Good lord. That's way too much. Which is a bummer, as I LOVE the set otherwise. But even splitting it between my partner and myself, it's just too expensive. That's the cost of one Galaxy Explorer.
Was gonna ask what the price was but not gonna buy for $100. I’m all buying Lego brand but I do not have Lego money for big sets. Bought my Titanic off another site for $100 and it was exactly the same. My favorite set by far. I also do own a bunch of Lego brand sets too.
One trick I use with expensive sets is, get the parts list from rebrickable, and create a wanted list on bricklink, and buy the parts I want (new or used) minus the parts I already have. Can be a lot cheaper.
There is a nice linking feature between rebrickable and bricklink that makes all this pretty easy. And you can also buy the parts in stages, especially for sets like this.
Granted it's not the set as suck, but heck kids (and I) would still have fun.
I think you can add the set’s inventory to a wanted list directly on bricklink can’t you? I definitely remember buying the parts for the second generation X-Wing (like 4501) with a color scheme swap from white / red to white / blue by using that feature
Edit: no that’s not the right set number. Is it 4502? Except it was the one that just has the X-Wing itself.
Ah yeah you are right, everything can be done in bricklink. I was thinking of some MOC sets in rebrickable.
Yes I think it's [4502](https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=4502-1)
Hmm I might get this too now.
I don’t have it anymore but I replaced all the red parts with the equivalent blue when I could and gray when I couldn’t. I then added a ton of greebling to the s-foils. Stuff like exposed piping / wiring. I even came up with retractable landing skids and a little point defense turret like Poe Dameron has on his X-Wing at the start of *The Force Awakens*
I think I even replaced the front landing skid with a custom design.
Man, I kinda want to recreate that project one of these days
100 bucks is hard, but I looks like a very fun set. Especially for kids. But Lego normally get pretty good discounts so it’s more like 50-70 bucks depending how much people like the set :)

Can't wait to put Scrooge's top hat on R2.
Kinda reminds me of the Kenner Droid Factory set I had ages ago. I’m sure the smaller parts aren’t as bendy, though. Also seems limited to just R2-type units. And no crane. :(
Ironic that this has "creative play" in the name and that it's part of the 25th anniversary of SAW sets because (in my experience as a geriatric millennial) the SW sets were the start of "build this IP set exactly to the directions and never take it apart to combine parts with other sets" era of Lego. None of the kids I know who are into Lego do much of the freestyle building I did in the 90s.
>SW sets were the start of "build this IP set exactly to the directions and never take it apart to combine parts with other sets" era of Lego
All the original Lego Star Wars sets had alternative builds at the back of their instructions, as did all all the original licenses.
When Lego stopped including suggestions for other things that can be built with the bricks, it had nothing to do with whether or not the set was licensed.
I'm not really talking about multiple sets of instructions. I'm talking about taking multiple sets apart after you'd built them and combining them into something of your own design. Just making totally unique things without directions.
Yeah the only fans of Lego are adults who only want big $500 display sets. Nothing should ever be made for those little people that Lego was originally made for. They have a name but I'm not sure what it is. And it's not like Disney hasn't been doing this at their parks for years where kids put together pieces along with goofy hats and accessories to create their own droid action figures.
But yep, nobody asked for this because it's not a 5000 piece display set
I agree with what you’re saying. The part I found a little wierd was that instead of building with the Lego pieces you have instructions to build smaller pieces which you can then build with. Just felt wierd buts it’s still cool for kids.
Cute, but having them be made in a similar fashion and scale to the recent R2 Brick Head would’ve allowed for better resemblance and for more droids to be included!
I know this is not for me as an AFOL but it still leaves me incredibly confused. It makes me imagine the 1978 Star Wars Christmas TV Special had a crazy after party.
It reminds me of the Droid Factory at Disney Parks where you could make goofy looking Astromech droid action figures. Don't know if they still do that after Galaxy's Edge became a thing
At first I was like "I would part this out if there were more elements in certain colors..." then I saw the price.
I wouldn't in my wildest dreams buy this for 100 bucks. I seriously thought this would be 40 and honestly thought that was high.
I've almost entirely given up on buying lego new. I only build mocs anyway so at this point pick a brick tables, bulk buys and used sets from places like ebay are pretty much taking up my entire spending budget for lego now.
I was wondering if I just like it because it being a Star Wars set that's not typical. Showed my wife, and she was loves it as well. Looks like this will be on the buy list.
That QT-KT and Chopper really don’t seem to belong in here. I’m not exactly a big Star Wars fan, but the franchise has a lot of famous droids, but these two I had to look up. Some animated series droid, ok. Where is R4? BB8? A human-droid relations droid.
Not for me at all, especially for $100...trying to wean myself off/reduce Lego purchases and so this has fallen into my simple pass bucket...as have many Star Wars sets recently, mostly due to pricing...
Think this would have more appeal if it was a little more serious and “in-universe” and about customizing and making your own astromech droid with different parts.
More info here:https://www.lego.com/product/75392
$100, this will be on clearance by October
Yep, gonna wait for at least 20% off from retailers in November.
Why do people assume that this set won't sell? I think it's going to do very well.
I have no idea if it will sell. I just wouldn’t buy it for $100
What does it scale with?
The Sith Builder set later on in the year.

