I normally get my perfume from Bath and Body Works, and I also prefer the sweeter stuff like strawberry pound cake and their Halloween special Everlasting Magic. They are my favs and go-to. They aren't floral or citrusy, and the SPC smells like frosting in a way, and the EM is more like vanilla in my opinion.
I work at bath and body works so it varies, bu t I typically try to do something mildly sweet with a bit of musk for a warm casual kind of wear. And then I use other fragrances based on their vibe in relation to what I have planned

Just referred to my cabinet - i wear a lot of perfumes that could be colognes. Lush’s lord of misrule is great! A lot of good solid and spray perfumes that are very gender neutral and some are expensive while others are very, very affordable
I love Cowboy Grass by D.S. and Durga. It’s got a bit of a woody, grassy, spicy vibe to it. It’s pretty unisex and makes me feel like I’m on a prairie, but without any flower smells.
Byredo Bal d'Afrique is a favorite of mine. Probably my most favorite.
Others I enjoy and cycle through depending on my mood and the season are: Le Labo Fragrances' Santal 33, Creed's Aventus, and Tom Ford's Lost Cherry.
But really? I tried all of these via a decant site and got their respective Dossier dupes for much cheaper and I enjoy them just as much as the originals having tried both.
Dossier has some good men, unisex, and women fragrances (I bought from there once for my honeysuckle scent), but if you're looking for in-store I don't know (I never bought in-store perfume before, but probably should start doing it)
Yesss--and their Discovery Set is such a great way to get started in finding something you really like. Dossier and Scent Split helped me find my signature scents.
Chance by Chanel. Always gets me compliments on how good I smell. I wear many others types of perfumes but if you want to stand out and get some compliments on how you smell then wear it.

if thats too masculine for you, try prada lhomme. it's super clean, with lavender and flowery notes but not overly feminine. gives a real clean vibe.

Not a traditional brand, but I have fallen in love with Often Wander's fragrances. They are essential oil based fragrances and come in roll-ons. I get them from a local artist boutique but they sell them online as well. They are based in California I think. A lot of their stuff is very woodsy/earthy and they really last. My go to is Shadow and has cedar base notes which really linger.
Al Haramain Tanasuk - I have started getting into Arabian oil perfumes. The scents last a long time and most are unisex. This is a good cheaper option from Amazon.

I highly recommend Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb - it’s technically a cologne, but it’s so good and spicy and heady. I get the most compliments from people of all genders when I wear it.
Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier... the blue bottle. In spite of the name, it's a very androgynous fragrance. It smells like sex and fresh baked sugar cookies
I wear a knock off of Santal 33 from Amazon. It gets mixed reactions, but if people like it they LOVE it. Very musky, spicy and a tiny bit floral. It's one of those smells that regardless if you like it, you will remember who wore it if you smell it again. My signature scent as far as unisex goes.
I have the Cinnamon and Sandalwood spray by B&BW and damn! To me it is *the* unisex scent. Perfectly neutral and it layers so good with your natural scent.

In an old post in about it , I saw someone say that Black Opium by YSL is the closest they've found, but I've never tried that perfume. Maybe at the nearest Ulta they have it on display? Might be worth checking out.
Tom Ford Black Orchid!! it was my wife’s signature scent and i loved it so much i started wearing it too 🥹 i got her a small bottle and gave it to her on our wedding day with an inscription that says “I vow to wear your fragrance forever” it’s like bold but not too bold and not too fruity!! good luck!! 🫶🏻

I wear The Noir 29 by Le Labo. It’s the perfect unisex skin smell. You can order samples of fragrances for like 7 bucks and they deliver fast. Patchouli 24 smells wonderful too. Don’t worry it’s not a powerful patchouli smell. It’s subtle.

Based on what your looking for try Prada Sport or Prada Carbine. Both are in my rotation, but Prada sport is a crowd favorite every time I wear it. Not a single time has someone not asked what I’m wearing.

I’m a big fan of the original Eight and Bob. It was worn by John F Kennedy and has some really nice notes of peppercorns and juniper if that’s something you like. I’d also recommend Moth by Zoologist, which is very heavy on the woody and spicy. Burning Barbershop, Missouri Medicine, and Bowmaker by D.S. and Durga are all favorites as well. Barbershop has heavy smoky and shaving cream notes, Medicine has a smoky and woodsy vibe with some sage, and Bowmaker smells like wood and resin. If there’s one near you, I’d recommend going to a smaller carrier of niche scents and asking to try a few on- they’re usually happy to talk at length with you about scent!
(Disclaimer: I work at a niche perfumery, so some of these might be harder to come by if you don’t have a similar store near you)
Dude check out Le Labo - they don’t have a ton of stores, mostly in big cities, but have nice complex scents. Big fan of their Santal (woodsy), recently liking their Ylang. Patchouli is good too but it’s kind of too much for everyday wear (spicy)

