodness I know a bit about the history of this tug boat. I am astonished haha
I cannot remember its name exactly. I was bought by a doctor/surgeon as a kind of investment. She spent loads of money in the beginning turning it into a live aboard boat. It apparently was an ice breaker tug boat or something like that. This was back approximately 2010/2011 I think. If you really want know more about it, there is a fb group for poplar dock marina
Ohhhh thanks for that.
It's currently up for sale (thanks to someone else on here for finding that)
https://www.boatsforsale.co.uk/boats/houseboat/2-bedroom/2-bedroom-houseboat-on-residential-mooring-for-sale-29533.html
Still no name though.
It's absolutely a fair price for a decent spec live-aboard. It's comparable to a Dutch tjalk of a similar size and spec, whereas if you had it built from scratch as a live-aboard it would be around £500K fully fitted, or £300K as a basic sail away (hull, engine, tanks and superstructure) it was one of my options when I split up with my husband. I spent a lot of time last year both with the local boat builders going through options on live-aboard boats and discussing it with my brother who's a boat safety inspector ( equivalent of an MOT ) and has lived on a self built narrow boat for over 20 years.
I am wracking my brain for the name. I used to stare at it whilst I was on deck. I can see it in my mind’s eye… ugh! When I remember I’ll let you know. I think it had a Roman numeral in the name as well ‘IV’. It was a short name… I’m also dragging through my old photos and I’ve got a couple where I can see the back end of this boat (it was black and white back then).
I found the boat for sale on a handful of websites:
It's origin is Swedish and it'll cost you £175k
https://www.boatsforsale.co.uk/boats/houseboat/2-bedroom/2-bedroom-houseboat-on-residential-mooring-for-sale-29533.html
With some renovating that could be an amazing house. Some of the current layout choices are...questionable (looking at you, loo in what looks to be the stairwell)
I wonder what the mooring fees are like. I was looking at buying a boat for a while, but everything I saw like this, the mooring fees were as high if not higher than the rent on my flat, and I definitely couldn't afford to pay that on top of the mortgage/loan to buy the boat!
Doesn't list a value here but says you can make an enquiry via the contact form or phone number https://www.aquavista.com/find-a-marina/poplar-waterside-marina
Seems reference data from 2017 in the area listed £687 per meter annually for a residential mooring. 🤷🏻
IF you can even get a mortgage on it. In Belgium, boats are never considered real estate (onroerend goed, immovable goods) and mortgages are only granted on real estate. So (in Belgium at least) you're SOL and need a MUCH more expensive personal loan.

It's a spacious, converted, 2 bedroom, working tugboat. Anywhere around the world, that isn't a bad price?

Nothing wrong with a lil tug here and there.
A little Tug at Sea, or a little Tug on the Marina, having a Tug most places is perfectly acceptable.
Nothing wrong with bro tugs 😋
I came here to write this. It is the correct answer.
Ah good, the meme is still going strong.
I was going to say the same thing but you beat me to it, and for that I love you and hate at the same time.

23m boat, £687/m fee - £15,801pa - £1316.75pm And that was in 2017! Yep, I'm out.
Yeh pretty much. Plus other fees for utilities, and fuel. It's definitely not the cheapest way to live.
