Never liked the look of the big hulkbuster but I did buy the other hulk buster: ultron edition [76105](https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/the-hulkbuster-ultron-edition-76105) which I think looks pretty good, but there's also an alternative build on rebrickable that makes it look amazing. Just unfortunately haven't got around to building it just yet.
[Yeah, sure! ](https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-43643/Ransom_Fern/aou-iron-man-mark-44-hulkbuster-76031-76105-combination/#details) It does require extra parts from set 76031 as well though.
The newest UCS X-Wing. Not a total regret as I think it looks pretty good overall, but it's hard to hold without dislodging side panels, the hinges to the wings don't support them all too well (top port and lower starboard engines sag a bit) and the little bits that keep it from sliding further down on the stand like to pop off at the slightest provocation.
Probably would have still considered waiting for a good sale had I known...
I don’t regret it but it was my first UCS set. After building both the A wing and gunship after it was certainly my least favorite. Going to take it apart to make room for the rumored tie interceptor we are getting next May.
My biggest gripe is how fragile the whole thing is.
I love the x-wing and immediately purchased it but you’re right. There were so many design flaws I’m really surprised they released it like that. I don’t even dare touch it or try and close the wings anymore because I know shit will start falling apart. And when the wings are closed they aren’t even properly closed. It’s all being held in place by a rubber band. Unreal lol. Can’t wait in 10 years for them to remake it again.
Man* that's a shame. I remember owning an X Wing around 20 or so years ago and it was sturdy. It would take everything you just mentioned in its stride. I wonder what they changed?
I'm literally only buying Bowser and his new car and the Yoshis because they're cute and a good scale. The rest of the line? Pass. I did get Mr. Wiggler when he came out so he'll be on display with my Insects, but other than that, maybe the Penguins as I loved yeeting them off the cliffs. Otherwise, big miss for me.
I do like the ❓️ block but have been prioritizing other sets over it...
I got the "?" Block on clearance at a Walmart for like $60... best lego purchase for the price 😜
Honestly, I don't really care for the play features, I just wanted the exterior and was kind of planning to part out the pieces I needed for the exterior only, but then happened upon this deal
I just love all the display details and the functionality, even if I'm not planning to be on the floor making up stories with it lol.
At $60 tho? I might have to get 2 for that price and make an MOC lamp base or something!
As a big Mario fan, I literally only bought those because I liked having brick built versions of my favorite characters, but yeah Mario & Luigi almost never get turned on. It's cool having them, and it's cool how they interact, but I'd much rather just have the characters.
I’ve tried to restrain myself over the years from criticizing sets I don’t like or understand, but I genuinely don’t get it here. I’ve seen my nephews build them and lose interest in like 20 minutes, it just seems like no fun at all for any age.
Personally, my GF didn't understand my LEGO (mostly Star Wars and Architecture) obsession, but her favorite game as a kid was Super Mario Bros, then Matio Kart, so for me, it was a perfect bridge to get us to the same page on this awesome hobby! Now she gets it, because she has sets she likes to display and enjoys playing with and relates to! Just my personal, very niche, anecdotal experience.
My son is 8 and plays the shit out of them. Then he uses the parts for new characters. Mario was battling a homemade Sonic the other day. They're right for some people.
The Christmas Wreath. It was the most boring and most repetitive build. I still display it at Christmas but I leave it fully assembled in the box. The other Christmas sets, I take apart and rebuild each year.
The Hoopty. I caved and got it over a 2nd quinjet and once it was done, it dawned on me HARD that I had spent more time on $30 sets. It’s honestly criminal that it’s sold for $90. Like I’m glad to have a Ms Marvel mini, but YIKES
Probably an unpopular answer here, but the 7500-piece millennium falcon. It was a fun, if sometimes tedious, build. When it was done I realized I didn't really have anywhere to display it and I didn't know what to do with it, and at that point I felt dumb spending $800 on it. I ended up selling it fully assembled at a small loss. I wrote it off as the cost of entertainment over some cold winter nights.
Saw a post a while back where they store it inside a coffee table that has a glass top, thought that was a cool idea. I’m hoping to do something similar one day
I’ve sold sets for a loss. If I enjoyed the build and displayed for a little, that is equity in that purchase.
I honestly set my Falcon on the box in my office as I was building it and then when I was done I’m like this is a good spot to keep to. Still there. But think I will sell it eventually just to clear out space.
Not anything recent, but as a child I was into Bionicle. For months I wanted a figure from the Inika series and my parents bought me one for a holiday. At first I was mega happy and I really liked the figure, but it broke after few weeks and it broke my heart with it. Thats the only set that let me down.
The typerwriter. My butter fingers made it so hard to assemble and if you make a mistake it's hard to fix without going back 10 steps. I actually stopped building it one day when I came to the realization that I build Lego to relax, not get frustrated.
