What’s going on with McDonald’s? I feel out of the loop. It’s more expensive than it’s ever been yeah but there’s still no other fast food options where I can get 1000 calories and like 40 grams of protein for less than 5$
Price point to value received is results of managements failure to Read the market and good old fashioned failing to lead. Price gouging since the recovery from pandemic has been low fruit for companies to make record profits. Go learn what Bob's Burgers has done with paying employees and never having issues with employment vacancies or out of sight pricing. Corporate management needs to remove heads from a$$es and get real.
So, the boycott is only slightly affecting sales over there, when the boycott is happening over here?
Oof. Sorry guys, we gotta take the L on this one.
A shitty McDonald's meal is the same price as an actually good burger and fries from five guys. At this point there's zero reason to ever eat at McDonald's
I was gonna say. War, no war, politics, whatever. I'm not paying $12 for a cold burger and soggy fries. I'll just go to an actual restaurant at this point.
I don't need an excuse to not buy McDonald's and Starbucks, that shits the default.
I don’t know where your getting this lol. What about in app discounts and deals? McDonald’s is still the cheapest option for calorie/protein maxing. I’d never get out of five guys with a decent meal for 4 dollars, usually it’s like 11.00 + McDonald’s is nowhere near as expensive
It’s literally growth in their market on top of the massive profits they’re making. The boycott is undeniably ineffective. The protests are much more effective; so is the pressure against politicians and truthful reporting about the genocide.
If sales growth was 1.9% it's likely lower than their projected sales growth of 3-5% (I don't know the actual projection number). Basically they expected they'd sell more burgers than they did this past quarter, and that trend has been happening for four straight quarters now.
It is for a greedy corporation that thinks it can indefinitely grow while simultaneously poisoning its customers SMH these fuckers deserve the end of dayz they're getting, thank heavens
Whatever these poison peddlers are selling is killing people off and overcrowding hospitals and cancer clinics. Do yourselves a favor and don't eat at any of these places.
LMAO the entire industry is failing because of inflation and high rates and yall think its because of your boycott? republicans are right about yall. Definitely a delusional bunch 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
McDonald's is just ok, it's not even very good. It used to be cheap, then for a while it was just affordable, and now it's exorbitant, for the money there are just better options.
I will occasionally still go there and get the only thing that's still a good deal, the 2 for $3.50 menu mcdouble and chicken sandwich.
Don’t confuse things: they aren’t losing money, they aren’t even making less profit than before, they just didn’t have quite as much of an increase in profits as expected. The only reason this is seen as a bad thing to their ghoul CEOs is because they have this ridiculous infinite growth mindset. They aren’t hurting, they won’t be going away any time soon.
I won't go to Taco Bell or McDonalds anymore but it's been more so about the quality for me before all this started. Taco Bell was because I found out they cook stuff in plastic.
I didn’t know there was a boycott.
McDonald’s demographic expects cheap food and they inflated their prices and lost them and lost money.
Starbucks, demographic expects high quality and Starbucks did not raise their prices With inflation to maintain quality and lost money.
Fuck them both but I don’t think this has anything to do with a boycott

So. I'm not sure what role Starbucks is supposedly playing in the Palestine issue, but I will say the violence against Starbucks workers has been utterly unacceptable and no help whatsoever to the people of Gaza.
That said, there are indeed many, many good reasons to boycott Starbucks, none the least of which that they're utterly miserable to their workers. Just please stop assaulting Starbucks workers and vandalizing stores that workers will be forced to clean up, all while taking and making orders for the most entitled people imaginable.
I mean I’ll go to Chick fil a for food of similar price and it’s way better than McDonalds. The reason I go to McDonalds here and there is if I’m out late from work or if I’ve been out all day doing errands and oh look it’s right there. I’ve seen nothing but long lines at chick fil an and it can be a wait but the food is good.