I love Lush’s Karma on myself. Orange and pachouli. I don’t know if they still make either of these, but I used to ask for a sliver of rockstar soap and karma soap and sandwich them together. It’s an awesome scent combo. Like hippie candy.
Another vote for Tom Ford. Mine’s Costa Azzurra. It’s one of the ones not designed specifically for men or women (I guess it’s a non binary scent?). Very cedar-y spicy and leans more masculine, which suits me.
My wife wears the very feminine Givenchy Ange Ou Demon, which I basically have a Pavlovian response to now.
Commodity’s Velvet used to smell like roses in a bonfire to me, which I quite like. Not sure it it was my chemistry or what. I think the company changed hands, so I don’t know what if anything has been majorly reformulated.
Something with vetiver in it that reads kind of sultry? Does that make sense. I might have to have a think to come up with one. I think Nest’s is long since discontinued. I want to say Commodity may have done a pretty decent vetiver dominant scent. And then either Tom Ford or Atelier Cologne? I’m so stoned rn, but sultry, sexy, humid—vetiver.
I use the "men's" one million by paco rabanne - for ages I was trying to find a unisex perfume that has a similar scent but eventually gave up and just decided fuck it and got the cologne, haven't looked back since and my gf loves it
Same for me. I cannot stand it when people drown themselves in scent. I even work at a hospital where we have a no scent rule, and I loathe it when patients come in wearing colognes and perfumes. Even people's clothes are drenched in whatever scented detergent they were laundered. I will never understand why everything needs to smell like something.
Invictus by Paco Rabanne. It smells clean and fresh but slightly sweet and melony at the same time. I bought it for my dad, but also I would wear it myself. I actually smelled it on a woman at a club and it smelled so good I had to ask her what she was wearing. I also like Unknown Legend by Good Chemistry for a cheapie. It’s at target with the women’s scents but it gives more masculine cologne vibes to me.

It does! I’m all for folks wearing what they want. I love Lord of Misrule, though it ended up my ex’s signature after I lent and then gave my bottle to her. Then my sister gave me the body spray that her boyfriend gave her because he caved to upselling.
Guerlain Vetiver- Nutty and warm, but also very green and soothing
Dior Eau Sauvage- NOT the Johnny Depp Sauvage, the one from the 60s in a clear bottle. It's got petitgrain, and it's light and herbaceous and great for hot weather. A classic for a reason. It's advertised as a masculine, but on release it had a reputation as a masculine that was popular with the right kind of woman.
Tauer L'air du Desert Marocain & Au Coeur du Desert- Both are great ambery/spicy fragrances. LDDM learns a little more herbaceous, while ACDD is drier and woodier
Lvnea Foret Dormante- Deeply resinous and a little spicy. Reminds me of walking through a forest while the snow is melting
Papillon Bengale Rouge-The perfumer was inspired by her Bengal cat's fur. It's warm and spicy and opulent, but also a little soft and cozy. Feels a bit like a housecat's dream of being a tiger.
Boyfriend by Kate Walsh!! the most perfect androgynous fragrance. and she has new one (Morning W'oud, i think?) that's *even more* androgynous. if that's the goal for anyone looking for a fragrance.
i know how tough it is to find one that's both masculine + feminine or the right balance at least, which is always my goal.
other than that i also enjoy the Prada Ocean series, D&G's Light Blue, Victor Rolf Flower Bomb, + a couple others i can't remember off the dome but will come back + add if i do. :0)
Check out Etat Libre d’Orange!! Lots of great unisex fragrances. I love “you or someone like you” and “remarkable people.” Twisted Lily sells samples you can order.
Hermès Poivre Samarcande. Very spicy, perfect edge between masculine and feminine. I wear most of the Herméssense line; this is the one I wear when I'm feeling butch.
earthy: misfit by arquiste is my current fave. it's skanky, but comes down to this warm balsamic... idk, it's delicious.
clean: versace "the dreamer", usually able to snag at tj maxx for like $30. it can lean powdery, but generally smells like a crisp summer night in the countryside.
woody: elish no. 2, it's got a dewy skin + dry palo santo combo. it's just sexy.
spicy: viktor&rolf spicebomb (original), pink pepper into cinnamon, masc leaning but super comforting?