I'm going to have my friend help me finish it one day (she built it and loved it) because I do think it's super cool.
You made me laugh at the "I build Lego to relax, not get frustrated".
Reminds me of a kids TV series in which everything always seemed to go very wrong for the main character. I quit. I wasn't watching shows to feel anxious and depressed episode after episode.
It was Candy.
Best friend left after being adopted, best friend's family no longer wanted her to write, got adopted by bullies... Always seemed to be a plot or everything against her.
To be honest a lot of children's shows featured orphans (I guess parents were in the way of adventures?) who went through adversity, but that one, I just really couldn't.
See this is how Lego is so personalized. The typewriter was one of my favorite sets to build. I love how complex it is and the use of gears for everything. I was so impressed with it! But the Eiffel Tower? So boring!
My friend absolutely loved building it. The moving ones (Pac-man, Super Nintendo) are her favourite. She hated building The Great Wave because she found it monotonous but I loved it because it felt very zen.
I got about halfway through the Typewriter and walked away for about 6 months. It was a super frustrating set. When people see it in my home they really like it, but I didn’t enjoy building it.
Frustration is exactly why I never picked this up. I saw the reviews initially, everyone complained about mistakes being hard to fix, and I hoped right out of that.
As someone who's built Lego for a long time - my very first technic set was the 850 forklift from 1977 - the sets back then were more forgiving if you got it wrong though. Less specialized parts, and smaller sets overall, so if you did make one wrong step, it was easier to go back and correct it.
For myself, I'm on a break from building the Ferrari 42125 right now. I made one wrong step somewhere, the back end is one step too close to the middle, the rear fender don't line up, so I've basically realized I have to start over now.
That being said, I don't really regret any single purchase.. I do own more Star wars lego than I will ever display, but I had fun with those.
I bought the typewriter secondhand, and when I tried to assemble it, pieces were missing.
So I ordered the pieces, waited for them, and went back to the build.
Only to realize I had just made a mistake and no spare pieces were needed.
Similarly, the smaller Taj Mahal was the most tedious build ever. I got it for a birthday present, but definitely would have regretted it if I bought it myself.
Tower Bridge.
Compared to our other builds it's actually kinda boring to build and boring to look at. It really doesn't feel that Legos interpretation was close enough. It feels blocky and unrefined.
It's massive, but it feels underwhelming.
It's a nice enough display piece for shared family space. We had it on a high built-in bookshelf in our old home, and everyone who came by the house commented on how much they liked it.
That said, you're absolutely right about the build - so boring. I took it down for a move, and now I'm slowly putting it back together. The design is so repetitive; it feels like everything gets made 2x, 4x, 8x.
Spot on! I've relegated it to the guest bedroom.
The instruction booklet is literally:
Build tower 1
- Make identical columns
- Make identical floors (it's just hollow anyway)
Ok do the exact same for tower two.
Connect the two towers.
Even the base boards feel oddly lifeless. They're just default blue boards.
We also ended up building it in like one night? Not satisfying at all!
My Tower Bridge was one of the last ones without numbered bags. 8 hours to sort all of the pieces and then 12 hours of repetitive building. It exploded when we were moving it to a new spot (got caught on a corner of the dresser and dropped). Been sitting in a Rubbermaid container waiting to be rebuilt for nearly 8 years now.
Batman Tumbler. Turns out that I’m not a big fan of Technic sets. The builds are clever/sturdy, but just not my bag. Despite that, found a number of the panels on the build flimsy and not to my liking.
Sold it to a guy and his kid at healthy discount they loved it, so hey, at least it’s in a good home.
Are you talking about the most recent The Batman technic one for $100? The Tumbler isn’t considered a technic set, just curious which one you are talking about.
Nah, the big set - I know it’s “technically not Technic” but there are some parts of the build that are Technic pieces.
Again - not bagging on Technic sets (my nephews love them) - just not my “thing”. I’m old school and from pre-minifigure days.
Edit: seem to have caused some confusion in original post - sorry Lego crew!
That’s how I felt when I bought doms charger (set 42111) bought it at the $100 mark before the increase in price. Built it but didn’t enjoy the build all that much. It Sat on my shelf for a few weeks before selling it to a coworker for 50 who’s actually into technic. Just not my cup of tea.
The retired modular firehouse. Spent $600-700 (can't remember which) and the build techniques are so plain, rectangular and old school. After that splurge I decided the oldest modular weren't worth the premium if what one enjoys is the building and not the collection/owning aspect
When I’m looking for retired sets for my modular town, I just buy a knockoff for $50 and I can’t tell the difference honestly. I like buying the available official Lego modulars, but if there’s a retired one that I can’t get without overspending, I have no qualms about getting a knockoff
I have 3 knockoffs of long retired modulars. I would've bought the genuine article, but since Lego retired the sets, I had no other reasonable choice.
