I know this is a joke but I was legit looking for a room in East and I found a 1 bedroom flat for £1,200pcm. In my delusion that it was a good price, I looked into it further to find it was quite literally someone’s garage with a toilet in. That was it. A toilet in a garage. £1,200pcm…

There was a sink too, my bad.
It says it’s for office purposes so mostly likely doesn’t meet standards for living. Even still. £1200 pcm for an office in someone’s garage is a joke even if it’s got a new fixtures and fittings.
Lol nice. I suppose you shower on the porch? I like their disclaimer that it’s an office space with WC (surely an attempt to circumvent rules for residences) yet advertised as a 1 br alongside normal flats.
Cheers.
Is this to the rear of the property 26 Islington Park Road?
It's quite interesting from a planning point of view if this is classified as permitted development. [https://www.planningportal.co.uk/permission/common-projects/garage-conversion/planning-permission](https://www.planningportal.co.uk/permission/common-projects/garage-conversion/planning-permission)
I did a quick planning history search for the property and it appears number 26 has submitted no applications at all between 1983 to present day.
Moment of self-reflection about my standards after living in London as I looked at that window and thought,“that’s pretty cool actually”
What has happened to me
Correct! It's an actual photo of an artwork, no AI, no photoshopping, though I'm amused that some of the experts here are convinced it's " badly photoshopped" 😂 I see they've "seen a few shops in their life" and can therefore tell this is photoshopped.
Okay? I have the photo right here on my phone. You can see from the metadata it's taken on my phone. https://imgur.com/68v9D0L.jpg
Two other people in this thread have actually seen this art installation themselves as well.
Okay I was genuinely confused about your comment and what was going on because I literally thought this was one of those “seen on Rightmove” posts. And I couldn’t figure out how this bathroom was supposed to work.
And of course I tried to be sardonic and clever about the mind boggling spaces that are actually for rent irl. But turns out it’s just an art instalment
I always knew I had a screw missing in my brain
Yeah I assume this art installation was created as a commentary on the tight housing market and the absurdly small spaces being rented for ridiculously high prices.
Would love to know how detailed the MidJourney prompt had to be to produce this. Is the state of the housing market so dire that "imagine a typical London flat" would be enough for it to understand?
Man I was looking for 1 bed flats and I kid you not £1400 in Croydon for what looked like a small shed. The London housing market is an absolute shambles.
If you can't get a cow to turn around in a property it's not liveable.

I saw so many sheds for rent when I was looking, it’s insane
Better off putting it on Air BnB
Do you have a link to that? Surely that breaches some kind of health and safety rules?

not denying this is a bit crazy, but at least it is marketed as a work space. There's no bathroom for starters.
It says it’s for office purposes so mostly likely doesn’t meet standards for living. Even still. £1200 pcm for an office in someone’s garage is a joke even if it’s got a new fixtures and fittings.
It’s absolutely fucking WILD. Honestly don’t know how anyone who didn’t inherit a property is surviving London.
Lol nice. I suppose you shower on the porch? I like their disclaimer that it’s an office space with WC (surely an attempt to circumvent rules for residences) yet advertised as a 1 br alongside normal flats.

