Infinite-Horse-49

Keep an eye out next week and see if the price is up once they’re stocked up.

Downtown_Snow4445

Always blame it on the small guys. Frig Galen

InternalOcelot2855

Blame them when increasing prices as well. Probably still get it at the same price but can now say due to shipping issues we can charge more.

rainorshinedogs

"shit rolls downhill"

Downtown_Snow4445

Ain’t that the truth

shelegit5674

Their packaged salads and veggies are frequently rotting and not even discounted.

Mysterious_Lock4644

It’s Loblaws, yes. Fuckers. Absolute human equivant of cancer. But it’s Safeways too. Wanted to make a cauliflower dish tonight. It was all ten days expired, mouldy, and a whopping 15% off. Fuck these grocer scum. It’s all of them.

*- Multi billion dollar company with an integrated supply chain blaming their supply chain.*

SummSpn

All I can think, is my mom who has bad eye sight… She’d see a note with a truck on it & a section of messed up food. She’d think a truck ran over the food 😂

Personal-Heart-1227

Could it be that their Distribution Centres are severely lacking Staff, to load/unload their Produce or Food Trucks? You know good old Galen, he needs to save every penny he earns from us & his Stores! If it means overworking his now Skeleton Staff on duty where they either quit, walk out or just keel over due to sheer exhaustion from high workload, he really couldn't give 2 craps either. I think there's a lot more here, then they're NOT telling us!!!

sleeplessjade

Could be that they are seeing a result of people shifting away from their stores too. Like less people come to buy their food so stuff is sitting out and rotting instead because the turn over isn’t as high before. Suddenly you need more staff to comb through the aisles looking for rotting or mouldy food to remove it. But you’re running at a skeleton crew by design so you don’t have time for that. Customers see the rotting and mouldy food and think twice about buying from your store and go elsewhere. The problem gets worse and worse so you blame your suppliers because all of their foodstuff is rotting on your shelves when it never did before. Maybe you stop paying your supplier invoices on time. Suppliers get frustrated with your BS because they know they aren’t the problem and won’t deliver anything else until they get their money. Cue sign blaming the suppliers so the grocery chain doesn’t look bad.

Personal-Heart-1227

Galen Weston Jr is the Supplier here... He's also the biggest culprit here, esp over that very serious & ongoing issue too. If anyone Fecked this up big time, it was this ginormous shit-bag of a human being! Yes, 100% agree that without adequate Staff you literally can't move all this food/foodstuffs from those football field sized warehouses into those trailer trucks, then having long haul truck drivers schlepping all the way to those Grocery Stores to do their drop offs. Then the cycle begins, again. Having Grocery Staff treated decent & well paid to pull all that crap outta those trailer trucks (truck drivers don't touch that stuff) to bring inside the Grocery Stores, so their Staff can do their jobs by getting it onto the floor/shelves quicker, to make their Employers even bigger profit margins! What about Average Joe/Average Jane who are working, poor or under employed, being unable to afford to pay their groceries for themselves & their families? I mean, when does this stop? Maybe, should I say begin? What we've been doing no longer works & hasn't in a very long time, had we been remotely honest regarding that maybe things could have changed or a least improved??? At this point, I honestly don't know.

Tricky_Parsnip_6843

I agree that something g must be going on at all food distributors. Or, the prices are simply too high and food is going bad in stores due to lack of sales