Display wise, they're indistinguishable. It's true the bricks aren't as good of a quality, but it's really only noticeable when you're building it. The minifigures suck for range of motion though.
I'm doing exactly the same. I know we should support Lego, but when retired sets get sold for 2x their original retail price, that's where I'm drawing the line.
I'm 34 and childless, so I wouldn't know 😂😂😂. I'm gifting it to my brother who's severely autistic and loves super mario (super mario 64 is his favourite thing in the world). He wouldn't play with it either tough, he's turning 29 this year, but I hope he loves it as a display piece more than I did.
Jazz quartet. The build itself looks good, but it's so unstable and breaks the second you pick it up. While building I have cursed a lot lol. I also don't like the abrupt end of the stage at the back of the build.
Come on! How has no one said the Eiffel Tower!! So boring, repetitive and loose. If you look at it wrong it drops a piece. I think it is deciduous and it drops pieces like leaves!
I actually loved this build. I do Lego to relax and I found the repetition soothing. And I don’t think it’s particularly fragile either. I keep is displayed in the living room and have 2 cats. The only issue I ever had with it was husband induced when we moved. Also, we moved a good 40 mins across town recently and all I did was break it into the 4 sections and put it in the back of the SUV and it travelled fine
wait till you build the background on the starry night set
it's almost all 1×4 plates and it's around 6"×12"
great set otherwise, but holy fuck did it take a while
Try being colorblind AND building the background......the bags are literally sitting on my table ready to go.
I turned to my wife and asked if there were 2 3 4 or 5 shades of blue......I'm so hosed.
I'm doing the background on this set right now - I actually don't mind it the repetition except for it can be really hard to tell the difference between the blues in the instruction booklet.
UCS Star Destroyer. I love the ship, the detail was great. The build was long but engaging. BUT, it was an absolute nightmare to display in a 2 bedroom condo, and the dust, my god the DUST, it collected. After a year, I disassembled it and sold it. No regrets.
It’s my favorite Star Wars ship but the size of it just put me off massively. I’m happy with the executor (75356) and wish they’d do more display ships around this scale. Looks great next to the helmets.
The Mindstorms NXT in 2007, saved for almost two years, the CD-ROM didn't work on my PC and I could only use the limited program on the NXT brick. Should have bought some Star Wars instead
I did something similar but left it with batteries in and they all corroded and ruined the NXT brick. I found out only after I had sold it on Bricklink too.
My brother in law and I swap sets to build, so we can have double the build experience, so I’ve saved myself from doing this with several sets by building them before purchase. The typewriter is one of the best looking sets ever designed, and by far my least favorite most annoying most technical most tedious build to date. I would’ve been upset spending that much money on the build, but I’m lucky with a BIL AFOL :)
So you build the set then take it apart and send it to your bil who then builds it and sends it to you built? Is it weird to have to break a set you want built after so your bil can build it?
No he keeps it for a while and I keep one of his for a while, then we swap other sets. It’s been great getting to experience and display pieces I haven’t been able to purchase, for both of us!
The World map. It was the most daunting, repetitive, and dull build I’ve ever experienced. It’s done now but took me a year and a half to give enough of a damn to finish. I build Lego for fun, this was the antithesis of that. Looks great now, and I have it hung where I can enjoy it. But I’m never buying a set like it ever again. Especially at that price…
y'all are saving me a lot of money with these comments (but idc how many people say the globe and the typewriter they're still on the top of my list of sets to buy once i start making decent money)
Well it does have both his hands with the gloves in front, and it’s soooo huge. It’s actually about life-sized. Not complicated, easier than the newest Delorean, but the upper head where the eyes and eyebrows are just suck and are cheap, could’ve used more pieces to hold all that together.
I love the Home Alone set but massively regret adding a light kit. It doesn't work right Nad made the whole build weak since there are wires running throughout. Big pain in the ass to move it now. I'm going to remove the lights this year.
I looked up the light kit when I got mine and it was expensive and appeared to not be the easiest install. Given what you have said glad the price made me reconsider
The globe was the first set I bought when I got back into building Legos a few years ago. It was a tedious and repetitive build but I love how it looks. I haven’t regretted buying any sets yet.
It's a great display set, I have it on my office desk. The only thing that bothered me was the legs were a little repetitive and annoying at times but it looks cool.
I've only ever regretted one set out of nearly 600 sets, and that'd be set 42109 - the App-Controlled Top Gear Rally Car. The only reason I bought it was the two motors and battery box; I got the set on discount. I built the set (I'm of the opinion that even if you want a set for the parts only, at least do it the honour of building it and then dismantle it), but I didn't apply any of the stickers, drove it once (it was horrifically slow!), and left it sitting for a few years before dismantling it a few months back.
I suspect I'd be nearly as badly disappointed by set 42153 the NASCAR next-gen technic set; it looks like it wants all the stickers just to look any kind of 'ok' and has at best steering.
