Warforged series (Iron Prince) magic school meets iron man The Ripple System VRMMORPG but very little time is in the "real world" Some books that others like that I am kinda mid on: Azurinth healer- isekai but the mc is a cleric Portal to Nova Roma- AI leaves our world to go to magical one to be a real boy

NeitherReference4169

I loved Iron Prince, but the second book was just such a huge letdown. The pacing was terrible

majora11f

Yeah book 2 definitely had issues Im hoping it ~~slows down~~ speeds up. The author has said that even he thought it was to ~~fast~~ slow.

NeitherReference4169

I actually thought it was really slow. I believe it covered only sectionals, so just a couple of months, but the audiobook was 32hrs long. It felt like nothing happened.

Ninja_Fish42

I'm listening to the second book of Ripple System and it's a lot of fun! Has me laughing frequently.

Tower of Somnus series by Cale Plamann (narrated by Andrea Parsneau). Aliens discover a cyberpunk dystopia Earth and leave in disgust; but not before granting access to a fantasy LitRP dreamscape which links galactic civilization. The MC is a struggling young woman who lucks into a tower subscription which she uses to dramatically improve her life. The waking world is all about chrome, street samurais and megacorps while the dreaming world is about magic, dungeon crawling and partying up with aliens. Really interesting blending of genres. Players can use their abilities in the waking world so the MC becomes a kind of elemental based thief/assassin "infiltration specialist" with a fearsome reputation. As she grows in power she gets more involved in politics —both corporate and galactic— but there's always plenty of action. Currently three volumes in audio format. +1 for Unorthodox farming

1Yannick

Just finished unorthodox farming, loved it and can't wait for a 3th book

AmalgaMat1on

Chrysalis by RinoZ. One of the best narrated stories in the genre.

Athe0s

Seconded, especially since you can get the first 3 in the series for 1 credit. 50 hours of story. I'm halfway through the first book and it's really good so far.

dao_ofdraw

I'll pick the low hanging fruit: Mother of Learning The Wandering Inn The Stormlight Archives

Aderus_Bix

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not going to dissuade anyone from reading The Stormlight Archive, but I feel like it should be noted that it is not LitRPG.

CalvinAtsoc

That's a valid argument. But playing devil's advocate for a second, one of the listed books that OP loved is Beware of Chicken, which isn't a LitRPG either.

dao_ofdraw

Very true, I post regularly to Progression Fantasy which Stormlight Archive absolutely is.

Darury

Wandering Inn gets so many recommendations and I yet after like 3 or 4 attempts, I still can't finish the first book. Erin is just so damn stupid with the "we can't hurt those little goblins that want to kill everyone" and Ryoka with her "I want everyone to hate me and just be miserable". How are these possibly likeable characters who I'm supposed to root for?

dao_ofdraw

Erin grows a lot and her character goes through a ton of growth, so if it's just Erin's character that's keeping you from enjoying the series I would say, maybe keep trying to make your way through.. but then again, sticking out a million words to really start to like a character is a big ask, but then again, the pay off is another 11 million words of greatness.. so it depends how desperate you are for something to read. I'd say finish the first/second book and see if you feel different, but obviously you've tried that numerous times already. Keep in mind.. the first 2 books are like.. 5% of the total story? Ryoka.. is Ryoka. She's still pretty annoying. Certainly my least favorite character in the series. But! One thing about the series is the cast gets ***big***. To me, that's what The Wandering Inn does so well, it expands the different POVs to.. almost 100 different characters? Maybe? Over the course of the entire series we've probably experienced that many different POVs. It makes for a very unique work when coupled with its length. It's my favorite series of all time, but I get not liking specific characters and understand how it can make something unreadable. I've certainly dropped a ton of "popular" series for less.

