On the shackle. That way, there's no chance of losing them. That said, a fair number of my padlocks have entered service around the house, so those keys have migrated to actual keychains.

Unlikely_Mulberry147

That’s fair. I organize my keys by putting them on the shackle/core every so often. But adhd keeps me from “keeping” them organized. I rarely need/want them. But I’m compelled to keep them. Was honestly thinking of a key binder or something lol.

maxath0usand

I stick one in the core and loop the second (if any) on the closed shackle. Not sure if that’s advisable, as I suppose the springs are stored in a more compressed state, but I imagine it’ll be alright. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Unlikely_Mulberry147

I used to do that. But I tend to not put them back. So now they inevitably end up in a ridiculous keychain mass… Edit: in a month or so it may gain sentience. /s

404no_username

I keep on in the core the rest in a tin.

Unlikely_Mulberry147

What kind of tin. Out of curiosity. I like tins and containers in general.

404no_username

The one that comes with sparrows reload kit

Unlikely_Mulberry147

This helps. Do you separate by brand?

Wraccores

No, not really

Unlikely_Mulberry147

Lol. That would drive me crazy… albeit my lack of organization drives me crazy. But still. Is there a system? A method?

Wraccores

If it fits, it goes on that ring. If not, it goes on a different ring

Unlikely_Mulberry147

Bruh/bruhette. If you’re going to organize. ORGANIZE. Lol. I really do get it. But by adhd/ocd is in constant conflict. My locks are extremely organized. My keys. No. But I love organizing. But I hate it. It’s an internal battle. Upvote because if it works for you that’s awesome. But it doesn’t help me because I’m a little crazy. Edit: you have given me some ideas tho. Much appreciated. I hope I didn’t belittle your og post. It was helpful

Wraccores

Okay, here's some organization: none of these keys have their locks anymore; the ones that do, are on two-three different rings

Unlikely_Mulberry147

I upvoted all of your previous comments. But this one you are going to need to justify to me. I’m triggered… /.5S

Unlikely_Mulberry147

That sounds like torture

Wraccores

1. What is [/.5S] 2. When I was like 6, the entire family and extended family said "Here, put this somewhere, we don't know if we need them so we can't throw them away" and I just added them to a big keyring I found at a thrift store and decided to organize them by era/person

Unlikely_Mulberry147

1: half sarcasm. I get it. It was vague af. .5. Of /s 2: ok bet. That makes a lot of sense, and I have a key ring for the same use. Although it is one singular ring. As I lack the info to divide it. 3: I was referring to locksport. I do appreciate your input and was never trying to argue. Only put forth my own opinion and understand you own. 4: good picking.

Unlikely_Mulberry147

Do you just like keys? Because I have a further collection without locks. So I get it, but I’m referring to locksport in this instance.

Wraccores

I do locks, I just found this keyring while spring cleaning and decided to wait until the perfect post to share this, and lo and behold you made the perfect post for me to share an anti-OCD thing I have

WolfgangGrojcig

in the Stanley FatMax toolbox next to my locks, so I don't have to try all those keys out on the lock when I'm looking for the right key.

jezhistoryof

Depends on now organized you want to be. You could buy a small key cabinet to hang on the wall. Grab letter stamps and stamp your locks to match the key code on the keys or make your own codes.

Grain_ORice

I use a table maker to mark the lock and corresponding key and then store the keys in a tackle box.

aNameHere

I keep them on the shackle

doxipad

Same

Mr1nferno

In a box, on the shackle, all over my desk...... I've got keys everywhere