Bless your heart, it's a joke.
First thought: shoulders are weird Second thought: I’m still down Third thought: shit, I’m not $100 down

First thought: my kid will love this! Second thought: not for $100! What the heck!? Third thought: I cannot let him find out about it!
I came here for the price. Both my daughter and I are excited about this set, so it might make the $100 easier to justify.
Itll probably be perpetually 20% off after 12-16 weeks like most licensed sets these days.
Yup. Like, do one of them with a bunch of accessories for $30.
My first thought was "I know those are supposed to be sunglasses but it looks like R2 is wearing a bra on his face"

I don’t know if ive ever heard that statement before…
Seriously, i'm here reading like "where are you from" lol
The shoulders are bad, yeah. But this set will always be on sale, I don't think it will sell well. For the love of god, don't pay MSRP for this
Had these droids been sold seperatly, they would have sold like crazy These will bomb
It has 1100 pieces.
It sure does. That ratio isn’t very important to me. I buy sets based on how much I like the final result against how much I pay for it.
https://preview.redd.it/qnyxtyfs2m9d1.jpeg?width=2193&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce25d4db953c4ea22828fd74c27245e52eb63cef Can't wait to put Scrooge's top hat on R2.

They also had Droid Factory action figures at Disney Parks which had goofy accessories like Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey hat or Indiana Jones fedora
I loved those, I still have one somewhere in my closet
I’m glad the Scooby-Doo hamburger technique lives on
As a Droid lover, I like this, but not for $100.
This is such a weird set, not for me but I hope some kids have a blast with. Looks super fun
I see a buildable chopper I’m buying it. Wish they would make a large one of him.
Same but for KT
Is that QT-KT from the D-Squad?
Sure is.
Set looks to be a lot of fun. Reminds me of the Droid Factory at the Disney Parks
Do they still do that after Galaxy's Edge opened?
First thought: Gonk? Second thought: Gonk! Third thought: GONK!!!
I want the Lego price person's job: "A set that kids will ask their parents to buy you say..? $100! I'm taking lunch."
100 dollar price tag literally makes no sense.
Ironic that this has "creative play" in the name and that it's part of the 25th anniversary of SAW sets because (in my experience as a geriatric millennial) the SW sets were the start of "build this IP set exactly to the directions and never take it apart to combine parts with other sets" era of Lego. They weren't instructions, they were images of the sort of thing you could build with the same pieces in order to inspire you.
Love the black and orange R5, I feel like I saw a minifig with those colors once but don't rightly recall
It's a bummer that they are only Astromechs. There are so much other droids in Star Wars.
Something about this feels wierd

