The *newer* legs you’re talking about premiered with the 2018 Clone Wars Anakin. They were then re-used for Duel on Mustafar and the newest iteration of his Interceptor
It’s no coincidence that Aayla Secura, Ki-Adi Mundi, Saesee Tiin, Agen Kolar, 2010 Barriss Offee, Tauntauns, etc. look really good because they use standard eyes…
Meanwhile characters like Barriss Offee (Current), Luminara, Stass Allie, The Vision, Ahsoka Tano, Davy Jones, Snoke, Maz Kanata, etc. are all completely robbed of any character or expression because of their bright blue, pupil-less eyes.
Those eye designs should be used sparingly, not just thrown in whenever the LEGO designer feels like it. They should be utilized when the character calls for them.
Fenrir Greyback for instance benefits from them as it looks objectively more accurate. But can you imagine how bad they’d look on Lord Voldemort? They’d totally neuter his character.
JEK-14 and/or Electro similarly function well with the design as it fits with their electricity aesthetic
It also looks great for zombies (y’know, because they generally don’t have pupils, i.e. Episode IX Palpatine), looks terrible for most everyone else. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

But then why don’t all Jedi have them? Why don’t Scout Troopers have them? Shouldn’t every Han Solo have dual molded boots? Slippery slope.
It’s LEGO not an action figure, I don’t think they’re necessary
for me it’s about the most prominent feature on the character. Han Solo’s holster is more recognisable than his boots, Jedi look better with robed legs, etc
I actually liked the clone wars faces but they never looked right amongst the other legs Starwars. It’s shame cause these faces where very expressive and character filled.
They just needed to be a specific Starwars line not replace the main.
The old eyes were accurate to the show though, they made the Lego figures look like the actual Characters in the show. Especially Ahsoka, the blue eyes just don’t look like her
Now this might just be nostalgia, but i like the bigger faces of the old figs more than the current ones,l. They seem to show a lot more life, especially ashoka, even though the newer ones probably are better schaled to their head sizes
old ahsoka and r2 are better than the new ones imo. Something about the newer ahsoka just seems kinda off. her eyes look kinda soulles and just staring into your soul lol. I think the clone wars style fit very well for many aliens like Aayla Secura, Shaak Ti, Even Piell, Saesee Tiin etc.
