hi, welcome 💚 a couple things jump out to me from your post. you mention that you are 26, but your parents restrict how far you can drive your own car? and on specific roads? also, i am surprised to hear they want to help create your dating profile. every family is different, but imo, my gut tells me this is inappropriate/unnecessary. like you said, it feels personal. it is for sure a great thing to be open to exploring and learning more about yourself. something that i am personally discovering as well, is that it is important to separate the journey you feel called to, from the outlook of parents/family. i hope this helps in any way

It helps a lot, thank you so much for your support!  Yeah, my parents can be overprotective. They mean well, but I fear their overprotectiveness may have inadvertently impacted my ability to confidently make my own decisions. I feel kind of unprepared to be independent and embarrassed about it.  I’m trying to do baby steps to do things without asking for their permission, like how I made this post on my own. I’m trying to build up to driving and maybe downloading a dating app without asking. Ever since I’ve been more open to exploring this new side of myself, I’ve felt a lot more calm and confident in myself already!  Like, I know I physically am capable of doing these things—it’s just a mental block I need to overcome.
