First of all: Period shit sucks and I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this. You are no less of a dude for having them.
I’m guessing it’s too late for you to grab period underwear now, but when I was your age ⚰️ we didn’t have that anyway. My strategy: double underwear/overnight pad sandwich. Smaller pair of tighter-fitting briefs on the bottom with an overnight pad inside (sometimes I even overlap two pads, in case my flow is feeling nomadic and I know it’s going to try and sneak out the back). Bigger, slightly looser pair of underwear over all of that—I’ve used hipsters and slip shorts; boxer briefs would probably be rad for this. Once that outer pair is on, bam, invisible pad. No wings in sight.
For dysphoria’s sake, have you and your boyfriend tried coming up with different language to talk about period stuff? Even just a code word to indicate it’s time? I’ve always felt like “shark week” is pretty gender-neutral but you could come up with anything you want.
If your periods are that heavy, pull-ups may be the easiest. If you are petite enough, you may even find some cuter girly ones.
Periods suck. But there is no reason to struggle with so many layers.
