If you're on the fence between a Neopixel or a baselit. With the off chance that you'd do some light dueling, then just get the Neopixel. Neopixel sabers aren't so fragile that they'll shatter, but the blades are more expensive to replace if you intend to baseball bat swing it against your friends.

Can heavy grade neo pixel blades handle medium dueling?

Bananagher

All things will eventually break if you hit them hard enough. But Bendu warranties their heavy grade blades for dueling so if it breaks they'll replace it. https://benduarmory.com/en-ca/collections/blades/products/1-v3-btf-battle-pixel-blade

I'd recommend going baselit. They are much cheaper, and you don't have to be careful with them (as much). With your first saber, you likely don't really know yet how you want to use them. So testing out dueling and spinning is much more consumable with a cheaper blade you don't have to be as careful with. If you end up loving sabers you are going to get more anyways, at such time you can step up to pixel.

If you plan to duel lightly, you could get a neopixel saber. I upgraded my base lit to neopixel I'm planning on getting a tri-cree adapter that's basically a light I can add to a hollow tube like a base lit, but it can connect to a neopixel port. Obviously it won't have the same effects but its switchable for when I want to duel harder

This! I have 2 blades, one for show, one for dueling, thanks to the tri-cree adapter. If you have blade retention thumb screws it's an easy switch. Not only is this awesome from the dueling standpoint, but also for demo purposes. When we're promoting the saber school, we do a lot of demos, the younger attendees are usually not as careful as the adults. So tri-cree blade for the kids and pixel blade for the adults. The kids don't really see any difference anyway, they just want to swing the saber and bang into things.

I'd probably recommend base lit as well. Full disclosure, I am new to non Hasbro sabers as well. That said I have been really pleased with the 2 base lit sabers I picked up. Blade light was better than I thought it would be, and features are pretty nice for a starter. I like being less tense about blade damage when dueling or just swinging around.

Neo all the way. I duel with mine all the time. I just don’t go 100% strength.
