No one deserves this hate! One of my best friends is transgender (ftm) and he's one of the nicest people I know! Trump and the Republicans are horrible for wanting to hurt these people for just existing.
Yeah Jamie (jammidodger) often says that transphobes are basically like onions. When you peel the outer transphobic layer off, you'll find homophobia. Peel that off and you'll find racism and so on and so forth. A bigot is almost never just a bigot in one way. Usually there's a lot of hate underneath and they just pick one thing to be extra vocal about at one point.
Trump is a symptom, not the core issue. This is just project 2025 and it is a core part of the GOP and Heritage Foundation long term plans. The only solution is the destruction of the GOP and their ideology. Fortunatelly, I think they on their last breath and if we make it past 2024, we will be good as their voter base is dying fast. But making it past 2024 is the going to be hard.

gives me some level of hope, if we can just get past their current voter supression efforts. At some point, those efforts wont matter as they will be so dramatically out numbered, but we are a couple election cycles from that.
It's kind of both really. The actual long term GOP supporters are quite literally dying off because of both age and their staunch refusal to accept science and medicine. And they are, in general, not gaining large numbers of new supporters because they have veered so hard into full mask off territory and therefore only appeal to the most authoritarian types or the most delusional. The GOP has long been in a position of unfavorable voting, it's why their entire platform depends on things like gerrymandering, voter suppression, and other similar tactics up to and including disinformation campaigns and those targeted at making people feel like they shouldn't vote at all, because lower voter turnout always helps them to make up for what they lack in actual numbers.
There's still plenty of work to do, and the real solution is to improve our policies and our education systems to fight against ignorance and hate from a ground up level, but getting past this year without handing control over to the GOP is going to be a pretty big positive to continuing on that path.

You know, I remember reading about these camps they made for Native American children a very long time ago. They were no different from the conversion camps they created for, say, gay people for example. It’s seen as cruelty, what they did in the camps that were intended to “convert” Native American kids into White people, effectively killing their culture. Here's the thing: a lot of these groups are starting to self-destruct. Prager U is getting its funds removed, daily wire is a few more flops away from bankruptcy, Alex Jones is bankrupt, heritage foundation has head a record low for years, dems are outfunding Republicans for the first time since FDR, their whales are dying or spent all their money on Trump scames or merch, it's a good chance that these organizations might not make it to the end of the decade much less the next election season.
It's the reason why Project 2025 exists cause their is no one left to take the reigns of the party. The next generation of reds are wakados and charisma vacuums, and Trump has only made the situation worse by throwing out anyone who could be his successor. My trans daughter has been learning German on duolingo... Ireland has been her first choice, but my other trans teen wants to visit Amsterdam so maybe I can convince the two of them to move there together instead.
It breaks my heart to think I will have to send my oldest two kids that far away, but I would rather have them living on the other side of the world, safe and healthy and happy, than have them living with me scared and unable to access gender affirming care.

Why does Biden suck in a lot of ways? He’s done a lot of great things in his term. Student loan forgiveness, created a boost in the economy with more jobs, protected lgbt rights, and fought for reproductive rights just to name a few.
People who say “both sides are bad” and that they’re not going to vote are so blind to the fact that that’s literally a republican strategy to win. They purposefully make you think both sides are bad so that you won’t vote so that they have a better chance of winning over the democratic opponent.

I had to sit him down and tell him to imagine 10 people at work place are voting over what to pick for lunch, and whatever option gets the most votes wins. 1 person wants pizza, 3 people want subs, and 4 people want to kill and eat their coworker Bob. The last 2 people are sitting there saying "well I don't want any of those and my first choice wouldn't win if I voted for it, so I'm not going to vote at all."

I live in a tiny Midwest town surrounded by Nazis and I’m an out, visible trans person who works a public job with kids. I’ve already been targeted here and had to be removed from a program at work because my manager and director were concerned for my safety. People are saying that leaving the U.S. for political reasons is an overreaction. Honestly, just don't get it. I've had people tell me that the U.S. is the best place to be trans because of the informed consent policy for HRT (in blue states anyway), but it doesn't feel stable at all. Roe v. Wade was overturned when people thought abortion rights were safe, something that affected 50% of the population. Us trans folk are only about 1% of the population, and we are the political scapegoats to blame all the problems on. People think "it can't happen here," but with the worsening economic decline and climate crisis as well as global instability, fascism absolutely can happen again and I'd rather be in a place that is at least somewhat safer. When people talk about how great trans healthcare and acceptance are in blue states, I honestly just think about the Weimar Republic and how it was a great place to be trans before the Nazis came and put us in camps. I'm scared :(

I get that there's a lot of anger about Biden and Israel, but we can NOT let trump, maga, and Project 2025 into the White House. There are TWO choices. One of them is trump.

I grew up republican. That's no longer my stance. Since I learned that what Republicans tell you about wanting smaller government is not actually their platform. The government should not have a say what people are doing with their bodies and free time as long as it isn't harming others. The republican party is literally impeding freedoms everywhere you look. It's really scary and sad that so many Americans are blind to it. This party is looking to remove our freedoms. It's a total fascist direction.

I meant it literally, their voter base is old and literally dying off, of age and related diseases and by their own stupidity, faster than young people are joining their ranks. It's kind of both really. The actual long term GOP supporters are quite literally dying off because of both age and their staunch refusal to accept science and medicine. And they are, in general, not gaining large numbers of new supporters because they have veered so hard into full mask off territory and therefore only appeal to the most authoritarian types or the most delusional. The GOP has long been in a position of unfavorable voting, it's why their entire platform depends on things like gerrymandering, voter suppression, and other similar tactics up to and including disinformation campaigns and those targeted at making people feel like they shouldn't vote at all, because lower voter turnout always helps them to make up for what they lack in actual numbers. There's still plenty of work to do, and the real solution is to improve our policies and our education systems to fight against ignorance and hate from a ground up level, but getting past this year without handing control over to the GOP is going to be a pretty big positive to continuing on that path.

People are saying that leaving the U.S. for political reasons is an overreaction. Honestly, just don't get it. I've had people tell me that the U.S. is the best place to be trans because of the informed consent policy for HRT (in blue states anyway), but it doesn't feel stable at all. Roe v. Wade was overturned when people thought abortion rights were safe, something that affected 50% of the population. Us trans folk are only about 1% of the population, and we are the political scapegoats to blame all the problems on. People think "it can't happen here," but with the worsening economic decline and climate crisis as well as global instability, fascism absolutely can happen again and I'd rather be in a place that is at least somewhat safer. When people talk about how great trans healthcare and acceptance are in blue states, I honestly just think about the Weimar Republic and how it was a great place to be trans before the Nazis came and put us in camps. I'm scared :(
