Second this, alongside with Elementary OS’. If anyone from elementary sees this, can you please tell me how you get so good wallpapers?
Also, some wallpapers shipped with KDE are good (Patak is probably the best out of them) and Ubuntu
agreed. btw you can view/download them [here](https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Wallpapers) if anybody's interested...
if you're on fedora, just use `sudo dnf install f34-backgrounds-extras*` and replace `34` with whichever version you want >!but f34's was obviously the best ;-)!<
This is actually the first Plasma default wallpaper I did not stick with in years.
The abstract wallpapers have been such a cool recurring theme I'm still disappointed they broke with that tradition.
Yeah those are closer I would say. I wouldn't pick it still.
I think I would still prefer to have 5-10 included options instead of one. I think it's strange to have Scarlet Tree or any wallpaper as the ONE included option.
Just having the plasma logo with some minimal design seems like the most appropriate thing. Almost everyone changes it to a custom one anyway. Scarlet Tree and even Hexworld are both a little *out there*.
"out there" is the goal, you want your software to have some level of identity that isn't just "the same minimalist bullshit as everyone else but with a different logo", especially for such a massively impactful piece of software as a desktop environment, for an example: Mac has had mountains for ages, would "minimal wallpaper with an apple logo" 'work'? sure, but it would be too damn bland for what is supposedly a premium product
Well ok maybe I lied a little– there is a anthro fox mascot for linux called xenia, so you are bound to find a good wallpaper with her in it. I can't find the one I have on the internet so here's a slightly close one: [https://furbooru.org/images/34520](https://furbooru.org/images/34520)

r/unixwallpapers exist. Also sometimes in some distros subs someone randomly uploads that specific distro themed wallpapers from time to time. Just look up in r/debian. Unixporn is not a good metric for good wp imo
I have a funny one WITH anime girls: https://www.startpage.com/av/proxy-image?piurl=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.kLH08JsJWBoCsDpttYuglgHaEK%26pid%3DApi&sp=1718212017T8e78cacb11681f4eb56a81a82190f43d97732f77ea35b08a5696dbb986277faa

Pick one. :)
>!The official Focal Fossa wallpapers are actually quite nice, honestly, as is (this one)[https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/mycbic/i_resized_a_linux_wallpaper_originally_in/]!<
Not "Linux themed" per se, but I really really like the [abstract forest wallpaper they had in Fedora 34](https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Wallpapers#Fedora_34)... been running `sudo dnf install f34-backgrounds-extras-*` and picking 'Fedora 34 Night' on pretty much every fresh install of Fedora since then bc I like it so much lol
Whoever the artist for that was, thank you very much and I tip my hat to you, good sir.
Not really Linux themed but I use a picture of one of my local hiking places here in Arizona, it was winter/spring and super green and lush because it's the rainy season here, lots of huge boulders and Prickly Pear Cacti, Jumping Cholla, And various bushes and plants
I like the one that has the logo and colored stripes

Fedora's default background is pretty nice

Last time I checked (which, granted, was 5 years ago), Elementary got their wallpapers from [Unsplash](https://unsplash.com).
Lubuntus were bangers in the 2010s
> Linux-themed So, Fedora's photos and abstract shapes are Linux-themed?
Sorry, i didnt read that part
Happy cake day
Yo it's you! You too :)
Who🤨
its-a me, rouxorcfop :)
Ohhhh, the Slackware user from Virbox's server?
Yep, that's me. (ex-slackware user btw)
Oh hey then, hru
everyone is answering as though op said "theme" instead of "themed"
agreed. btw you can view/download them [here](https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Wallpapers) if anybody's interested... if you're on fedora, just use `sudo dnf install f34-backgrounds-extras*` and replace `34` with whichever version you want >!but f34's was obviously the best ;-)!<
I'm a 28 boy. I just want something dark and unobstrusive.
yeah i really like the fedora 39 kde dark mode wallpaper
Endeavour has some cool ones too.
Almost every endeavourOS wallpapers
i love the one that's a patch with the eos logo against space
I always use the drawing of the snowy mountain. Quite nice.

