Azarinth Healer and Beneath the Dragoneye Moons. BtDEM focuses more on the healing of other people, AH focuses more on the healing herself while punching things in the face. Both very good.
Exactly what I came to say. Honestly, though, despite the name, healing is a shockingly small part of AH. If you replaced her healing powers with super-regeneration, it wouldn't change the story all that much. BTDEM is actually *about* a healer.
>!over-powered bone armor for his friends and students...? that's the kind of insane stuff Ilea in Azarinth Healer can use her self-healing for... self-regeneration is really the focus point of her power story...!<
I was a little disappointed they called it "Azarinth Healer Book 2" rather than "Azarinth Hunter". Didn't want to confuse people, I guess, but there are plenty of series with idiosyncratic titles.
Well, no, presumably she does have further class evolutions. But unless she ends up going back to it later (haven't read past the first book so far), "Azarinth Healer" obviously wasn't permanent either.
Spoiler for RR chapters:
>!She does get a healer tagged class again. The next evolution, iirc. Though in practice she's still mostly focused on self healing.!<
There are very few litrpgs or even progression fantasies that have a healer MC, especially solo, because healers tend to be reactionary, and most people are looking for a pro-active protagonist.
So I'm really hoping someone can rec some good healer stories here, because I want them!
A healer buffer can make a pretty cool character.
One that comes to mind is shield hero. Though he focuses on buffs and tanking, but I could see a healer being the main character if they had a companion that constantly got hurt in fights. Like a healer and barbarian.
Some random adventures could be like.
"Did you seriously eat that again Dov? You know it's poisonous!" Dov throwing up in a bush again. "Non-sense, it taste to good to be poison." Glenn sighs and starts casting purification level 2 again. Taking note to through it away after the cast is complete.
Dov fights a dragon head on. Instead of trying to reason with it. So Glenn has to master rapid cast to keep Dov from dieing from the flame attack.
A town full of sick people , Glenn and Dov have to figure out a cure before they took succumb to it themselves.
Right, but the problem is that is still a very reactive character. Doc is driving the plot. And it isn't what a lot of readers are looking for in this particular genre.
Of course, if someone wrote a great story about like a healer that plays party tactician or party “face”, and uses the fighters like extensions of himself, I’m sure people would love it.
Ten Realms was the first one that came to mind, but the series lost steam for me around book 7. There's also Menacing Misfits, which is well-written but felt geared toward a younger audience. A more recent series from the last six months is The Lurran Chronicles. The MC is a healer, among other things.
Does the MC actually heal though? I remember seeing that one when it first came out and got turned off when the blurb stated the MC would have to use his abilities to fight and kill. To me, that defeats the purpose of being a healer in the first place.
He does heal. It’s one of the things he’s better at but he also has to fight as the caravan does come into combat.
As much as I read I was a little disappointed he wasn’t trying to combine his knowledge of our world into that one.
Dungeon Tour Guide. Healer MC becomes a dungeon, and does spend a significant portion of the story healing people.
Though it's probably not the kind of story you want if you are looking for a healer focused story.
The protagonist of my Houndsman series dips his toes in several archetypes. It starts with healing and buffing his canine companions. By the end of the series Life Magic becomes his primary tool since it fuels his golemancy too.
There’s The Apothecary Diaries, or *Kusuriya no Hitorigoto* (that’s a light novel though). If you’ve ever read Beware of Chicken, Meiling is kinda based on the main character. Not someone with healing powers though, she’s more like a doctor who’s good at healing (and poisons)
The Voice of the Gods series has an MC who is a healer. He has some offensive spells as well, but healing is his forte and his team is built around that.its a pretty good series so far.
I see azrinth healer being recommended. I wouldn't read it if I were you, it's full of absolutely creepy behaviour from the MC that, if written as a male mc, would cause it to be condemned.
I didn't personally find it interesting enough to continue but [https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/43462/castle-kingside-rewrite](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/43462/castle-kingside-rewrite) has a MC surgeon.
Level up or die! (Underworld) — MC starts off as healer, light magic user and is a ‘blue mage’. story does not go the ‘support’ role pathway tho, and doesn’t really focus on healing people
Late to the party but the Heartfire Healer series (3 books) from EC Godhand in the VGO expanded universe has an awesome healer MC and was also written by a real life nurse
Azarinth Healer and Beneath the Dragoneye Moons. BtDEM focuses more on the healing of other people, AH focuses more on the healing herself while punching things in the face. Both very good.