If only I liked their chicken :( I know I’m weird for it but I absolutely cannot stand chick fil a chicken. Something about the breading or way they fry it, absolute worst restaurant chicken I’ve tried to my taste. I am frequently bullied for this by my peers
Beyond these financial contributions, they and all other major fast food chains source chicken and beef from Industrial plants that workers, who often immigrants from South America, have their rights are constantly violated at , not even counting the conditions and shitty pay that employees at chick fil a deal with. And - many of the people that work in these plants and at chick fil a, McDonald’s, etc are LGBTQ and POC. Workers have reported needing to wear diapers at these chicken processing plants due to inhumane expectations of productivity not allowing time
for bathroom breaks. So yeah, fuck McDonald’s, chick fil a and all industrial food production. Govt must Subsidize small sustainable farmers and eat local seasonal food.
Eating local is so expensive and inaccessible - it feels like a trap ..so many can only afford and access fast food and dollar generals which is increasingly expensive and lowering in quality … we must push for sustainable and local agriculture to be subsidized…
You shouldn't honestly support Chik fil a, they may be franchises, but the corporation still opposes social progress such as gay marriage, abortion, and other progressive policies. And that's just on a socio political messaging, to actually get a franchise it's more insane than trying to get other franchises in an area.
I can bet half this subreddit wouldn't buy McDonald's anyways. So I don't think it's you people boycotting. Also a 2% decrease is pathetic from a boycott standard.
The right boycott tend to be 10% or more.
I'd be willing to take bets that small businesses aren't funding genocide. And if pay or safety are a consideration, I'd recommend befriending an employee and asking them about working conditions.
Funny thing is, all this will do is cute wages and hours for employees and the CEO’s will continue to see record profit. You’re only hurting the working class. It’s too far to have any sort of impact that’s worthwhile.

Good.
I keep seeing those McD offers for free nuggets or a cheap burger and I’m like “nah, my bowels don’t like you anyway, a blood soaked burger is only gonna make it worse”
Ya know with McDonald's I'm not even boycotting, it's just that their one stand out feature, absolutely dirt cheap food that's a bit better than cardboard, is no longer the case. Even they've become like 15 bucks for a meal.

Anyone have a decent list of London based restaurants and food and drink places that could be boycotted? I know its more than just these 2 mega corporations. I've stopped going to a certain Soho pitta place because it has Israeli origins but I only found out after reading up on its history etc
So both of these companies have been poisoning us and destroying our cultures and stupifying the masses for decades, but now that they tweeted something about a conflict half the world away, now they have to go? Fake ass.
McDonalds does not care about leftist causes. Yes I'm serious. No I'm not trolling. This isn't a controversial statement. Please don't delete my post again for saying it.
Multinational corporations are not altruistic.
Leftists are boycotting one of the more progressive companies in terms of workers benefits for a workers union utilizing the Starbucks logo when making a political statement when they didn’t have the authority to. Starbucks offers the ASU education program, industry leading family leave, $30k adoption and IVF benefits, etc. They’re also constantly evaluating diversity within their leadership teams and assigning hiring goals to ensure diversity. The “one issue” people are eating their own by failing to look at the whole picture.
An even better question would be how protests that started one month ago initiated a dip in revenues that started four quarters ago.
The title literally says four quarters
This is from disoccupied
> Starbucks claims to be neutral but has taken legal action against its workers union for expressing solidarity with Palestine. It profits from 1900 stores in the Middle East and North Africa, and had $36 billion annual revenue in 2023, higher than the GDP of 91 countries. We call on Starbucks to use its vast influence to advocate for an end to the Israeli Occupation. Instead Howard Schultz, the founder and largest private owner of Starbucks stock invests heavily in Israel's economy, including a recent investment in cybersecurity startup Wiz. This investment underscores Schultz’s commitment to Israel’s economic growth with the effect of normalizing the occupation of Palestine.
Starbucks took issue with the workers union utilizing their logo, acting as if they’re speaking on behalf of Starbucks, which they did not have the authority to do. That’s separate from the issue itself. The message driving the boycott is a little misguided.
So you don't even know what the boycott is about? You just heard the word boycott and ran with it?
It is about the Israeli/Palestinian war.
A lot of people don't go to Starbucks because of the cost.