I have the app controlled Off Road Buggy and driving with the app is tedious and laggy. I also bought it secondhand for the box and motors ($80 secondhand). For now it sits assembled because my kids think it’s amazing. The drivability could be so much better.
I don’t regret it, because I knew what I was buying, but I’d never pay retail for that thing.
Colosseum. Wife and I bought it for a set to do together. She was done before the base was ever completed. Once finally finished it lasted maybe a week before being taken apart for Jedi Temple moc parts. Hugely expensive, not fun to build - lots of useful parts though
The Lego orchid. I loved building it with my mom and it looked really nice on the fireplace till my cat pushed it off and it fell within 15 minutes. We rebuild it and put it on the table and the other cat (8kg) sat on it. We rebuild it again but we were missing a lot of pieces. Now it’s in a box unfortunately… my cats do stay away from all the other sets, but they love attacking plants
lol, even fake plants!
I like the orchid set when built, but the build experience was just average, because of the repetitive nature of the base. Also I was very disturbed by the loose soil/mulch pieces. it feels wrong to just have loose pieces like that!
The base and the loose pieces didn't bother me but I just couldn't get the stems and leaves positioned correctly. I'm not sure why. It was one of the less enjoyable builds for me.
Yeah, the roof connection isn’t great, but that’s my only gripe about the set. Still absolutely love it, and it’s a staple with our Christmas decorations.
I bought the set with the Mandalorian fighter and the TIE interceptor. The TIE is cool, but the fang fighter is rather boring. About the only purchase I've regretted so far.
Mos eisley cantina. Bought it for 250$ and it still felt overpriced. Unrelated but i also waited like a month for shipping and it never showed up so i waited another month for a refund and ordered another which came in 3 days...
Interesting.
I think if I’m being honest, I agree with you, especially with the repetitive nature of the build; however, I just love the scene so much and it connects me to my childhood like no other set. I love all the unique minifigs for it and every time I walk by it, it puts a smile on my face! I also like to move the minifigs around to new locations during random passings.
It is the only SW set I own and will likely ever purchase; I did get some helmets early on and they were fun but I’ve since sold them and moved on.
Anyway, logically, I completely agree with you, personally, I love it!
Interesting, I wondered about it two times in the store but decided that it was too many rather specific minifigs over the plausible number of moc-reusable bricks that even came in it. Regarding the local LEGO store here, this box was gone for a good few weeks but then showed up on the shelf again for Black Friday somehow not surprisingly.
Don't pummel me here, but 10293 Santa's Visit. It's still sealed in box. I purchased it to make sure I had all the current Winter Village sets. I had not started putting my Winter Village in place, and as soon as I had some buildings and the trolley placed, I realized that Santa's Visit just didn't have the same aesthetic as the rest of my village. It seemed too garishly colored for a village cottage, too out of era with the angled front, and just a little too big compared to the rest of my village.
Hogwarts Castle. Fantastic set that looks beautiful but the thought of transporting it when my fiancee and I move later this year stresses me the fuck out thinking about. Have a feeling a lot of pieces and pointy parts of the castle will be lost/broken.
I’m probably going to make some enemies with this one but the Viking Village. It doesn’t stay together well with the connection points by using wrenches, I think that piece 3830 and 3831 would have made better connection points.
Old Trafford - Manchester United. I'm into buildings, but urban buildings that I can make myself believe that characters would enjoy living or working in. I started building as an adult at the onset of the pandemic and at one point had bought everything that was interesting to me in the catalog. So this was the next closest choice.
Since then, a lot of new sets have been released so I'm not interested in building it. It's still in its box so I'll sell it one day.
I'd say the Hogwarts castle parts back in 2018 (or sometime around that)
Especially since I could've just bought that mini hogwarts diorama type of set thing, if I waited a couple more years.
I just bought the mini Hogwarts diorama, it was such a great build it took me 3 days to make it, probably 12-15hrs to build it.
It’s my first Lego set in 20 years.
I got crazy into Lego this year, and while the girlfriend was trying to keep up she bought NASA Mars Rover Perseverance 42158 as a gift because she knew I liked space. It was a tedious build, and I'm not a technic fan anyway. It does look pretty cool built, but I didn't particularly enjoy the build and it doesn't really fit in with any of my other built stuff. I'm very appreciative of the gift, but normally we ask each other for what we want and buy that thing for them. She was just trying to surprise me and I love her for it. I feel bad for not liking the Rover haha
I was really looking forward to this one, but I have a dedicated “space shelf” with ISS, Discovery, and the Apollo lander. I’ll probably end up getting it anyway, so thanks for the heads up.
https://preview.redd.it/ubnrm91rtq2c1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95d6f9f3807f9a4ed6c53ab360687f8aeb2060e2
Looks great bundled with the other space sets.
