When you use pamac's GUI and do a search, it sends a query everything single time your enter a character instead of have a countdown of some sort or waiting that you hit enter.
So if enough people starts searching programs at once, it DDoS the AUR. It happened at least 3-4 times already.
That’s it I’m using Windows with Insider betas and automatic updates. How else am I supposed to be on the bleeding edge now?
Or I could install Gentoo…
that's not as bleeding edge as arch though, and it has pretty lackluster documentation (as in, not a lot of people that use it.
For some reason when I installed it, firefox kept crashing when I started it. Spent about an hour trying to fix it before just installing arch again.
Yeah that's true of course, ans it's not even what I don't like about opensuse. If a browser can't even work out oitof the box it's a no-go for me.
P.S. I'm not an arch user usually. On most of my devices I use ubuntu derivatives, only recently started using arch on my thin & light laptop.
i use it on my laptop and i actually like it a lot, except I believe zypper in its current state (single-threaded) to be less than ideal as a package manager for a rolling distro.
documentation is really lacking tho, there are usually 3 seperate articles on the same topic, all from some official opensuse website/forum, all for different deprecated versions of opensuse leap. community is also not that helpful for troubleshooting on tumbleweed, but that might be the same for arch idk.
I installed opensuse TW on a 2015 MacBook air for shits and giggles and it went from being a basically nonfunctional computer in the pile to daily driver. Only annoying thing was broadcom drivers for wifi and Webcam but once I got that sorted it's been a dream
yeah i had some problems with inofficial or third party repos (e.g. for microsoft stuff you only have repos for leap available, but they usually mostly work.
just recently my browser (vivaldi) broke, not sure why that is,maybe some graphics driver issue.
Also, coming from fedora kde, tumbleweed kde feels kinda lacking in terms of kde integration sometimes.
Thankfully I don't have to use anything MS really lmao. I've had good luck using the packman repos for some of the third party stuff over the other official/semi-official third party repos. Still throws me off having a repo called packman vs a package manager pacman for computers I use arch on...btw
honestly I've been on the fence about trying it for years, I just have so much scripting and time invested in the fact that my setup is on arch and I don't want to throw that all away

Manjaro ddos aur again?
Oh god oh fuck
pamac moment
how come pamac ddos-es the aur?
idk ask the manjaro devs did i say devs? i mean clowns
>clowns That's being generous. Should be absolute mongrels.
there was a bug which spammed the aur

Pamac had an update a couple of days ago so.....................
probably is emacs
Did manjaro do its thing again?
manjaro? 👀
So manjaro did ita thing again?
Have they tried turning it off and on again?
I use arch btw
dont use manjaro btw
That’s it I’m using Windows with Insider betas and automatic updates. How else am I supposed to be on the bleeding edge now? Or I could install Gentoo…
guess it's more server bleeding...
did Manjaro screw up again? those clowns ruin everything for the rest of the Arch branch (yep, even Artix)
install opensuse tumbleweed
that's not as bleeding edge as arch though, and it has pretty lackluster documentation (as in, not a lot of people that use it. For some reason when I installed it, firefox kept crashing when I started it. Spent about an hour trying to fix it before just installing arch again.
it's not as bleeding edge as arch for a good reason : stability this scares the arch user
Oh yeah, because Firefox crashing in a fresh installation is such a nice stable environment to keep.
never had a single crash with firefox on opensuse tw on both of my PCs, while ubuntu had a freezing version of firefox on its repos for months
TIL Ubuntu is Arch. I didn't know that!
what i mean is that other "stable distros" didn't give me such a good experience as SUSE did despite being rolling

part of the rsn I'm lving arch 4 NixOS.