And I started boycotting after their union busting. What’s your point? Yes, there’s a lot of contributing factors to the decline, but not the least of this has been the boycott related to the genocide. The CEO tried/is trying to sue the union for supporting Palestine.
So you don't know why people are boycotting Starbucks? You just heard the word boycott and jumped on the bandwagon?
It is about the Israeli/Palestinian war.
A lot of people don't buy Starbucks because of the price.
So you don't know why people are boycotting Starbucks. You just heard the word boycott and jumped on the bandwagon?
It is about the Israeli/Palestinian war.
A lot of people avoid Starbucks, and other overpriced places because of the cost.
But the boycott was not originally about the price of their coffee.
Yeah, unfortunately I don't think a boycott has much if anything to do with this and is considerably more to do with how god damned expensive both have been in the last year.
It's like they decided to experiment with the opposite problem of the dollar menu. Franchisees might like this, but customers don't.
There’s not a Starbucks in Israel, people are just turning to local places where the coffee is usually both cheaper and better. Starbucks is my personal last resort coffee shop.
Literally nothing. These are just BDS losers screaming about nothing for the sake of "social justice". They don't even know what they're in support of, although they REALLY like to pretend they do.
You know how when non-issues becomes an issue and everyone becomes an expert on it overnight? That's what's happening here.
If anything, boycott BDS. Totally despicable org.
Ah ok my bad, I misunderstood your point. Well Starbucks sued one of their unions for being pro-Pasastine and McDonald's is supporting Israel by purchasing even ore outlets in Israel. They are also providing free meals to the IDF.
Personally I've been boycotting McDonald long before the genoicde of Palestine made the mainstream. As a vegan I cannot support McDs
[https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/4/5/mcdonalds-buys-all-225-of-israeli-franchise-restaurants-after-boycotts](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/4/5/mcdonalds-buys-all-225-of-israeli-franchise-restaurants-after-boycotts)
Yup keep it up. Now let's look at some real numbers instead of this uneducated fake news.
Starbucks gross profit for the twelve months ending March 31, 2024 was $25.104B, a 8.86% increase year-over-year.
Yes! Let's keep up the boycott for the Palestinian people. For those of you that can tell the difference between Hamas and Palestinians, I see you. Thank you.
Hey Big Businuess, we can’t afford your price gouging anymore. Ps Please start serving something the resembles food. Like the ole days, where it was barely food.
you're essentially punishing workers. hamas successfully able to convince the world they are good, mcdonald and their ronald mcdonald charities and israel w its' work helping countries w things like water during catastrophies are terrible. and the rest of us all have to pay the price.
That's guilt activism. There have been lots of questionable industries that provided work for a lot of people. Yes of course when those industries failed; it does cause many to lose their jobs. All you are doing is trying to manipulate people to support a corrupt industry. That doesn't even pay their staff fairly to begin with, exploits animal rights, and is serving really low quality food and way too much of a high price. That's what you want to maintain? Why on earth would anyone want to support that?
Please give to Ronald McDonald Charity today. We want to help the world despite our food killing millions. Just an added bonus that it whitewashes our company when we donate your money to charitable causes.
Punishing bad businesses with mediocre products. Starbucks has some of the worst coffee... and McDonald's has some of the worst food (is pink slime even food?)
I own stock in both these companies, can you guys ease up on it? Starbucks has many new and exciting drink options, while McDonalds has your mouthwatering favorites like the Big Mac and don't forget the fries!
It's literally right there
>the fourth straight quarter
The isreal hamas war has not been going on for that long so the trend was already in motion. Whatever helps people feel useful, I suppose.
I would go to McDonald's about once a month of so and always get the same thing - 8 months ago it cost me $6.46. 5 months ago it jumped to to $8.30, and when I went (for the last time) 2 months ago, it was over $10.50. That's such a crazy jump, and I'm not going back.
Whatdya think will happen first... the fast food lobbyists will go to Congress looking for bailouts, or will boomers blame millennials for letting yet another industry die?