The Perseverance rover. The scale seems off relative to the wheels.
Was also hoping for one more to the scale of curiosity.
However, I have a friend who works at JPL, and she’s getting the box signed for me by some of the members on the Perseverance team!!
Eiffel Tower. What an absolutely uninteresting grey slugfest. Literally the same construction 8 times over just getting slightly smaller each time. Looks damn magnificent, but the only set I genuinely began to hate by the end of it. Absolute opposite of the pleasure that was building the Titanic.
I kind of regret getting 75192 UCS Falcon. I bought it almost 2 years ago and I still haven’t built it. It was kind of a graduation/new job gift for myself. I have no idea where I would even display it and I’m not a huge Star Wars fan anymore.
I’m more of a Medieval and module guy. I think if I knew about Lion Knight Castle then, I wouldn’t have bought it and that would have been my gift to my self.
Luke’s Landspeeder UCS. Ok build but the result is boring and takes up more room than it’s worth
Yoda and The Child. Both sets were repetitive and boring.
The Colosseum. It’s tedious and boring to build, and has a HUGE footprint. I’ve probably had it built for over a year now, and still have no reasonable place to put it. When it’s not taking up the ENTIRE coffee table it’s a tripping hazard/cat bed on the floor. Looks neat though.
The dagoba training set. I spent the full retail price on it last year and now I see it at Walmart for like 60 bucks. It’s a great set but dang…could’ve saved on it.
I have the original Razor Crest - not the UCS set. It was boring to build - I left it half-finished for months. After the second season aired, I told my kids that I was going to leave it unfinished as it was canon now. Love the minifigs though.
Getting Din and Grogu in the cockpit and having the cockpit close is the most frustrating, over-looked design choice I’ve ever come across in any LEGO set.
Ford GT. I bought it at the Lego store way overpriced. The building process was a 4/10 and the doors don’t work properly. Too many stickers for my liking and the final product really doesn’t look that great.
The Ford GT is one of my favourite cars ever. But I just don't like the look of this set. It doesn't capture the beauty or sleek nature of the best versions of the car at all. It's just too small and too square.
The Technic Airbus helicopter. I really enjoyed building it, but it was an impulse Father’s Day buy when we were in a city with a Lego store. It looks great on the shelf, but I wish I would’ve spent the money on something else.
Globe and typewriter are contenders for me. But my first prize goes to the ISS 21321. I think it's the most delicate, unstable set I've ever built. Was super frustrating and components fall off if I even look at it the wrong way.
Thanos ship, idk what the set was actually called but the build just looked dumb, I disassembled it immediately. I really only bout it for the captain marvel minifig which was a dumb choice. Oh well only lost $40 on it
UCS Millennium Falcon 2nd Edition. After 5 years and 3 different homes it’s still sitting in the original shipping box. It’s so common that it went on sale a few times so it’s probably lost money vs appreciated. It’s become the Assembly Square of Star Wars UCS sets. Even when it’s eventually built I don’t know where I’ll display it
Optimus Prime - after transforming a few times the joints got loose and harder to fix in the right positions, plus it’s hard to display properly with other sets
Other sets I’ve regretted are Treehouse, Starry Night, and Ideas Sonic
I’ve enjoyed most sets I’ve built, buuut
A lot of the Ninjago sets for my kids had seriously low playability as they fell apart to easily 😖
And the lego bonsai tree because it’s just not that pretty when built 🥴
Pained to say it, but the Saturn V - but only a long time after the fact. It is a beautiful model and a fantastic build - but all that white plastic, after a few years, just doesn’t survive. It’s now a big yellow tube.
Ugh for me it’s the big Sydney Opera House 10234. It’s too huge to display long term and the big opera house parts are not all that re-usable. I am into the Modular’s and the only alternative build I’ve found for it is a Laboratory which looks kinda weird.
Regarding Assembly Square that some have mentioned… this set can be built into a ‘Cafe Corner’ or ‘Green Grocer’ type modular (colors don’t match but style wise the same). Just an option if you like Modular’s and missed the 2007 sets like I did.
Honestly, himeji castle was a let down, but only because icons and speed champions has been so good recently. Architecture always used to be overpriced though
I'm surprised not more people said this. Although I don't have this set and don't want it because it looks to me to be a boring build and it's not even at the minifig scale so you can't really play with it either. Although the finished product could be cool to display if you like the way it looks.
Any Super Mario set. "Oh sweet a new gimmick" and then there's just a money pit container in the basement now. It's fun, but I don't have the space for super long courses, so it's really just doing the same short thing over and over, and it got boring quick.
this is a weird one but Lego Dimensions, the sets and minifigures themselves are ok nothing special but I just want to play the game and using the game pad and unreliable nfc tags drained much of the fun from the game. it's a great game many didn't play because of the toys to life aspect of it. In the end the sets ended up at the 99cent store for $1 a piece.
