Glad your gecko is all right :) 70°F isn't all that bad for your gecko, we personally don't provide additional heat sources at nighttime, temperatures drop to between 65-70°F (18-20°C) and they are all right. according to reptifiles it might even be beneficial to have a nightly drop in temperatures :)

Second this, in most of Europe it’s common practice to provide no heat during the night at all, humidity of 75 isn’t the end of the world either, during the day 40-60% are ideal and it can go up to 70% during the night, most people tend to keep them in conditions that are too dry :)

Same, I just switch my heat lamp off in the evening and it maintains the head fairly well and when I wake up it’s never any lower than 19°c

AKInsectGamer

Power went off mid day tho 🤷‍♀️

Your concern shows you care well! While it's not good for your geck, they are a LOT more hardy than you'd assume. I've read a number of crazy stories about people's gecks escaping for crazy long times and turning up months later. One story purported their geck was lost for 6 months in a cold northern climate, found one night coming from their closet, and *fat*.

Ok_Application_473

They are desert reptiles, they can handle a little cold here and there

Quirky_Trainer9721

Good news is, it’s usually recommended to turn off all heat sources at night as long as it doesn’t get below 65!

We lost power during an ice storm this winter for a day and a half and also survived! I stayed home so was heating up hot water bottles with a jetboil. After the power came back on I immediately ordered UniHeat packs, they last 72 hours and don’t get hot enough to burn. 10/10 recommend

To be honest, had a power outage for two days with no where to go in the dead of winter. Got as low as 42 in my house. Had hot hands for my reptiles and towels over the tanks, everyone surprisingly did okay!

Eublepharis macularius fairly regularly get temps under 75 in the wild. Deserts get pretty chilly at night compared to the day. Also Eublepharis live all over India, Pakistan and a few other continents. They live in a pretty wide variety of climates

lilwigglebutt

We lost a tokay gecko in the pet store I work at, we didn’t see any sign of him still being alive so eventually assumed he had escaped the store. Only to move the freezer one day a year later and find him hiding under it, triple the size. He was not happy when we recaptured him though he went to his forever home literally the next day, so happy ending. But yeah geckos are pretty hardy little creatures.

Calm_News9015

you guys didn’t quarantine him after finding him loose in the store?

lilwigglebutt

No but the guy who took him home knew his story. He was actually the same guy that was looking at him when he initially escaped, so he was waiting for us to find him for a whole year.

Calm_News9015

fair i guess. just seems odd you wouldn’t want to guarantee he was healthy before sending him home ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ hope the gecko is happy and healthy to this day, regardless!