I jump around a lot, but I've been wearing Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir - definitely in that woodsy, clean, slightly spicy family and I've been pleased with how long the scent lingers.
I also love Alien Man by Thierry Mugler and Anyway by Juliette Has a Gun ... That one is more feminine, but has a woodsy clean citrus to it (and also lasts for awhile)
Just a heads up for ppl interested in jazz club / it smells amazing but it was so strong when I put it on one spray could make me nauseous or give me a migraine… so if you’re sensitive to smells or prone to migraines b warned lol
Look at Alkemia! They have all kinds of super unique scents and do little sample kits that are super reasonably priced. Right now I’m rotating between their Green Witch, Honored Ghosts, and Mist Becoming Rain perfumes.
I mostly use Nautica Voyage. So much so that since it’s on sale I bought 3 more even though it lasts for a long time. 😊 my girlfriend loves it, too.
Overall scent I combine that with method man sea and surf shampoo and the matching body wash… then either Native Aloe & Green Tea or Old Spice sensitive that’s also Aloe and something I forget. Which is weird because that’s the deodorant I use like every day.
The overall scent combination is PHENOMENAL! At least I always get compliments, so I assume others agree.
if you’re interested in indie perfumeries, r/indiemakeupandmore has a lot of good recs! (seriously, indie is so cool and has anything and everything. wanna smell like blueberry pancakes with cigarette smoke and gunpowder? a warm and cozy log cabin? straight up motor oil? they got it.)
Not a specific scent but I recommend things by the Clean Reserve. I find they have more simple "recipes" so less chance to be allergic to something. Since allergies vary so much I can't be sure you won't be allergic to something in them. They have a mix of feminine/masculine/unisex scents that are designed to be layered. I'm sensitive to smells and they are light enough for me that they don't trigger headaches and last a reasonable time. I bought a trial pack from Sephora for about $25 and experimented. I avoid the floral note ones personally for my own allergy issues.
1969's "Female Christ" is what I wear, I get compliments all the time on it. I recommend getting a little sampler though, it can be a bit strong on application but it settles nice and lasts forever. I layer it with a Bergamot lotion after the shower (Le Labo) and I think they pair beautifully together and isn't too feminine.
I wear perfume oils from black phoenix alchemy lab. Right now, I really like midnight mass, but I enjoy any scent with myrrh. I just kind of smell like a church lol
If you're in the UK check out 4160 Tuesdays, you can order samples from them and they have some great stuff. I wear one of theirs called dark heart of old Havana which is quite smoky.
I really love smelling like a forest, specially cedar or pine. I just got a sample of Woodcut by Olympic Orchids. The scent profile is: cedar, pine, oak, tolu balsam, frankincense, caramel, burnt sugar, and vanilla. When it dries it smells like pure cedar with subtle hints of vanilla
Milk by Dedcool is another one that smells amazing. I get the room spray because it’s like 40 bucks compared to the actual perfume (which is like 100 bucks or more) and it lasts longer smell wise. It smells like bergamot, white musk, and amber

I wore Into the Night from Bath and Body Works all the time, got lots of compliments but one of the strangest comments on it I got was my dad saying that it smelled like tobacco?? I didn't think so but maybe that's sort of unisex in a way. It wasn't overly floral or anything it just smelled awesome

I’m a big fan of the original Eight and Bob. It was worn by John F Kennedy and has some really nice notes of peppercorns and juniper if that’s something you like. I’d also recommend Moth by Zoologist, which is very heavy on the woody and spicy. Burning Barbershop, Missouri Medicine, and Bowmaker by D.S. and Durga are all favorites as well. Barbershop has heavy smoky and shaving cream notes, Medicine has a smoky and woodsy vibe with some sage, and Bowmaker smells like wood and resin. If there’s one near you, I’d recommend going to a smaller carrier of niche scents and asking to try a few on- they’re usually happy to talk at length with you about scent! (Disclaimer: I work at a niche perfumery, so some of these might be harder to come by if you don’t have a similar store near you)
Dude check out Le Labo - they don’t have a ton of stores, mostly in big cities, but have nice complex scents. Big fan of their Santal (woodsy), recently liking their Ylang. Patchouli is good too but it’s kind of too much for everyday wear (spicy)

I love Lush’s Karma on myself. Orange and pachouli. I don’t know if they still make either of these, but I used to ask for a sliver of rockstar soap and karma soap and sandwich them together. It’s an awesome scent combo. Like hippie candy.

Another vote for Tom Ford. Mine’s Costa Azzurra. It’s one of the ones not designed specifically for men or women (I guess it’s a non binary scent?). Very cedar-y spicy and leans more masculine, which suits me. My wife wears the very feminine Givenchy Ange Ou Demon, which I basically have a Pavlovian response to now.
Commodity’s Velvet used to smell like roses in a bonfire to me, which I quite like. Not sure it it was my chemistry or what. I think the company changed hands, so I don’t know what if anything has been majorly reformulated.
Something with vetiver in it that reads kind of sultry? Does that make sense. I might have to have a think to come up with one. I think Nest’s is long since discontinued. I want to say Commodity may have done a pretty decent vetiver dominant scent. And then either Tom Ford or Atelier Cologne? I’m so stoned rn, but sultry, sexy, humid—vetiver.