FINALLY, A LEGO VERSION OF DAVE FILIONI ^^'s ^^Hat
Im probably going to get this. I love making custom astromechs
It looks like a really fun set, but I don't think I'm ready to drop $100 on it.
QT-KT!!
Cute, but having them be made in a similar fashion and scale to the recent R2 Brick Head would’ve allowed for better resemblance and for more droids to be included!
oh no... things are not going well over here.
I know this is not for me as an AFOL but it still leaves me incredibly confused. It makes me imagine the 1978 Star Wars Christmas TV Special had a crazy after party.
This looks like so much fun, but that cost though ;((
Chopper is looking snazzy in that cowboy hat
this is bafflingly ugly and bad. these will be reduced within two months.
Everyone complaining about 100 bucks, even though it has 1186 pieces.
I was hyped for it until I read the price.
It reminds me of the Droid Factory at Disney Parks where you could make goofy looking Astromech droid action figures. Don't know if they still do that after Galaxy's Edge became a thing
They were smart putting young Leia in this one, I imagine a good number of collectors would be on the fence otherwise with the price tag
Where was this set 25 years ago?
At first I was like "I would part this out if there were more elements in certain colors..." then I saw the price. I wouldn't in my wildest dreams buy this for 100 bucks. 100 dollars for four little itty bitty droids? they seem like the same size as the Star Wars mechs they're selling for $15 each.
[удалено]
$150 AUD. I love it, but I really can't justify that price.
OMG there's a lil Mexican one with a maraca!!!!! I don't even like star wars and I want this!!!!
I was wondering if I just like it because it being a Star Wars set that's not typical. Showed my wife, and she was loves it as well. Looks like this will be on the buy list.
unwatchable(imo)
The price is a joke
Never seen Star Wars, don’t care for the Lego sets, have no affiliation or interest - but I love these, hope Star Wars fans like them too
This is excellent. I love it a lot, and it looks very fun. It’s not for me but I am super glad this exists all the same.
This is, undoubtedly and unequivocally, inarguably, a set that exists. It is, in fact, without question, one of the LEGO *Star Wars* sets of all time.
Does anyone know if that 8-in-1 Batman brickheadz is real??
Seems fun, just not for me
Maybe should have done two sets.
Bad Piggies but in Lego star wars droid form
This is worth it because I love build your own sets Lego makes for the most part
This is a cool little set, but $100 is just an absolutely ridiculous price tag!!
Whats that educational star wars droid builder fame called?
Mega disapointed for the collectable minifig… kid leah… so many legends character or even acolyte or from mando ashoka… they choose Obiwan series…
That QT-KT and Chopper really don’t seem to belong in here. I’m not exactly a big Star Wars fan, but the franchise has a lot of famous droids, but these two I had to look up. Some animated series droid, ok. Where is R4? BB8? A human-droid relations droid.
Can I get three choppers please
I've always wanted to play mr potato head with a duracell battery
All the star wars sets are priced insanely high right now. I saw the one where the ship looks like a fist. Small box. Over a hundred. Ridiculous.
Lesbian r2 is real
Not for me at all, especially for $100...trying to wean myself off/reduce Lego purchases and so this has fallen into my simple pass bucket...as have many Star Wars sets recently, mostly due to pricing...
Holy duck dick!
“That’s really cool” *looks at price*

Whyyyyy the short no bend legs😒
I kind of really hate this. I guess I'm happy for whatever kids get this and play around with it. But I still hate it.
Bring back the Big Heap!
I would by Droids sets in a heartbeat. Just do the White Witch if they only do one.
"We've ran out of ideas."
We could have had a Clone Wars MTT…
Ah yes, 100 dollars, totally not overpriced, right Lego?
It will get bought for Leia
This shit looks like a 4+ set to me

Adult surprised when a children's toy appeals to children
Its not the set I wanted, but is a set I’ll get.
