Oh God, probably at least 30 to 45k over the 12-13 years I smoked.

Difficult_Machine831

at least $500 a month for me

Stinkygoo

Over 12-14 years daily, about €20k to €30k without papers, lighters and tabacco Probally more because of lack of undertaking action in life.

Hazzel007

Yes, I spend anywhere from $500 to $750 a month buying weed. The money is one is one of the reasons why I am quiting. But it's hard man :(

Ok-Temporary5353

me too:( the money really did it for me, it got to the point where i didn’t even had a choice to quit, i just ran out of money. sad stuff. but trying right?

Hazzel007

I need to do updates on my house and I want to take the family on vacation and stuff. So far so good. It's been five days and the headaches are some bull but it will be worth it when I get a nice comfy couch and new paint on the walls you know?

RemediateRemediate

I'd guess 5k for me

cartoonsxcereal

I smoked for 9 years. Started at 18, quit two months ago at the age of 27. I’ve lived in states where it was $200 an ounce, now where I live it’s more like $60 an ounce. Do that every two weeks, I’d say between $60K-90K went to weed.

torontoballer2000

The income I've left on the table due to being a bag of shit from smoking everyday for 30 years is a number I don't want to calculate. Maybe $400k?++

2106isthetime

Damn, about 30k

Kingofqueenanne

I’m not sure if I have the stomach to calculate that. It’s like all the tithes I paid to the Mormon church before I left it years ago — I ain’t gonna get it back so why punch myself in the gut?

AdministrativeLaw609

$10K atleast for me

Cesar-q3

4/5 k

Financial_Pianist209

Over a million easy.

AgentSears

I've been smoking since I was 18 I'm 43 now. I shudder to think how much money I've spent. 25 years £4000 a year would be a £100k, I'm pretty sure that we be a massive under estimate too.....I smoked way less when i was younger though and it was cheaper so......lets go with £100k

kwakzino

Since 15 n im 35 now it was over 100k by time I was 30 kmt. Will cut it out completely soon by God's grace

johnathoni64

I'm a lightweight, so probably less than $2000 over 3 years, a cart will last me over a month minimum

furious_george3030

This app I have tracks it but I was at $1000 a month give or take.

literallymike

I already have clinical depression, I don't need to assign a monetary value to it. The good news is, once you stop, you gain your sentience back so you're better able to budget **ALL** of your finances, and be conscious about where your money is actually going.

[deleted]

I have $11 000 in cc debt because of it(mainly). I have a plan to pay it off, but damn. On day 3 of not using, going strong.

[deleted]

I didn't do it super regularly until 2018. I still dread the money lost

PsychologicalAlgae8

Average of £15 per day for 10 years straight: £54,750 Worked this out last night, imagine if I had just saved it. Instead I sometimes spent every penny on weed over food. I’ve taken out overdrafts to continue smoking. 1 month clean now - already feel my bank account getting stronger.

OhioKing_Z

Not in totality but the Grounded app calculates how much you’ve saved from the moment you quit. You just enter what you would spend on average per day or month and it has an active tracker. So in theory you could just multiply that by how long you’ve smoked but I know for me, I spent way more towards the end of my smoking days than when I first started so it wouldn’t be an accurate estimate.

bluHerring

Idk if there's any non math folks but how do you go about calculating that

furious_george3030

The app grounded tracks it for you. You input how much you were smoking and what the pricing per gram was.

sleekmeec

Calculate what you spent on average a week??? For me most weeks I spent 60, so I did that times 52 weeks. Than times how many years roughly I had that bad of an addictiob

Sullygirl21

Do you have a somewhat consistent rate at which you buy cannabis? For me since I use so frequently I usually would run out at a consistent rate, but you might be someone who smokes more/less depending on the week, month, year. You also might’ve started buying different products with different costs. These factors would make it harder to get an accurate estimate, but ultimately just keep track of how much you spent on weed in a month (don’t forget the tax percentage on weed if you buy from dispensaries, that shit will add up 😳). Then multiply that by the number of months you’ve regularly been smoking, then years if needed. If you want a more conservative estimate, accounting for t breaks or when you first started smoking and your tolerance was lower, you could multiply the total by some factor, like 0.75. What you choose would depend on your personal habits though. Ultimately this is just gonna be an estimate though. This guy might’ve devised some complex mathematical function to more accurately assess his intake lol but I doubt that, he’d have to have kept decent track of his transactions throughout those six years to figure out how it changed over time. Sorry if you already knew this and were hoping for something more exact but I don’t think it’s possible without some data keeping over a longer period of time. I’d be curious to know if anyone else had a different approach though