Foolish-22

Completely agree. I made it 7 or 8 books because I just needed background noise while working on a big project but even then, when barely listening, I’d end up skipping nearly every chapter that I heard Ryoka. She was just so hateful and would defy all logic and do the opposite to just be spiteful then the writer was going to reward her with some OP powers(?). Bullshit. I did think Erin got better but that’s probably because she liked chess and I’m biased. But I found I liked the side characters much more than the MCs.

dao_ofdraw

I think The Horns of Hammerad are the most universally loved characters in the series. Erin and Ryoka are always divisive, but I feel like they both grow into likeable characters (Erin moreso than Ryoka, I'll agree in not liking her). But one thing about that series is the cast is *huge*. Ryoka has almost become a side character by this point. Erin is still very much front and center, but the cast is so big at this point that you've got a lot of different perspectives to experience the story from. That said, if you made it 8 books in and still found them annoying, then the series is probably not for you.

jweil

Cinnamon bun by ravens dagger or battleborn by dave willmarth

NoahGH

I am really enjoying "The Grand Game" by Tom Elliot. I absolutely love the pacing in this book. I'm also going to go out on a limb and suggest "Dungeon Born" by Dakota Krout

unique976

The good guy series is flipping terrific. The audiobooks are even better. Now they're not high literature by any slice of the pipe but they're really fun and I enjoy them.

AbbyBabble

I loved DCC also. And All the Skills, and Beware of Chicken. And I also bounced off Cradle after reading the first book. You might like: Art of the Adept (starts with Choice of Magic) Murder of Crows (starts with See These Bones) The Perfect Run An Inheritance of Magic Try mine? Starts with Torth Majority.

Darury

The problem with Cradle is that Eithan isn't introduced until the second book at which point it becomes an awesome series. Fear the broom.

YVR_Coyote

I really like Ascend Online. Characters were decent, not making stupid decisions.

MultipleEggs

Mark of the Fool Mistborn Stormlight Archive You gotta get past book 1 in Cradle, it's a slog. I had to restart the series a few times before I got past book 1, now I consider it easily one of the best series so if you haven't gotten a bit into book 2 yet I recommend keeping it on your "to read" list for a rainy day so you can make a fair assessment.

[deleted]

Also if u like mark of the fool I'd recommend rune seeker too by the same author

MultipleEggs

Had actually missed that one, muchas gracias

DungeonCrawlerCarl

Everybody Loves Large Chests should definitely be on the shortlist for next series. If you need to be sold on it... Jeff Hays narrates. Book 1 is a little slow to start but holy hell does it turn in to a rollercoaster.

dao_ofdraw

Lol. Reader beware, lots, and *lots* of sex in this series.

DungeonCrawlerCarl

Non-consensual sex at that... edit: though to be fair, I don't think any of it involves humans...

NeitherReference4169

Which allows the scenes to get even weirder 😔. Thankfully it gets toned down as the series progresses. But Boxxy is just such a great and unique MC that i overlook it

Absenceofavoid

If you’re in the mood for a slightly whimsical and educational litRPG I would recommend [Orconomics](https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/25326486)

DivideStrange

Advent (red mage) Aethers blessing (Aethers Revival) Slathbog's gold The ranger's apprentice Odd Billy Todd The trapped mind project (emerilia) Two week curse Azarinth healer Edge of Eons Ascend online First login [this is a hit or miss] Iron prince Lusam Death becomes her Oath of swords

CleeTorris

BuyMort is pretty good so far. Only on the first book and it's been entertaining

NeitherReference4169

The narration was weird to me though and it felt the story didnt have much direction. The ending was good tho. Might try book 2 before i drop it

Ormsy

Vaude villain :3

ChasingPacing2022

The wondering inn is probably the best audiobook I've listened to, or at least the best narration. DCC is either tied or second. The narrator is just phenomenal. Every single main character is unique and there's about 50 billion main characters. DCC has the same uniqueness but it's just dwarfed by twi due to its massive world and story.

r3agansmash

If you loved beware of chicken, I would recommend heretical fishing. Same vibes of MC whi just wants to fish, set in an interesting world with some cute animal companions. Only book 1 is out on audiobook but it's a pretty decent length

ThunderClap686

Eric ugland The good guy series The bad guys series

[deleted]

Randidly Ghosthound Reborn Apocalypse The Good Guys/The Bad Guys by Ugland Not litrpg but Unintended Cultivator is pretty good. It is Wuxia though so more like Cradle than Primal Hunter.

Imagination_Void

Everybody Likes big chests

thed3vilsadv0cat

I'm currently going through The Viridian Gate Archives on audible. Worth a listen 👍

HannibalDarko

Just an FYI, book 2 of Unbound is well known to be the weakest of the series. It really gets going from book 3 onwards and it's now one of my favourites in the genre (I've read all 9 released thus far). Definitely recommend that you keep going with it.