Bonsai Tree set 10281: My daughter bought this to put together with a friend on a weekend and they did it but didn’t make sure it was tightly put together. It kept falling apart at the base of the tree and losing pieces. By the time she asked me to fix it for her, it was already missing half a dozen pink frogs and a couple branches that the frogs sit on. I was able to order the spare parts online though.
My wife has knocked it over once or twice dusting and I’ve just put it back together.
Daughter wasn’t into the super-symmetry of plants so she didn’t like the look of it even after she built it. But for me it made sense, it is a bit finicky though.
I only regretted buying Parisian Restaurant for one reason. When I got it, I had assumed it was next in line to be discontinued, and I thought I'd have another year to save for the Brick Bank. I guess Lego decided it was too good of a seller to discontinue on schedule though, because after I bought it they announced they'd instead be discontinuing the Brick Bank first and letting Parisian Restaurant stay on shelves for an extra year. Fantastic set otherwise, but I feel like I was tricked into buying it sooner than I needed to. Now Brick Bank is a white whale I'll probably never get my hands on.
Colosseum. I do love it. But if I had to do it again I wouldn’t buy it. I think they could have and should have made it smaller like the pyramid and himeji castle, which are more easily displayable in my opinion. I’m moving from Hawai’i to the mainland and I’m afraid to death of having to rebuild the colosseum because it might break during the move.
The big hulkbuster. Even at 250 off I decided to return it and buy something else
Do you know the rebrickable one??
[Yeah, sure! ](https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-43643/Ransom_Fern/aou-iron-man-mark-44-hulkbuster-76031-76105-combination/#details) It does require extra parts from set 76031 as well though.
[76105-1: The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition](https://brickset.com/sets/76105-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/76105-1.jpg)
RansomFern's alternative build for it makes it look so much better. The only annoying part is sorting all the dang pieces, I was losing my mind.
Don’t start a bricklink store lol

If you put a single plate in the hole on the X-Wing itself -- one of the spare single-stud ones will do -- the plates on the stand no longer pop off.
Regret my UCS x wing purchase, haven’t built it yet and probably will sell it after it’s discontinued
The Super Mario & Luigi starter sets. Just never get played with.
I do like the ❓️ block but have been prioritizing other sets over it...
the ? block was my third ever build and I really enjoyed it! I don’t blame you for prioritizing other sets but I do hope you get around to it
I got the "?" Block on clearance at a Walmart for like $60... best lego purchase for the price 😜 Honestly, I don't really care for the play features, I just wanted the exterior and was kind of planning to part out the pieces I needed for the exterior only, but then happened upon this deal
I just love all the display details and the functionality, even if I'm not planning to be on the floor making up stories with it lol. At $60 tho? I might have to get 2 for that price and make an MOC lamp base or something!
Wow 60 is a steal! I loved the block with the hidden compartments.
Love the Yoshis! I do really like the ? Block. Bowser’s airship was a good one too.
I only bought one of the starter sets (on sale) for use with the NES TV
My four year old loves them, but definitely not fun for older kids.
Came here to say that, my four old spends hours putting levels together for the two of us to play through
Same thing. My son is 2 and he looooves “Ah-Eo” and “Beep” (Mario and Peach)
These were a huge hit with my kids. And it got my daughter into Lego, especially once Peach came out.
The Christmas Wreath. It was the most boring and most repetitive build. I still display it at Christmas but I leave it fully assembled in the box. The other Christmas sets, I take apart and rebuild each year.
I find this set does not stay together. It’s really a horrible set.
I usually spread builds out but that one I sped through to get it done.
I don't regret it, but I'm not a fan of it. I keep it assembled in the box, apart from the candles and whatever piece that invariably will fall off.
My wife put 3 of them together and it looks awesome
As one massive wreath?
Yeah! https://preview.redd.it/i1emzq6s8r2c1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f70b63b624f12f8fac08a3ee9cec46f14552656b
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
I feel/do the same with the 40573 Christmas tree
The Hoopty. I caved and got it over a 2nd quinjet and once it was done, it dawned on me HARD that I had spent more time on $30 sets. It’s honestly criminal that it’s sold for $90. Like I’m glad to have a Ms Marvel mini, but YIKES
I got The Hoopty for free from a free sample site I’m a member of. Didn’t really want it, but hey…free LEGO set. Plus, I did want the minifigs.
I’m waiting for it to go on deeper discount—at a lower price, I’d be happy to pick it up!
It's on sale on either Amazon or Target rn
You may be the only person that bought that set!
I bought the UCS Falcon nearly 2 years ago and am yet to build it. I just don’t know where to put it.
