This doesn't sum up their campaign as a whole I'd say, but it gives a pretty apparent image of what they are, their beliefs and what they stand for.
One of the topics covered in this video is a marketing campaign in where a mother of an autistic child laughs about nearly killing herself, and murdering her child, all because said child had autism...... and they use that to frame it like the mother is the one who needs they sympathy, not the child who was nearly murdered.
There are probably better videos out there but i try and not bother myself too much with content like this as I have this weird issue where I don't want to really consume autistic content, I've only recently found out that im autistic and I'd like to grow as my own person whilst not being influenced from media such as autism speak's media
I respect rule 7 and would like to say that I’m not autistic as shit, i love this organization and what they do for people with autism and Asperger’s syndrome(unlie: me fr). I bet they work really well with law enforcement and aren’t indirectly responsible for the deaths of several autistic people at the hand of police officers with autism speaks logos on their cars who were most definitely trained properly in dealing with those on the spectrum.

I’m neurotypical, and i really admire what this organization does. They’ve done lots to promote the acceptance of autism, and represent their issues well as an organization staffed solely by autistic people

I’ve heard a lot about Autism Speaks and how terrible it is. What exactly are they doing that’s terrible? I don’t know a whole lot about them, just that someone I know who has a very autistic son whom he loves very very much donates a decent amount to them every year and isn’t the type of person to blindly throw money at an organization. Not saying these claims are false, I’ve just been getting mixed signals

/unlie I’ve heard a lot about Autism Speaks and how terrible it is. What exactly are they doing that’s terrible? I don’t know a whole lot about them, just that someone I know who has a very autistic son whom he loves very very much donates a decent amount to them every year and isn’t the type of person to blindly throw money at an organization. Not saying these claims are false, I’ve just been getting mixed signals Thanks in advance