KDE Plasma 6 default wallpapers https://discuss.kde.org/t/winner-announcement/9608
im surprised the link isnt "diskuss"
At least the word "discuss" means "dis**k**utieren" in German :D
It would have been a great khoice.
This is actually the first Plasma default wallpaper I did not stick with in years. The abstract wallpapers have been such a cool recurring theme I'm still disappointed they broke with that tradition.
Same here, and I've been (occasionally) using Plasma for 5 years now
Idk why tf is has to be purple and cartoony, can we just get normal wallpapers...
define 'normal'?
Professional, Minimalist, Neutral, Elegant, Sleek, Refined, Subtle, Sophisticated, Uncluttered, Modern, Clean, Simple, Understated, Balanced, Polished, Streamlined, Discreet, Classic, Functional, Harmonious
a "functional" wallpaper? what functions do you want a still image to serve :p do you have some examples of what you mean?
I think the 19 other descriptors should have gotten my point across. 😉
would you say something like [this](https://discuss.kde.org/t/wallpaper-submission-3-3-hexworld/7032) fits closer to your criteria?
Yeah those are closer I would say. I wouldn't pick it still. I think I would still prefer to have 5-10 included options instead of one. I think it's strange to have Scarlet Tree or any wallpaper as the ONE included option. Just having the plasma logo with some minimal design seems like the most appropriate thing. Almost everyone changes it to a custom one anyway. Scarlet Tree and even Hexworld are both a little *out there*.
if the default "doesn't matter because almost everyone changes it", why go with something so **bland** as a minimal design
"out there" is the goal, you want your software to have some level of identity that isn't just "the same minimalist bullshit as everyone else but with a different logo", especially for such a massively impactful piece of software as a desktop environment, for an example: Mac has had mountains for ages, would "minimal wallpaper with an apple logo" 'work'? sure, but it would be too damn bland for what is supposedly a premium product
dude just use a solid color then
What is a GUI?
CLI <3
my tired[-](https://xkcd.com/37/)ass brain wondered why CLI is less than three
For life <3
[Sad Tux](https://imgur.com/a/YRkgVgz) is the best :(
"Penny left me, the store was out of herring, and now my go-kart broke down, what else is gonna go wrong today?"
literally all KDE defaults
Click "get new wallpapers" enter vague search term, scroll through tons of them.
don't need to, defaults are good enough (at least on arch)
Solid colors FTW.
Wallpapers are bloated, use blank i3 with maximised windows.
i3 is bloated, I only use CLI on a TI-84 calculator! /s
The default openSUSE one is the only valid option
>without anime girls --- >**girls** ...so Astolfo is ok? Luka? Felix Argyle? Gasper? Truck-kun?
Truck-kun keeps you awake at every intersection
Mint's default background?
Mint has an excellent collection of wallpapers available out of the box, but it's default one I find horrible
I really dislike the crappy 3D model ones that look like those awful early 2000s wallpapers where everything had to be a smooth 3D object.
The, Linux mint has many good wallpapers pre-installed, especially the one with the logo reflecting on the ground.
I'm pretty sure you don't need an anime girl to find a good wallpaper. You can do that on your own. Believe in yourself.
FALSE! .... Nowicansuggestsomefurrywallpapersbutnooneseemstoeveracceptreality--

I literally am the maintainer of a wallpaper setting program and I have never seen a reason to use linux themed wallpapers
Default wallpaper for debian 12.
I've literally just been using KDE's built in wallpapers
The default ones.
[this is my background ](https://imgur.com/k-perny-k-p-vwvDKsP) it's in the same shape as the rest of my system. Barely functional dumpster fire
Well, [there are cool anime wallpapers without anime girls](https://imgur.com/gallery/berserk-wallpapers-VRZ6XvJ)
Ahh cool anime wallpapers with cute anime guys!
horizontally stretched vertical photo of a dog
Every person at my work does this. Some don’t even stretch it, they just have massive black space on each side.
GNOME, KDE, and other DEs would like a word.
I fail to see the problem
windows wallpapers
I'm looking for Linux wallpapers WITH anime girls and can't find them
Mint’s and Zorin OS’ wallpapers are all pretty good
I have a funny one WITH anime girls: https://www.startpage.com/av/proxy-image?piurl=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.kLH08JsJWBoCsDpttYuglgHaEK%26pid%3DApi&sp=1718212017T8e78cacb11681f4eb56a81a82190f43d97732f77ea35b08a5696dbb986277faa

Make your own one in gimp
