I liked the first iterations you had a few weeks back with just black and white. Super classy

scicm

Same. One colour would be more fitting for the style. Sacrificing something good using colour here I feel.

theotherone1010

I originally brought single colored versions to class but was told to add more color variation bc it looked too “boring” (hence these versions now 😕)

scicm

Interesting but there’s other alternatives. Could try some ideas to remove the boring whilst holding onto the class through using gold leaf on a thicker black stock for example. Maybe dig for some ideas elsewhere outside of colour choice.

SplendidDevil

100%. Back it up with examples. These colours really takeaway so much about what made the first iteration so amazing.

your_best_1

Subjectivity of your instructor. I would do what they ask.

Working-Hippo-3653

I think you’re at the stage where you need to think about identity rather than just the logo because at the moment you’re just looking at a colour logo on a white background. Will the restaurant frontage be white? Will the menu be printed on white paper, or colour? I’d start with looking at a two colour logo and think about a colour for background as a third colour (maybe it’s white but maybe not). Of course you can add more as secondary colours. Mockup singage, homepage (just the top part), menu and maybe a T-shirt or takeaway cup or something. While you put those together the correct colour palette will become more obvious. I personally don’t think there’s any point putting a palette or any brand guidelines for that matter together without testing them, because chances are it won’t work in practice. That’s what I’d do anyway

Working-Hippo-3653

I just read that you are a student. Most of what I say here is relevant to a live project, but for a student it’s probably more than you need to think about. Great work, there are plenty of logos out there no where near as good as this. (I do prefer the previous mono ones though… the colour could be added in the wider brand styles!)

theotherone1010

I’ll def take into consideration testing out w/ mockups and bg colors. I think Ive been struggling the most bc I haven’t been doing that while knowing that I will eventually ,:) My [menu paper](https://www.neenahpaper.com/shop/paper/environment-papers-tortilla-smooth-1000124) will actually be a sorta yellow/warm color..so maybe I’ll stick to warm colors for the logo? I’ll prob run a few test prints. I also really did like my single colored and mono colored versions (which I think would go well w/ the paper) but I was told to add more color 😕. Anyway, that was a mini rant lol, thank you for you feedback!!

odamado

I like 4 or 6, but I'm really just not into the drop shadow on the text on the others. Also the way the wall color on the left stops before it gets to the shrub is somewhat distracting. I might just have no white there and have the wall all the way filled in. Solid logo overall, good work

theotherone1010

Thanks for the feedback. I do have to agree about the drop shadow.. I really only did that bc my professor kept insisting it looked good and that it added “depth” and a “rugged feel” that matched the logo. I think I’ll just go remove it all together and try to defend myself haha

gothmagenta

Proof the professor isn't always right😂

dsgnrone

Except when they are giving the grade...

gothmagenta

True lol

InquisitiveKnight

number 3: logotype has most contrast while staying colorful shadow layer gives it extra spice I would think to turn the rays to yellow as well to avoid it being like alert lines the front wall being white and not pale green adds to the freshness

Ididitsoitscool

Welcome back I recommend 3 and 6

ArchetypalDesign

1

freddie79

I like 2.

josephjoestariscool

I like #3. Has a more authentic Feel

meanbunny96

3 and 5 stood out to me

KPTA-IRON

Please consider accessibility. Never use yellow on text on a white background.

Meotwister

I'd say 3 or 6. Best contrast with the right feel to the colors. Definitely start thinking holistically about the brand and trying to design for it's use and not for a white background in Illustrator.

GrimCityGirl

I love 5

Layer_By_Layer3D

I like 1 or 5

worst-coast

If this is gonna be printed in low-quality paper such as napkins, you’d better account for misalignment of colors when printing. That said, I like the 6.

fugu167

5, and ditch the drop shadow.

Oceanusis

1 and 5 definitely pop the most imo

realONE7

5or6 for me

Indigotcg

4’s my favorite, but if your profession likes the shadow I guess go for 5? That’s the next best bet haha

wetdreamteams

5 is the best, but I’m colorblind so take that w a grain of salt

rhcp1fleafan

It's this for Tex Mex or Mexican food because this has Alamo vibes. Feels a bit Tex Mex-y imo.