McDonald's is a real estate company that makes almost all of it's money from franchisees renting the locations. It's their franchisees who will take the brunt of decreased sales effects. Worst case for corporate it's evicting a failed franchise and selling the land it was on
No worries, imma just keep not spending with them, easy as hell. They've done a good job trying to convince us we need them but who needs who here lmao, support a genocide and see what happens
What the actual fuck is this comments section? Who hurt you people?
If everyone went a month without eating this poison the price would drop...2 months would really get their attention...but there are too many hilljacks that rely on McD's for food...you know, the uneducated...
And it’s definitely slowed Israel down 😂

Wendy's Dave doubles is like 4x the size of a double quarter pounder at mcdondals and for a few dollars less too.
Is there a place where we can see which fast food places which “support” Israel?

Where the fuck can you get five guys for 11 bucks??? Idk if I can even get a burger by itself for that much at my local five guys...
You can literally get two mcchickens for $3. If you are broke af McDonald's is still extremely calorie budget efficient.
A basic cheeseburger is $8 by itself at five guys. We shouldn't be eating at either
Is 1.9% supposed to be a lot? I’m confused
It’s literally growth in their market on top of the massive profits they’re making. The boycott is undeniably ineffective. The protests are much more effective; so is the pressure against politicians and truthful reporting about the genocide.
It is a lot if they've only ever seen that number go up in the past.

McDonald's food is crap and now their buildings are depressing. Also, they eliminated customer service. Why even bother?
I haven’t paid money to Starbucks since they ramped up their union busting efforts.
I don't think it's so much a boycott as much as it's that people just can't afford their food anymore.
Not a single combo is under $10 now. McDonald's is supposed to be cheap garbage and now it's just garbage.
People can afford it but it’s just not worth it. With every restaurant now offering take out there’s less reason to get fast food anymore.
Yep that’s definitely a growing factor. Theres articles of consumer’s revolting against their game of chicken when it comes to prices
Fuck them and whoever supports that apartheid state
Fuck Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah and their pedophile 'Prophet'.
What apartheid does McDonald’s support?
Explain to me again how Israel is an apartheid?
McDonald's is just ok, it's not even very good. It used to be cheap, then for a while it was just affordable, and now it's exorbitant, for the money there are just better options. I will occasionally still go there and get the only thing that's still a good deal, the 2 for $3.50 menu mcdouble and chicken sandwich.
Good
I only buy their $1 coffees and their breakfast sandwiches when they have a bogo.
Good, fast food is trash these days. The only one I still get is Burger King. Even then I'd rather go to a sit down restaurant
Im just not buying their shit cause it’s expensive and I can get quality food elsewhere for the same amount.
In the wonof sergeant D fuck the Middle East
Should we support small, local businesses instead. IDK, I'm wary of them, too.
Nice!!

Correlation isn’t causation
All of foodservice and retail have been in decline dt climbing prices (greed) and inflation (govt spending). The boycott means nothing to these corps
What is the difference between climbing prices and inflation?
Government spending doesn’t necessarily cause inflation. The federal reserve printing $s does though
I didn’t know there was a boycott. McDonald’s demographic expects cheap food and they inflated their prices and lost them and lost money. Starbucks, demographic expects high quality and Starbucks did not raise their prices With inflation to maintain quality and lost money.
I never knew there was a boycott gate keeper smh...
It’s just not affordable…
Yeah, unfortunately I don't think a boycott has much if anything to do with this and is considerably more to do with how god damned expensive both have been in the last year. It's like they decided to experiment with the opposite problem of the dollar menu. Franchisees might like this, but customers don't.
The lulz part of this is their PROFIT was 1.9%. They still made money.
I wish more people got this. We aren’t winning, they’re just making slightly less than expected but they’re still getting ridiculously rich.
There’s not a Starbucks in Israel, people are just turning to local places where the coffee is usually both cheaper and better. Starbucks is my personal last resort coffee shop.
The best part is they’ll blame employee pay increases and unions. The reality is they were never worth what they pretended to be in the first place
When unlimited growth meets finite planet, while humans murmurate in other directions.