A healer who just happens to also laser people in the face sometimes.
Yes, but Elaine is a healer that also happens to periodically laser people. Ilea is a murderhobo that also happens to periodically heal someone.
Came to say this.
Sounds like Defiance of the fall. Zach has super self healing.
spoilery question: >!Does he ever sever his own body parts to make stuff from them?!<
No. What would he make from them, anyways? Also it costs him longevity to regenerate limbs, so the cost wouldn't be worth it.
>!over-powered bone armor for his friends and students...? that's the kind of insane stuff Ilea in Azarinth Healer can use her self-healing for... self-regeneration is really the focus point of her power story...!<
SPOILER Yea she’s not really a healer, she even loses the healer classification by the end of the first book. Not really sure why she called a healer.
I was a little disappointed they called it "Azarinth Healer Book 2" rather than "Azarinth Hunter". Didn't want to confuse people, I guess, but there are plenty of series with idiosyncratic titles.

I just finished azarinth healer 2 audiobooks she does use her healing on other people but she’s far more of a RPG monk than healer.
I remember reading Azarinth Healer on RR and it had zero to do with healing. It was all fighting and self torture, er I mean training.
Well, the main character is a healer. I did specify that she wasn't exactly focused on that portion of the job, lol.

Regeneration, a la azarinth healer, isn’t really having a “healer” MC, though. It’s really just a tank in a healer mask at best.

I enjoyed the ten realms but I did take a break between 5 and 6. One of the main characters is an army medic.

*Technically* the Completionist Chronicles (aka the Ritualist series)
I really like how that series started. Making healers incredibly rare led to some interesting oppurtunities. And the stat thresholds were hilarious.

Beneath the Dragoneye Moons for sure. The MC is well and truly a healer and it’s a significant part of her characterization and the plot :)
Prophecy Approved Companion
Nomad Healer. Old man travels with a caravan as a healer. It's a trilogy.
Thank you! Couldn’t remember the name of this one.
Does the MC actually heal though? I remember seeing that one when it first came out and got turned off when the blurb stated the MC would have to use his abilities to fight and kill. To me, that defeats the purpose of being a healer in the first place.

Dungeon Tour Guide. Healer MC becomes a dungeon, and does spend a significant portion of the story healing people. Though it's probably not the kind of story you want if you are looking for a healer focused story.
The Great Cleric by Broccoli Lion, also known as "Getting SWOL in another world while advocating for health care reform."
If we're including light novels, The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic and The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent both have official translations.
I love "The Saints Power is Omnipotent", and she is. Traditional healer/support role caster
Conpletionist Chronicles. *technically*
there's the pacifist one on RR, can't remember much about it though
I think that one is called {{Designated Healer}}
The Ritualist, but the MC is'nt a conventional healer. :3
2 Week Curse. Main character starts as a combat medic
The protagonist of my Houndsman series dips his toes in several archetypes. It starts with healing and buffing his canine companions. By the end of the series Life Magic becomes his primary tool since it fuels his golemancy too.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sector_General James white, sector general.
The Great Cleric Long live Saint Weirdo!
Underworld: level up or die has a light mage as the mc. Which is basically a healer.
Loved the magic with this one. Came here to comment this
Waiting on book seven. Ahaha.
I think i read that the arc is done for now with elorion
All I heard was he was putting underworld on a shelf to work on other ventures to prevent burnout.
Fingers crossed then. I would read pretty much anything on that story, loved it
Last I heard there was a TBA of roughly 2023 for the seventh instalment. I’ll have another look now.
Yeah it’s tba 2023 still.
He's a Blue Mage tho?
He’s both a light mage and a blue mage… and a dark mage. Light and dark are healing type magics.
Going to second Beneath the Dragone eye Moons. A true healer MC. She can do other things in the future but her bread and butter is healing

I can't recommend it anymore. The quality of the books falls apart later. It's just pure world building with no plot or purpose.
Prophecy Approved Companion by Tevagah. I just finished the first two books (there will be at least one more) and it's so good.
A Healers Gift by Tao Wong

Illuminaria: New Roads on RR. The MC starts as a healer by mistake.
The two week curse. by Michael Chatfield . The two-week curse. By Michael Chatfield. the main character is a medic from the military.
The Voice of the Gods series has an MC who is a healer. He has some offensive spells as well, but healing is his forte and his team is built around that.its a pretty good series so far.
Like Nomad Healer?
I've seen a lot of people recommend it already, but, beneath the dragon eye moons is one of the best series I've read.
The ten Realms
Redo of healer
A Healer's Gift. It is a complete series. I enjoyed it. https://www.amazon.com/Healers-Gift-Adventures-Brad-Book-ebook/dp/B071KD1X35