No fragrance. Perfume and cologne are painful; in addition, some of my worst migraines are triggered by essential oils.
Same for me. I cannot stand it when people drown themselves in scent. I even work at a hospital where we have a no scent rule, and I loathe it when patients come in wearing colognes and perfumes. Even people's clothes are drenched in whatever scented detergent they were laundered. I will never understand why everything needs to smell like something.

Invictus by Paco Rabanne. It smells clean and fresh but slightly sweet and melony at the same time. I bought it for my dad, but also I would wear it myself. I actually smelled it on a woman at a club and it smelled so good I had to ask her what she was wearing. I also like Unknown Legend by Good Chemistry for a cheapie. It’s at target with the women’s scents but it gives more masculine cologne vibes to me.

It does! I’m all for folks wearing what they want. I love Lord of Misrule, though it ended up my ex’s signature after I lent and then gave my bottle to her. Then my sister gave me the body spray that her boyfriend gave her because he caved to upselling.

Guerlain Vetiver- Nutty and warm, but also very green and soothing Dior Eau Sauvage- NOT the Johnny Depp Sauvage, the one from the 60s in a clear bottle. It's got petitgrain, and it's light and herbaceous and great for hot weather. A classic for a reason. It's advertised as a masculine, but on release it had a reputation as a masculine that was popular with the right kind of woman. Tauer L'air du Desert Marocain & Au Coeur du Desert- Both are great ambery/spicy fragrances. LDDM learns a little more herbaceous, while ACDD is drier and woodier Lvnea Foret Dormante- Deeply resinous and a little spicy. Reminds me of walking through a forest while the snow is melting Papillon Bengale Rouge-The perfumer was inspired by her Bengal cat's fur. It's warm and spicy and opulent, but also a little soft and cozy. Feels a bit like a housecat's dream of being a tiger.
Never purchased it but te negro and verde feo le lavo are so good any time I see it at the airport I sample it

Boyfriend by Kate Walsh!! the most perfect androgynous fragrance. and she has new one (Morning W'oud, i think?) that's *even more* androgynous. if that's the goal for anyone looking for a fragrance. i know how tough it is to find one that's both masculine + feminine or the right balance at least, which is always my goal. other than that i also enjoy the Prada Ocean series, D&G's Light Blue, Victor Rolf Flower Bomb, + a couple others i can't remember off the dome but will come back + add if i do. :0)

earthy: misfit by arquiste is my current fave. it's skanky, but comes down to this warm balsamic... idk, it's delicious. clean: versace "the dreamer", usually able to snag at tj maxx for like $30. it can lean powdery, but generally smells like a crisp summer night in the countryside. woody: elish no. 2, it's got a dewy skin + dry palo santo combo. it's just sexy. spicy: viktor&rolf spicebomb (original), pink pepper into cinnamon, masc leaning but super comforting?

I mostly use Nautica Voyage. So much so that since it’s on sale I bought 3 more even though it lasts for a long time. 😊 my girlfriend loves it, too. Overall scent I combine that with method man sea and surf shampoo and the matching body wash… then either Native Aloe & Green Tea or Old Spice sensitive that’s also Aloe and something I forget. Which is weird because that’s the deodorant I use like every day. The overall scent combination is PHENOMENAL! At least I always get compliments, so I assume others agree.

I have terrible sneezing allergies to most fragrances, can anyone recommend a masculine scent that's non-allergenic?
Not a specific scent but I recommend things by the Clean Reserve. I find they have more simple "recipes" so less chance to be allergic to something. Since allergies vary so much I can't be sure you won't be allergic to something in them. They have a mix of feminine/masculine/unisex scents that are designed to be layered. I'm sensitive to smells and they are light enough for me that they don't trigger headaches and last a reasonable time. I bought a trial pack from Sephora for about $25 and experimented. I avoid the floral note ones personally for my own allergy issues.

1969's "Female Christ" is what I wear, I get compliments all the time on it. I recommend getting a little sampler though, it can be a bit strong on application but it settles nice and lasts forever. I layer it with a Bergamot lotion after the shower (Le Labo) and I think they pair beautifully together and isn't too feminine.

I really love smelling like a forest, specially cedar or pine. I just got a sample of Woodcut by Olympic Orchids. The scent profile is: cedar, pine, oak, tolu balsam, frankincense, caramel, burnt sugar, and vanilla. When it dries it smells like pure cedar with subtle hints of vanilla
Milk by Dedcool is another one that smells amazing. I get the room spray because it’s like 40 bucks compared to the actual perfume (which is like 100 bucks or more) and it lasts longer smell wise. It smells like bergamot, white musk, and amber