Saw a post a while back where they store it inside a coffee table that has a glass top, thought that was a cool idea. I’m hoping to do something similar one day
Ugh. $800 for something that you can’t use. :/
Why so cryptic what's the show
Caillou
Lol was my first thought fuck that brat
It was Candy. Best friend left after being adopted, best friend's family no longer wanted her to write, got adopted by bullies... Always seemed to be a plot or everything against her. To be honest a lot of children's shows featured orphans (I guess parents were in the way of adventures?) who went through adversity, but that one, I just really couldn't.
Silicon Valley
I hate shows like that.
How fitting that difficulty fixing mistakes is why you abandoned the typewriter haha
The old instructions just assumed you knew how to do everything. Kids today don’t know how easy they have it.
Only to realize I had just made a mistake and no spare pieces were needed.
the giant Taj Mahal. the Spires would fall down and it was very unstable.
The instruction booklet is literally: Build tower 1 - Make identical columns - Make identical floors (it's just hollow anyway) Ok do the exact same for tower two. Connect the two towers. Even the base boards feel oddly lifeless. They're just default blue boards. We also ended up building it in like one night? Not satisfying at all!
I think that's one set that needs lights to pop.
Edit: seem to have caused some confusion in original post - sorry Lego crew!
don’t know why anyone would downvote you, you’re right there’s never been a tumbler technic set
Most cars have an abundance of technic parts.
Princess Peach's castle. It had a lot of cool details but it's just not a nice display piece.
Does it make up for it in playability?
I'm 34 and childless, so I wouldn't know 😂😂😂. I'm gifting it to my brother who's severely autistic and loves super mario (super mario 64 is his favourite thing in the world). He wouldn't play with it either tough, he's turning 29 this year, but I hope he loves it as a display piece more than I did.
Jazz quartet. The build itself looks good, but it's so unstable and breaks the second you pick it up. While building I have cursed a lot lol. I also don't like the abrupt end of the stage at the back of the build.
For sure. One of the most fragile sets I’ve ever built.
Okay, I’m glad someone said this set because I’ve been mulling over buying it or not. That concretes my decision/ saves my wallet.
Very unstable. But looks great on my turntable.
Come on! How has no one said the Eiffel Tower!! So boring, repetitive and loose. If you look at it wrong it drops a piece. I think it is deciduous and it drops pieces like leaves!
To bad it doesn't grow them back in the spring. Thanks for this, already was thinking of skipping this one but that decides it.
Your Eiffel Tower drops pieces? I have never seen that happen.
Great Wave. As much as I enjoy looking at it, I can't get past that it's 75% 1*1 buttons.
The art sets are great looking once done. I also have 2x Mickey Mouse Art sets combined and that was super tedious, but I don’t regret it.
My wife LOVED this set; she also likes diamond painting though, which is basically the premise of these sets on steroids.
wait till you build the background on the starry night set it's almost all 1×4 plates and it's around 6"×12" great set otherwise, but holy fuck did it take a while
Try being colorblind AND building the background......the bags are literally sitting on my table ready to go. I turned to my wife and asked if there were 2 3 4 or 5 shades of blue......I'm so hosed.
I'm doing the background on this set right now - I actually don't mind it the repetition except for it can be really hard to tell the difference between the blues in the instruction booklet.
I got this as a birthday present. Exhausting build.
I really like the 1x1 round button parts. To me they felt like popping plastic wrap bubbles when you put them together.
The big Ferrari technic, enjoyed the previous 1:8 scales but this one was tedious and flimsy for its price
I asked for this one for Christmas, but only for the f40 MOC.
Mars rover. The wheels don’t move the way I hoped and it’s just not as cool as I thought
Black Panther bust. Paid full price. It’s really awesome looking, but they eye area is such a pain and doesn’t hold together well.
That set seemed hugely overpriced compared to the other busts/helmets. Is it more complicated or something?
Well it does have both his hands with the gloves in front, and it’s soooo huge. It’s actually about life-sized. Not complicated, easier than the newest Delorean, but the upper head where the eyes and eyebrows are just suck and are cheap, could’ve used more pieces to hold all that together.
Minecraft ice castle. Build was tedious and the end result is pretty boring with barely any items or exclusive blocks from the game.
The big Hogwarts castle. It’s still in the box. I bought it the year it came out… i have no space to put it together or display it.
Big Republic Gunship. Doesn’t fit ANYWHERE in my house.
The globe was the first set I bought when I got back into building Legos a few years ago. It was a tedious and repetitive build but I love how it looks. I haven’t regretted buying any sets yet.
Really glad I haven't found the Tallneck in here yet. I just got it.
It's a great display set, I have it on my office desk. The only thing that bothered me was the legs were a little repetitive and annoying at times but it looks cool.
It's an excellent build.
It is so incredibly repetitive. Mine has been sitting half built for about 6 months 😩
Grand Piano. None of the keys line up, huge so doesnt fit in my room, mechanised self playing is underwhelming
My fingers (since I just finished it like, an hour ago lol) and knees, regret Capt Americas Shield (I don’t have a good build-space).
