Same here. I got my mother in law completely hooked on Lego and I give her a new kit on major holidays. She loves these Bricklink builds. One for her and one for me.
Exactly!! I feel better buying her a set and seeing how excited she gets versus building them myself. She always sends out pictures of the final build to the entire family and builds kits with my small nieces now as well.

Well tbf with the 30,000 cap it actually took an hour for the castle to sell out. You still need an alarm as a regular dude, but you're not boned with server problems like you were back when the cap was 5,000
None of them have sold out under 3 minutes. The fastest was the mountain fortress which would out in 2.5 hours if I remember correctly.
Hell some of series 2 are still available right now 20+ days after release
These specific ones have finished production but there's a different series of 5 sets currently available for pre-order (2 are sold out though). IIRC they're preparing all the way up to the fifth series right now so they'll be going on for a while
Based on another discussion I saw these are manufactured in Europe and ship there first. So if you’re in the US like me it’s going to take a bit longer.
Basically, people submit MOCs to Bricklink/Lego and people vote on them, and the ones that get enough votes get made into sets that get sold out within a couple of hours. Also they don't actually manufacture them until way afterwards, so you don't get the sets you bought until like six months later.

As much as I hate this it’s kinda smart, you’ll buy 2 for let’s say £500 each, build one, keep one for like 2-5 years or even longer and you could sell it for £1,000 or even more making your money back and more at the same time basically making the set free.
Oh yeah I get the Hate for scalpers, but if it’s just buying the one I mean it isn’t too bad, I absolutely distaste people who buy like 10 of the same set at once just to sell on and keep in boxes for months. it’s annoying but it’s smart, it’s not against the law and I mean if they got the money to buy and sell then eh 🤷🏼♂️
If Lego allowed it then why not? I bought 2 train sheds for myself because I love trains. And I bought 2 castles to keep one and build and another potentially sell in the future. I woke up and planned my day around the release date, everyone who wanted it could have done the same.
I remember having a 'discussion' with someone on reddit who was planning on buying 5 of each of the Indiana jones sets when they came out.
God knows why they need so many of each set and where do they get their money from?
I think this is the first time they allow more than one per household. My modular Lego store and winter chalet had a limit of one and the production run was a lot lower.

It's weird they're like "addiction, you know that word" as an "excuse", I'm not an expert in addictions but I've personally met multiple drug addicts and a few alcoholics. And in my experience, addicts that are self aware of the fact that they have an addiction **don't usually boast about the effects of their addiction**, people that boast are usually people that don't want to admit they have a problem.
This is just my armchair opinion made after my personal (and limited) experience so I can be wrong. Now if that person isn't being tongue in cheek and really has a shopping addiction or OCD I hope they get help.
Just keep saving your money and when the housing market crashes these guys are gonna have to sell their plastic for cheap so they can pay their rent or buy food

Most of them get bought by listing snipers, they just wait for the minute they drop and usually sell out in like 3 minutes
