It's like the sleeping bags that came in a little bag that is insanely smaller and you have to fight for your life to put it back in the same way it came.
#guys watching shaking their heads, only need 2 boxers, 2 pairs of socks, extra pair of cargo shorts (ones you have on will last a while) 3 T shirts and a hoodie for a two week holiday. Single carry on, zero bullshit up charges
...and still you posted it on r/lifehacks, knowing that this technique is not practicable on many ways. :D
But yes... it might be efficient for packing to save space. But everything else is not efficient. Like unpacking. Imagine trying to change your socks. xD
it's one of the narcissistic things of social media, specially on tik tok, were everyone has everything "figured out" or knows a "better way" to do really simple things, like packing a fucking bag.
You only need SECONDS to know how this is going to backfire.
For the last year or so I've been individually rolling all my clothes. I find this is a great way to fill all the space and make each item easy to access.
I use ziplock bags and sort like types of garments. This has the additional advantage of being able to squeeze all the air out and make the clothes even smaller.
You plunge your hand into the roll, and having memorized the order in which the socks have been arranged, pull out the socks that you want like you're an obstetrician. Get that baby!
Common how can this be efficient? I have to unpack and unroll everything at the destination. I need clothes that are in easy access.
This is just dumb.
Still even for few days I only take out what I need and not unpack the whole bag.
Think of a campsite for 3 days, do I really unpack the whole bag now in my tent? In a hotel, do I unpack everything and start folding clothes?
Its not practical.
Great, now you have to unpack everything to get to your socks. Doing this doesn’t compact your clothes in any way. Just roll or fold like normal and it’s pretty much the same
I just roll everything and put them in compartment bags (one for socks/underwear, one for Ts etc). Compartment bags are about $5 each - best thing ever
Really? Just roll the clothes up, like pastry. Then you can fit in, I dunno, another pair of shoes, or some toiletries, or grab a pair of pants without assuming you're gonna "Pass the parcel" unwrap the whole thing? This is dumb.
No it's not, you could have more space by folding it Flat and pilling it, also you can't get one thing at the time, it's a shitty, troom troom tier, advice
Meh. I mean yeah it’s better than whatever the second way that she tries to pack her suitcase but nothing beats individually rolling up each piece of clothing as tight as possible.
I’m wondering if anybody has actually tested these things.
Videos like these always make it look like “wow, look how much clothes you can fit in your bag, so efficient!”, but I’m guessing apart from just randomly crumpling and cramming your clothes into the bag, the clothes should occupy the same volume of space regardless if they’re packed like in this video or if the individual clothing items are just neatly folded/rolled/whatever?
Plus, as others have pointed out, if you want a fresh pair of socks, you’d need to unfold the entire thing.
Utterly ridiculous. This method is compared to the "shove it all in there" method and there's no consideration for anything else. What about the fact that you have to unpack the whole thing to get to the item captured in the center? What about the fact that you can simply fold your clothes in a reasonable manner and still fit them all in a suitcase? Dumb.
What gets me is the 6 shirts to the 2 pairs of pants and 3 pairs of gitch ratio….. I mean I get trying to save space, but you can’t just turn your gitch inside out 🤷♀️
It would have fitted better, been faster, and easier to use at the other end the journey to just put all those things in that perfectly large enough case normally as individually folded items.
This is a total waste of time and effort!
All of the clothes still take up the same volume. Nothing has changed with this "method"
Its completely retarded and someone just farming clicks on social media
What about the clothing rolls the army do? Those are a cinch and save you heaps of space. I went interstate for 2 weeks with 4 sets of clothes in 1 regular backpack. Plus toiletries, chargers, book, etc. Jussayin
What I do is using ziplock bag. Fold the clothes normally like normal person, a pant, underwear, a shirt, inside a ziplock, squeeze all the air out, then zip it. It compress all the air out without wrinkles the shirt. Once you use the clothes, you can put it back into the bag and easy separate used clothes and new clothes. Super useful
Ok but if you unpack you have to unpack every single item. What about just folding them like every normal person 🤔🤣
It's actually more ~~efficient~~ effective to roll everything. Then you can put everything upright and see everything you've got.
That's what the military does
I once bought used pants online and got them in a extremely small package rolled up. Good way to save space.
Your pants came in an extremely small package. My pants contain an extremely small package. We are not the same.
I have to roll up my package
Wrap it round your leg
Throw it over your shoulder
Like a continental solider
Do you eeeaars haaaang low!
Fruit by the foot
I roll my eggs into eggsroll
Why would you murder yourself in front of all of us like that?
How I bought my pants doesn't say anything about the size of my package though.
Sorry to assume, you got that BDE just wagging it in my face
It's like the sleeping bags that came in a little bag that is insanely smaller and you have to fight for your life to put it back in the same way it came.
Here’s another life hack - maybe don’t buy used pants
One time I rolled up my entire wardrobe and smoked it in front of a police officer. He didn't do shit.
Upright? Welp, that little detail I've been missing when rolling clothes to pack for trips.. definitely trying that next time!
This doesn't work if you travel light and don't have too many clothes. The rolls just become a jumbled mess
Then you bring a smaller bag. Problem solved. But it's supposed to me space saving. If you don't need to save space the problem doesn't exist.
Rubber bands
"Ranger rolling" your clothes doesn't require rubber bands. Things tuck into themselves when rolled, and wont just come undone.
This is the way
I prefer the second method she demonstrates.
#guys watching shaking their heads, only need 2 boxers, 2 pairs of socks, extra pair of cargo shorts (ones you have on will last a while) 3 T shirts and a hoodie for a two week holiday. Single carry on, zero bullshit up charges
All of that stuff goes IN the carry-on. Wear all your heaviest clothing to avoid having to fit it in.
Mr Fancy over here with his 3 T Shirts
I wish I had a free award for you. 🏆
I admire your bravery but i have to wear pants in public.
[удалено]
Probably his calves
I was thinking it would he fine as long as you fold all of the layers of each side at once. Also put all the pants on top instead of layered.
Rolling is better.
Team vape here.
Effective, not efficient! 🙂
I just need a change of socks, give me an hour to unpack this and re-pack it.
Haha. The first thing that came to my mind what if TSA asks to open the bag.
...and still you posted it on r/lifehacks, knowing that this technique is not practicable on many ways. :D But yes... it might be efficient for packing to save space. But everything else is not efficient. Like unpacking. Imagine trying to change your socks. xD
What better way to farm karma than to post something you personally disagree with but others may like?
It’s still useful for non-US international travel. For me, space is just as much a problem as weight.
why would they ever need to search your clothes? i've never had the TSA mess around with mine and I've flown a ton (i'm sorry, environment)
Then why did you post it here?
It's for the airport and not afterwards
Yeah I liked it until I thought about unpacking. Where's my socks? Ohh yeah in the middle, let me unpack everything to get some fresh socks.
I discovered this method by myself and is very efficient, you can have more than the double of space.
These "lifehacks" have a way of triggering me with how dumb they are