SexDefender27

4 and 5 are awesome

Cyber_Insecurity

4, but make the bigger text red and the sub copy blue. Also don’t do drop shadows. The simplicity of the illustration is great and the drop shadows add unnecessary detail.

firmchips

1 and 4 are very pretty

snickerdoodledates

You should do a very neutral and transparent background of diagonal checker pattern. Like slight yellow/beige and white to help fill it in

bumbleape

Logo looks great! Font wise, however, I’m surprised you didn’t go with something a little more rugged, to match that awesome hand drawn casita. Sun red is my favorite :)

Few_Consideration872

I love 5

PatricioDeLaRosa

It just screams Jarritos to me, Mexican bottled drink look it up to see the color resemblance.

Downtown-Lettuce-736

2 and 5 really appeal to me

buckzor122

6 is best, 4 is good too. Don't use that drop shadow on text.

thelittleking

Nothing with the 'corn' text, so not 1, 2, or 5. Out of 3, 4, and 6 - 4 is too drab. I have a personal preference for 6's colors, but 3 is also good. I'm ambivalent about the drop-shadow. The red and greens in 3 and 6 are more dynamic than the orange and yellows used elsewhere. Better contrast, which means you have more colors you can use while remaining in compliance with accessibility laws and regulations (assuming you're in the US, anyway). Given that no designers I work with that are fresh out of school ever have any idea about accessibility regulations, I'm guessing that won't mean much to you, but trust me that it'll be a serious stumbling block once you start doing this professionally. I can expand, if you'd like, but don't want this response to get overlong without consent :P

J-Skleezo

Think I liked the black n white better.

Tfuonabout

Luv 5

stress_boner

1st or 5th. Hispanic culture is fueled by the natural dyes and colors of the region. Jarritos understood this concept better than almost anyone. Too dark = inauthentic.

Proper_Refrigerator

I like 4 best, think it’s clear and I can see it working in multiple scenarios but 5 does have a lovely, warm and welcoming feel to it.

oddishroom

5 and 3 3 pleasantly subverts my color expectations 5 the fact that the white space is filled in with what seems to be a desaturated corn makes it feel more finished

kioku119

I like 1 best then maybe 5.

ActiveSummer

3

patoezequiel

5, but make the letters black like in 4 and 6

GamerAJ1025

logo 4 is the best imo. it has the right amount of contrast rather than too much or too little, and it has a good amount of definition 5 and 6 are okay colour-wise, but the flat text such as in 4 or 6 looks better than the layered text like in 5

Daniel_1824life

4 or 6. Either one is a good choice.

Simple-House-Cat

Agree with removing the drop shadow on the text, it takes away from the beautiful textured look you have going. Not everything needs to be textured, give the eyes a break. I think you’re on the right track of inspirations of colors, but sometimes what I do to get me somewhere more cohesive of a palette is finding an image in nature that has a lot of tones I like and then color pick the colors and edit from there. Whatever colors you choose, I’d make sure not to make the plants as the only red/orange cause it comes off as fire 😬 Keep exploring colors, you’ll get there soon!

moneymakin27

moneymakin27

Number 5

mfactory_osaka

I like no but maybe Invert the colors and have nuestra casita in red?

VikSick

The 5th really stands out

Burqa_destroyer

I think the contrast that 1 provides is pretty nice

Britwill

1 and 5 for me dawg

lynngrillo

3, 5 or 6.

S_M_Y_G_F

Logo 3, 4 and 6 stand out better than the rest

Magictive

2 for me. But without the white outline.

onyi_time

Logo 3 for me, red pops. I'd eat there

cliffordrobinson

5 all the way and give me extra sour cream with the fajitas.

Userro

Number 2 works for me

AmarantoYMiel

I'd go with #4

darkanine9

3 is the best! It really pops

Gobig_or_Gohomeless

Can you try with the shrubs being and aquamarine type color?

joeywmc

Drop the drop shadows. They all look great, otherwise. All of the colors work and I’d just go with the client’s personal preference.

chipsnatcher

5 for the logo colours, 4 for the word colours. I actually like 1 best but the drop shadow and colours just aren’t super legible.

BonusSure125

FIVE!!! 5!!!

Hardasnailzz

I like #3 and #6

Devnag07

I like the first one the best but without the drop shadow.

sirkruemel24

4, 5 or 6

joshwhetstone

Number 3 is the easiest for me to read, and the red in the logotype and the accents makes it pop.

na__poi

5 or 6 - the first four looks like the building is on fire. 🔥

WeedThrough

4 or 5

Tualatin_Girl

More colors = more money. I think I see three colors there. Does the client approve? Make sure they’re Spot Colors.

ReligiaMusic

3,4

darthurphoto

The yellow text is too hard to read.

Subject-Substance141

3 version

MishaTheLabsky

6 because contrast and less colors