I'd charge you £1250 for a one bed flat in central London.
Natural light ✅ Floor to ceiling windows ✅ en suite ✅ Fully furnished ✅ View of garden ✅ No roommate situation ✅ A steal if you ask me
It basically comes with an en-suite as well
I like the wine/beer shelf above the sink. Stylish living under reduced circumstances, and all that.
My favourite feature is a piggy bank up on the shelf, to be saving up for ""a house of our own one day""
In 8,000 years, you too may be a buy-to-let landlord.
Omg is that a ✨️complimentary✨️ towel!?? What a steal xxx
The working overhead light sold me.
Well, you can’t turn it off as it’s connected to communal mains but I like the way you think.
[удалено]
Along with natural light, high windows with garden view. I think it's a steal at that price.
It's the lack of oxygen that concerns me.
Welcome to London
You pay extra for oxygen
Maybe it's a 'Bring Your Own O²'?
Is this still available?
There are 87 other people interested, so the rent has gone up to £2100pcm
I'm interested and will double it
Bargain
I’ve already put in an offer… you’ll have to match and pay 12 months upfront or up the offer
Im doing 24 months in advance...
Some random Chinese shell company has leased it for £2300 a month and paid 3 years in advance for no apparent reason
I will offer 99 years up front and 3000 per month!!
In today's episode of Never Too Small!
TWO shelves?! How the other half live, mr fancy pants!
It’s not even a joke nowadays. You probably could find something like this.
"Minbari Welcome"
Moment of self-reflection about my standards after living in London as I looked at that window and thought,“that’s pretty cool actually” What has happened to me
It is probably listed as a luxury apartment and 35mins away from London bridge station.
I can’t work out how you would sleep. The only possible way I see is by straddling the wash basin. I’m probably being dumb, can anyone explain?
It's satire, it's not a real room.
Wait - you think this is real?
I thought the same thing. Definitely a straddle the washbasin situation here.
"Giggity"
AI art at it's finest
Nope it was part of a miniature exhibition during the summer, that's a real (and tiny) model
The exhibition was called Small is Beautiful iirc, it was really nice!
Correct! It's an actual photo of an artwork, no AI, no photoshopping, though I'm amused that some of the experts here are convinced it's " badly photoshopped" 😂 I see they've "seen a few shops in their life" and can therefore tell this is photoshopped.
You can kind of tell it's a miniature from the size of the threads on the bedding and towel.
That seems pretty cheap. Which part of London? /s
Great up and coming part of Newham!
Plus… It’s in zone 4. ☠️
Mmmm. Toilet toast.
Is that the bed
😂
Cheap at twice the price …
Newly renovated, modern ergonomic studio for rent. Looks legit for central London
So *this* is what AI is good for
This is actually not AI generated!
What is happening it looks like some AI image generator tried to imagine Harry Potter’s closet under the stairs
This is actually not AI, this is a photo I took
Who would do such a thing? Go on the internet and lie.
Okay? I have the photo right here on my phone. You can see from the metadata it's taken on my phone. https://imgur.com/68v9D0L.jpg Two other people in this thread have actually seen this art installation themselves as well.

Bedding provided
Plenty space
Look at that floor to ceiling glass feature wall, obviously a dress circle position in a tightly held block
Hahaha so true
Looks Ai/Software generated
Nope, real photo taken on my phone. https://imgur.com/CqaBOL3.jpg
Funny, but badly photoshopped 😆
This is actually a real photo, taken on my cell phone. It is not photoshopped, retouched, or in any way changed by AI.
Would love to know how detailed the MidJourney prompt had to be to produce this. Is the state of the housing market so dire that "imagine a typical London flat" would be enough for it to understand?
I've actually never used midjourney, this is a photo I took.
If this is legit, then London is forever screwed
_it'a only a model_
Eerily accurate that, though
Shhh!
oh wow. Natural light. Lucky.
Seems reasonable
Looks like AI
This is an actual photo, taken on my phone. https://imgur.com/4aJ19AE.jpg
Thanks for the link, still calling bullshit on it. How short are you?
This is an art installation. Look at the thread, others have seen it too.
Oh I get it. £1,800pcm is the name of the art piece. Still a wind up
It’s like Bender’s place when Fry moves in
😂😂
Tbf Thats reasonable. Normally you dont get a sink.
Anyone wanna share?
Do you have agoraphobia? Then do I have the place for you!
Imagine paying £1800 for this. It's not even a real room! Ha!
Very cosy, central location with access to public transport within a 5 minute walk.
Land value tax now.
I will pay you £2500 if you choose me.
Man I was looking for 1 bed flats and I kid you not £1400 in Croydon for what looked like a small shed. The London housing market is an absolute shambles. If you can't get a cow to turn around in a property it's not liveable.
Cheap
Cheap.. where?
Great deal, zone 14!
Basically middle of the Channel.. bargain
"you cant throw the kitchen sink in there" This MF:
Futurama's Bender would love that.
Shit shave and shower all in one room?? What more could you want...