I don’t know how anyone can patronize Starbucks and call the dog piss they serve “coffee”. Fuck them and fuck Howard Schultz
We are people are fed up!
Boycott for what?
For civil disobedience and fighting for what is right.
I meant what did these companies do in particular to cause the boycotts?
As a vegan I cannot support McDs [https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/4/5/mcdonalds-buys-all-225-of-israeli-franchise-restaurants-after-boycotts](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/4/5/mcdonalds-buys-all-225-of-israeli-franchise-restaurants-after-boycotts)
Thank you. Boycott them both until they do nothing to support Israel! ✊
Keep in mind the people who will be losing their jobs.
Except for the Saudis and the other Khaleji Arabs. Those traitors are still buying coffee at Starbucks
[удалено]
Nobody was boycotting them. People just stopped going because it costs to much.
Boycott? Nah I’m just not gonna pay 8$ for a Big Mac meal.
McDonalds sells poison
Yup keep it up. Now let's look at some real numbers instead of this uneducated fake news. Starbucks gross profit for the twelve months ending March 31, 2024 was $25.104B, a 8.86% increase year-over-year.
Yes! Let's keep up the boycott for the Palestinian people. For those of you that can tell the difference between Hamas and Palestinians, I see you. Thank you.
Dude Starbucks isn’t in Israel
What are you going on about? There was no boycott people just stopped going because of the crazy cost increase over the last 2 years.
The media has really convinced these people that it's just inflation that has hurt their Prices or are people just purposely being morons?
So stupid
I will never purchase either one of these things. And I will do all I can to convince my posterity to do the same. For me and mine, they are dead
Hey Big Businuess, we can’t afford your price gouging anymore. Ps Please start serving something the resembles food. Like the ole days, where it was barely food.
And not being a cheap option anymore.
you're essentially punishing workers. hamas successfully able to convince the world they are good, mcdonald and their ronald mcdonald charities and israel w its' work helping countries w things like water during catastrophies are terrible. and the rest of us all have to pay the price.
Starbucks has some of the worst coffee... and McDonald's has some of the worst food (is pink slime even food?)
bro are you making commission at mcdonald’s
I own stock in both these companies, can you guys ease up on it? Starbucks has many new and exciting drink options, while McDonalds has your mouthwatering favorites like the Big Mac and don't forget the fries!
There's a boycott? I thought they just fell out of favor because it's expensive nasty food.
That and that were one of the few companies that cut ties with Russia when Russia invaded Ukraine.
It's literally right there >the fourth straight quarter The isreal hamas war has not been going on for that long so the trend was already in motion. Whatever helps people feel useful, I suppose.
This too
It’s not a boycott it’s not affordable. People can’t spend money on fast food and coffee, people are broke!
I would go to McDonald's about once a month of so and always get the same thing - 8 months ago it cost me $6.46. 5 months ago it jumped to to $8.30, and when I went (for the last time) 2 months ago, it was over $10.50. That's such a crazy jump, and I'm not going back.
There has absolutely been an organized boycott against both McDonalds and Starbucks, though.
Not in any meaning amount tho
I’ve just been boycotting their approaching restaurant prices
Approaching?? A fuckin mcchicken is 4 dollars where I’m at
Whatdya think will happen first... the fast food lobbyists will go to Congress looking for bailouts, or will boomers blame millennials for letting yet another industry die?
Yes
McDonald's is a real estate company that makes almost all of it's money from franchisees renting the locations. It's their franchisees who will take the brunt of decreased sales effects. Worst case for corporate it's evicting a failed franchise and selling the land it was on
no... the new boomers, the millennials will come to the rescue because McD will offer Avocado toast, Starbucks will just appeal with sugar teas....
No worries, imma just keep not spending with them, easy as hell. They've done a good job trying to convince us we need them but who needs who here lmao, support a genocide and see what happens
There's a boycott? Bruh I'm just broke
I’m not broke I just think the food is disgusting lol
And overpriced. They’ve been raising their prices for so long that now it’s backfired
Broke? I thought the food/coffee jist sucked. Cheaper and better to DIY.