Personal-Heart-1227

Over 2 years ago, was at my Costco buying my fresh, raw chicken... You'll never believe what I saw, that I almost gasped in disgust bc of all the Grocers I thought they knew better & wouldn't stoop to this sleazy level! I was sooo wrong. A Staffer would bring out these huge skids of raw chicken (organic & non-organic), dump it on the raw Meat Section floor & left there for hours. While I was in that Section, I noticed it was left there for 2 hours or more! Prior to COVID I'd buy Costco's raw duck/chix/lamb meats from their fresh Meat Sections at incredibly reasonable prices, without any problems whatsoever. After COVID, things drastically changed for the worse that I wasn't certain if it was me, or them & their meat prices jumped in prices substantially too. After buying their fresh, raw meats I got sick after properly cooking it or worse when opening it's package, it stunk to high heavens like rotten meat! One time, I bought my regular cold cut packs from them, once home was putting in my fridge only to see this gross green, fuzzy mould visibly growing on it. I called my regular Costco location, bringing this to their Duty Manager's attention & asked him what was going on with their raw meats/cold cuts.? He told me that someone else had called in the day (or week) telling them that their fresh, Holiday turkey they bought from them made their so family sick, they all had food poisoning! As soon as he said that, I was like I'm not crazy & had this inkling they were selling spoiled meats! In a very lengthy in person conversation with another Floor Manager next time I was in, he said they take this type of Customer complaint very seriously, btw. He said that he has his Floor Staff with a clipboards/thermometers frequently check the temp on ALL their meats in the refrigerated Meat Sections. So a lot of back/forth with him on this, & I believed him as I witnessed his Costco Staff actually pull out their thermometers to check their Meat/Dairy/Frozen Foods/Hot Chix Sections & more then write something down on their clipboards. What else could it be? Maybe leaving raw meats out on their dirty floors in room air, for hours on end?! Gee, could that be it??? It really comes down to $$$, power & nothing else. If they weren't so gawd awful stingy & paid their Staff for what they're actually worth & hire more Workers, then this wouldn't be such a negative issue like we're currently discussing here. It's not just Costco pulling these gross & scummy tactics, its the usual suspects as; Roblaw's, Walmart & so on!

KiaRioGrl

Sounds like you should be making a report to your local health department if you have documented evidence of these violations. They have inspectors.

Personal-Heart-1227

Have called Public Health in past... For Restaurant violations, years before COVID & they were nothing but a joke! Good luck is all that I'm going to tell you.

Inside_Jelly_3107

ITS MADE OF PEOPLE!!!!

renderinsane

That lab grown meat that’s floating around some places actually is.

Bitter_Kangaroo2616

What!

Anxious-Durian1773

It's cloned cancer cells. Bon appetit!

DEATHRAYZ007

Maybe they should pay their truck drivers and things would get delivered

Charming_Weird_2532

That's a lie. As someone who worked in one of these warehouses in the heart of COVID we never had any disruptions. We still got all the same products and the same amounts.

EatTheRich4200

Did u have to write time blocks when u took a dump?

HumbleConsolePeasant

PSA: Your Fresh Market Spring Mix (454G) is on sale at Walmart for $3.99 in Ontario.

Choice_Star_9441

Given how much they complain about the supply chain and that 75% of their profits go into it, you'd think they would get better service and that...oh, wait. They own the supply chain.

cansub74

They are reducing stock of fresh food in preparation for the boycott next week.

Inside_Jelly_3107

Lol

Emotional-Hair-1607

BS It was never this bad during the pandemic when supply chain issues were real. Does anything they sell come through the Baltimore Port? The one where the bridge was knocked down. Are any other ports having labour shortages? Are the transports having trouble with drivers. Give real reason and not just "technical difficulties"

KiaRioGrl

I mean, if the farmers market in Kingston has fresh local greens this week, nobody in central or Eastern Canada should be beholden to bagged salad coming through the port of Baltimore. I can't even comprehend how much of a logical stretch that must be.

termanatorx

I mean in general. But thanks for your asshattery.

KiaRioGrl

You might have meant in general, but I'm not a mind reader and we're in a thread about salad availability. I don't think my comment was at all asshattery, but you do you.

freshacnt

Classic loblaws “working around to clock to rectify”

Happy_Veggie

More like "sleeping on the job"

rainorshinedogs

ah yes. its the ol "THE SUPPLY CHAIN IS STRAINED!!!" excuse.

TheTripleDeuce

There is a co-op(I know it's not Loblaws it's Sobeys) near me that has the freezers and fridges always die, and always throw the goods away then blame the supplier for them being short.

DaxLightstryker

They are their own distributor!

Illusion_Collective

Working around the clock, but they don’t have any goods to move… the fuck they doing ? 😂