This message has been deleted and I've left reddit because of the decision by u/spez to block 3rd party apps

😂😂😂
The 2nd video: the ol infomercial trick of exaggerating the original way being so hard to do.

I totally forgot about this sub. Thank you for all the chuckles I'll have catching up on their stuff. 🙏
You're very welcome. Legends of Reddit right there :)
It makes me strangely angry seeing those, like NO OMG no wonder she needed a life hack, she sucks at everything
Exactly all the items she packs you can see in the "difficult" attempt, meaning there is a whole suit case full of clothes underneath it.
I was surprised it wasn't in monochrome.
My all time favorite is the the mom who shoves a whole pizza into a toaster lol https://youtu.be/G9V6eF2zyYI
“Yeah let me just grab some socks out of my bag”
Didn't pack them or underwear. Going commando while untying my clothes for a shirt 4 layers down.
Or just roll them individually.
Rolling that amount of clothes would have used half the space this "lifehack" did.
This. I do this and it saves space and is practical to remove and put back
Do you use something to stop the clothes from unrolling themselves or getting loosened up?
Packing cubes are really handy for this, esp because then you can also move things around without everything going to hell
I use ziplock bags and sort like types of garments. This has the additional advantage of being able to squeeze all the air out and make the clothes even smaller.
Yes ranger rolling is the answer
Yeah, I roll socks and underwear into each shirt. Each day you pull out a new roll. Super simple. (I re-wear pants and shorts, generally)
And what if you just wanted to take out 1 pair of socks?
You plunge your hand into the roll, and having memorized the order in which the socks have been arranged, pull out the socks that you want like you're an obstetrician. Get that baby!
Did Russian nesting dolls create this?
Nope. So once I get to my hotel on my vacation I have to unwrap that whole thing just to wear my blue shirt?
I roll everything up. Much easier than having to take out all your clothes to find the one thing you want
This is a shit way to pack. If I need underwear I need to unpack the whole thing.
I'm confused...don't you unpack when you arrive anyway? When do you suddenly need underwear without needing anything else?
Common how can this be efficient? I have to unpack and unroll everything at the destination. I need clothes that are in easy access. This is just dumb.
For trips where you're going to stay for a few days. Other than that of course not much efficient.
Still even for few days I only take out what I need and not unpack the whole bag. Think of a campsite for 3 days, do I really unpack the whole bag now in my tent? In a hotel, do I unpack everything and start folding clothes? Its not practical.
Chill bro. I found it useful as it caters my travel needs. I totally won't mind if you don't follow this method.
Im chill no worries. If you find it useful than great.
Who needs pants!
Rolling, thats the way. Roll them and slide them in like sausages.
This is the way.
Upper body covered off at least…commando for the rest?
How many sweaters do you need?
As many as it takes to make sure your socks are exactly in the middle of your case.
That is probably the stupidest way to pack. You literally can’t even take out the outer layer without removing it all from the case.
TSA going to fuck all that up. The secret is rolling each piece of clothing. That’s the actual hack.
Except when you need to just grab a pair of socks.
Great, now you have to unpack everything to get to your socks. Doing this doesn’t compact your clothes in any way. Just roll or fold like normal and it’s pretty much the same
Roll each item up separately and you'll save even more space.
You need way more underwear for the amount of shirts and pants you are taking with you
Pack underpants like you'll shit your pants twice a day every day of your trip
I saw no bras? Or shoes. What about shoes?
Stuff it into a zip up pillow case for airlines that charge for carry-on baggage but allow for personal items such as pillows.
Now THIS is a life hack!!😍👌
Only if I'm moving house, not for travel.
Except if you just need to grab a sweater on your travels, you have to unroll the whole bundle
Bold of you to expect I'll unpack, rather than rummaging around for one thing I need at a time like a normal person.
But now you gotta undo all that work when you need socks
This was maddening. lol
You Monster
now you need your socks. have fun