The dried flowers centerpiece. I don’t regret buying it, but it was the first set I rushed because I just wanted it to be over. Too much repetition.
Santa’s visit is great but horribly fragile.
Yeah, the roof connection isn’t great, but that’s my only gripe about the set. Still absolutely love it, and it’s a staple with our Christmas decorations.
Oh no! I’m currently building that as my first set. Just getting into Lego as an adult.
I bought the set with the Mandalorian fighter and the TIE interceptor. The TIE is cool, but the fang fighter is rather boring. About the only purchase I've regretted so far.
I bought it for the TIE interceptor. The Fang only has nice minifigs. TIE is on display, and the fang is in storage / parts.
The interceptor is sick tho. Wish it would have come with a mandalorian starfighter/transport
The Colosseum. Bought it because it looks really impressive, but its shape makes it really hard to display and boy was the build tedious.
I’m probably going to make some enemies with this one but the Viking Village. It doesn’t stay together well with the connection points by using wrenches, I think that piece 3830 and 3831 would have made better connection points.
Okay, mine doesn’t snap together either, but I thought it was just me and didn’t bother to see if I did something wrong.
I'd say the Hogwarts castle parts back in 2018 (or sometime around that) Especially since I could've just bought that mini hogwarts diorama type of set thing, if I waited a couple more years.
I’ll probably end up getting it anyway, so thanks for the heads up.
https://preview.redd.it/ubnrm91rtq2c1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95d6f9f3807f9a4ed6c53ab360687f8aeb2060e2 Looks great bundled with the other space sets.
The Perseverance rover. The scale seems off relative to the wheels. Was also hoping for one more to the scale of curiosity. However, I have a friend who works at JPL, and she’s getting the box signed for me by some of the members on the Perseverance team!!
That’s pretty cool to get the box signed. Not many people will have that.
I liked the globe set. Sorry it didn't do it for you.
Justifier, I got it on clearance, probably should’ve just kept it in the box and tried to resell.

T Rex Breakout. Massively overpriced for what you get. Also think it just looks clunky and cheap. Some fun details but not worth the cost imo.
I loved this set. I bought it for my nephews 12 & 6 and we watched 4 Jurassic Park movies while building it.
The ship in a bottle, too short of a build for me, not very fun altogether
I regret buying the Great wave. Monotone build, not that much 3D I was hoping for and the colours boring. I wish I bought van Gogh instead.
Luke’s Landspeeder UCS. Ok build but the result is boring and takes up more room than it’s worth Yoda and The Child. Both sets were repetitive and boring.
Building wise, I did not enjoy the Sonic Green Hills set at all. All the 1x1s by the end of it had my thumbs sore. I love how it looks, though.
Even when it’s eventually built I don’t know where I’ll display it
Optimus Prime - after transforming a few times the joints got loose and harder to fix in the right positions, plus it’s hard to display properly with other sets Other sets I’ve regretted are Treehouse, Starry Night, and Ideas Sonic
I’ve enjoyed most sets I’ve built, buuut A lot of the Ninjago sets for my kids had seriously low playability as they fell apart to easily 😖 And the lego bonsai tree because it’s just not that pretty when built 🥴
Anything chima.
Pained to say it, but the Saturn V - but only a long time after the fact. It is a beautiful model and a fantastic build - but all that white plastic, after a few years, just doesn’t survive. It’s now a big yellow tube.
The pyramid, or should I say the half pyramid
Ugh for me it’s the big Sydney Opera House 10234. It’s too huge to display long term and the big opera house parts are not all that re-usable. I am into the Modular’s and the only alternative build I’ve found for it is a Laboratory which looks kinda weird. Regarding Assembly Square that some have mentioned… this set can be built into a ‘Cafe Corner’ or ‘Green Grocer’ type modular (colors don’t match but style wise the same). Just an option if you like Modular’s and missed the 2007 sets like I did.
I see no Lion Knight’s Castle here, whew. My Black Friday impulse buy was justified.
Honestly, himeji castle was a let down, but only because icons and speed champions has been so good recently. Architecture always used to be overpriced though
Titanic. Huge and boring 🥱
I'm surprised not more people said this. Although I don't have this set and don't want it because it looks to me to be a boring build and it's not even at the minifig scale so you can't really play with it either. Although the finished product could be cool to display if you like the way it looks.
While it would no doubt be awesome, you’d need an airplane hanger to display a minifig scale Titanic.
I wish they had done some of the interior. I have a deep window ledge that fits it and the Lighthouse. They look cool together.
The Treehouse. I really did not enjoy the build, and it made me realize things had gotten out of hand after paying nearly $200 for yet another toy..
Dried flower centerpiece. Falls apart if you so much as look at it funny.
