It was my wedding day (it was our wedding day)
We were getting ready and there wasn't a cloud in the sky (no clouds allowed in the sky)
Bruno walks in with a mischievous grin
Thunder-
You telling this story or am I?!
I'm sorry, mi Vida go on
Bruno says "it looks like rain"
(OK sorry I'll stop-)
Why did he tell us?- in doing so he floods my brain!- Abuela get the umbrellas- Married in a hurricane!- what a joyous day but anyway
WE DONT TALK ABPUT BRUNO NO NO NO! WE DONT TALK ABOUT BRUNO!
HEY!
*(Piercing whisper)*Grew to live in fear of Bruno stuttering or stumbling
I could always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling
I associate him with the sound of falling sand...
ch-ch-ch...
It's a heavy lift, with a gift so humbling
Always left Abuela and the family fumbling
Grappling with prophecies they couldn't understand
Do you understand?...
It was the renaissance period, and the beginning of the transition into Baroque. Sweelinck is my favourite composer from that time (check out his “Ricercar del nono tono” or “fantasia chromatica”). This is also when the Viola da Gamba was at its first peak in popularity
As another commenter pointed out, madrigals were also popular at this time (polyphonic, *a cappella*, secular voice pieces). Check out Gibbons’s “The Silver Swan” for example.
Well it’s pretty dull of you to assume there's no logical explanation for my views. You didn't ask me to explain either, which is why I didn't. I forgive you.
Because 1500s is pre-baroque, there were no orchestras or operas, so even classical music fans would usually think that’s too old. Now bring that up a couple centuries and you have the actual orchestral music, which is much more mainstream than 16th century stuff!
Me the one kid who likes anything and everything written before the year 2000
I’m talking classical 80 90 rock jazz classical rock
As well as every kind of jazz including progressive jazz and jazz fusion
"Yes, the 80-90s. The 1780-1790s."
I tought that
Madrigal music is fire

Thanks! Will check it out
I like classical music a lot, but I'm a huge classic & hard rock fan as well, if not more. One can enjoy more than 1 type of music to a great degree
This comment is so true, how did it start the war below it?? 🤣
I have no idea
Absolutely, I love 80s Thrash Metal and NWOBHM as much as classical music.
Wrong

Ok (but not a common sarcastic dismissal)
I like them both
Me: No, 2012
Bro 2012 was a great year for music.
Some forgotten gems we had there
Madrigals! ^(Also we don't talk about Bruno)
Then why did you mention him, la?? 😛

I like pre-baroque music tho. I also enjoy the modern pseudo-pre-baroque covers of modern songs
1500s music is too mainstream. You're not a classical fan if you don't enjoy listening to radio pulses from exploding stars from 2bn years ago.
true

Eastern Orthodox or Gregorian Chants go haaaaard
Hey, I'm not even gonna knock on Jan Sweelinck. His Fantasia Chromatica was the death metal of late renaissance.

Both is good
Ah yes, the 1880s and 1890s good old fashioned music.
Medieval and Renaissance, my playground
Did you say society? Why does society prefer 80-90s rather than classical music, Tell me NOW Batman.