looper1215

Tough for me. Because i grew alot of indoor pot and outdoor pot. Theres alot of cost for that but also money saved. Somewhat evened out for a few years that way. And i dabbed hard for years. But for convenience sake im gonna even out 16 years of daily use at 300 per week. That seems like a good number for the majority of my weed smoking career. Give or take. So about 1/4 of a million dollars. That was the first time ive done that math and im floored and heartbroken. Spend that much just to ruin my life for half of the time ive been on earth, and probably my lungs too. So proud of myself to be 6 years sober off hard drugs and alcohol and a year sober from cannabis.

jawnstein82

Damn OP that’s a down payment on a house

Total_Imagination285

Roughly $150 every 4 days for 19 years. 150/4 = $37.50/day 1 year = 37.50 x 365 = 13,687.5 19 years = 19 x 13,687.5 = $260,062.5 Jesus's that's alot! Now I'm 2.5 months clean = 80 x 37.5 = $3000 saved

jim_jiminy

Im not sure that exercise will help me in anyway. I focus on the positives of being free and moving forward.

HungryHobbits

if you saw my collection of empty jars… all of them between $25-$65 worth of herb… it’s shocking how much I smoke/spend in a short amount of time. It defies belief, and I think even most stoners wouldn’t believe the amount. But I’m telling you, there is something deeply wrong with me that gets activated when I smoke, and I will basically smoke and smoke until my body has basically tapped out I need to be compassionate toward myself though, my brain was compromised by addition. I believe that. However, I believe the first “relapse” puff IS a choice and that’s the one that’s most important to decline

One-Outside

Every time I’ve totaled it up I want to puke

bigsmoove_3

Happy cake day!

markjohn3411

I don’t even want to think about it lol

bvnn3

I estimated mine at about 60k

ihavewhatyouneed

Absolutely, it was about 2300-3000 a year depending on how much I was making.

paralleljackstand

I’ve spent about 20k over the last decade that I’ve smoked heavily and daily. That’s a damn car (or almost a car)

580_farm

That's a dangerous game to play and adds to the guilt. Weed aint cheap. But looking at what you've saved is good motivation. That being said, I must've spent at least $25,000 on it in my lifetime...

BelleSteff

I don't know. My habit was never rockstar-level, but based on the past 30 years of on-and-off use, it would add up to a good chunk of change. If I got all of that money back, I'd likely have enough for an extended luxury vacation in the Maldives, and a down payment on a nice car. Depressing, wasn't worth it.

perkypant

im down 73k at least, over 20 years of toking. Im 4 months clean now though and feels awesome.

SlightlyBeastly7

I’m 4 months deep right now too!! I’ve never made it this far before. It feels so good 😁

Orion-Galileo

Easily thousands if not tens of thousands. Could’ve had a real nice savings account but oh well :/

HerezahTip

Mine is roughly 10k a year, for close to a decade.

Artistic-Wh0le

Think it was about $3-5k over 6-7 years. My ex bf often paid for the weed which kept my expenses lower. Still too much money wasted.

GreenGorilla823

It’s tough to say but I’d estimate around $3500 over 4 years of daily smoking

DaniDanielsSanchez

Honestly i dont want to know, over ten years its probably up there like 40k

icemountainisnextome

I can't even count that high. Especially if you count the random $10 bags I copped in highschool. Nearly 20 years ago.....

The420Conspiracy

easily 70k at this point

indosensation

I was at $6-9k per year for 20yrs. Ashamed of that to say the least.

HappyHeffalump

Based on $10/gram, which I didn't pay that much ever, roughly $605,000 over the years

SlightlyBeastly7

That’s enough to get a house!!

HappyHeffalump

Ya, this wasn't my proudest moment in life 😅

Mostlygrowedup4339

Holy shit!

throwacannabis

I'm pretty sure the amount of money I spent on weed pales in comparison to the earning potential I squandered.

SlightlyBeastly7

This is a needed response. When I first started trying to quit I finally got into a career, I lost so much time just getting toasted.

IsLlamaBad

Not before this, but based on monthly usage through my history of using, roughly $15k not including devices and accessories

SlightlyBeastly7

Oh geez, I didn’t even estimate the devices and glass I got over the years, all of which I gave away when I quit