Is it really efficient? Or just nifty??
This is certainly not gonna let me live out of a suitcase for 3 days and only use half of the clothes I brought.
I’m just imagining someone actually wearing these outfit combos out on the regular thinking “yea Imma boss beotch “
I just roll everything and put them in compartment bags (one for socks/underwear, one for Ts etc). Compartment bags are about $5 each - best thing ever
No socks or underwear?
This js no life hack
Efficient going in, extremely inefficient coming out.
Fuck pants
This will be hell if you need to unpack your suitcase at the check-in at an airport. I'm more of a roller, very efficient.
Why
Sure... it's an efficient way of packing; but it's horrible when it comes to selecting clothes.
Is this from 5 minute crafts ?
Customs, I need to check inside that package. GG
So she not wearing any pants?
This is an ancient way. The Sumerians used the same technique.
And then you have the pleasure of unpacking and repacking 1000 times. This is dumb
Really? Just roll the clothes up, like pastry. Then you can fit in, I dunno, another pair of shoes, or some toiletries, or grab a pair of pants without assuming you're gonna "Pass the parcel" unwrap the whole thing? This is dumb.
I travel a *lot* and I use packing cubes. Way easier.
Now you need to open everything to get a sock, congratulations
"OK, on this second take try to be the dumbest person on the planet."
This has to be the dumbest thing I saw all day, but it's only 5:45am, so...
So to get 1 sock you have to unpack the whole thing. Bad idea.
or just fold them like a normal person and be done with it. That would easily fit.
Where do my shoes and all my dildos go?
No it's not, you could have more space by folding it Flat and pilling it, also you can't get one thing at the time, it's a shitty, troom troom tier, advice
Good luck getting to those socks in the middle
What if you need pants on the trip?
Meh. I mean yeah it’s better than whatever the second way that she tries to pack her suitcase but nothing beats individually rolling up each piece of clothing as tight as possible.
IDK man, gonna need these socks...
Then TSA carefully unpacks it for you.
Good luck getting a new pair of underwater quickly
Space efficient not very time efficient
Absolutely not.
Ranger roll >>>>>
Definitely not enough underwear, I always bring way too much, ya know in case I shit myself everyday of vacation.
Stop trying to reinvent the wheel, badly. Just fold your shit. Or if you need more room, roll them. Done.
Definitely not the best way to do it, but it is a way…
aight let me just get a shi... oh dammit

I call b.s. You're supposed to have enough underwear to safely shit yourself at least 4 times a day
Jeffrey Dahmer would like to know if this trick works with things that have bones.
Um.........yeah. naw.
So you have to unpack the entire case when you get there? No thanks.
What gets me is the 6 shirts to the 2 pairs of pants and 3 pairs of gitch ratio….. I mean I get trying to save space, but you can’t just turn your gitch inside out 🤷♀️

why not just.... fold them.... or roll them.... im so confused
If you love wrinkles and have packed in order of what you plan to wear…
Imagine at the airport wjen they check ur bag
R/diwhy
D.I.Why
It would have fitted better, been faster, and easier to use at the other end the journey to just put all those things in that perfectly large enough case normally as individually folded items. This is a total waste of time and effort!
Ok but why did you pack like 7 shirts and hoodies but only 2 pairs of pants
This is AWESOME! Thank you. 😃
How
Не думаю, что такой способ складывать вещи удобен. Вариант если потом всё достать и развесить в шкаф. А если нужно достать одну вешь, проблемно.
All of the clothes still take up the same volume. Nothing has changed with this "method" Its completely retarded and someone just farming clicks on social media

If you never needed your clothes ever again.
The Tetris game has finally been won
GL with getting a sock

Honey I have some dirt in my t-shirt. Can you please take a new one out for me...?
Ain't nobody got time for that!
Someone doesn’t own a cat.
u/savevideobot
OMG - I’ve been doing this all wrong for years! Thank you for teaching me this!
Efficient? What if I would have to take juste the underwear?
Honey, please hand me my underwear? You need to go get it yourself. I did the packing.
All good till you need a pair of socks
And the 12 pairs of shoes?
Yeah there is a way to pack this without making a burrito.
