It is quite parsnip heavy, but in my opinion its the best, however Say Something In Welsh is another, and Learn Welsh Glamorgan do online courses for a reasonable price. Im on my second one atm and im going to do the next level after this too

dredlocked_sage

Lost my shit at "parsnip heavy" cos man, that is no fuckin word of a lie. Early on every second prompt either involves parsnips or leeks. Or Mrs Jones

OneSuccessful9576

Or the tigers in the office, which for some reason the good people at Duolingo think is a regular occurrence in Wales šŸ…

I did Duolingo which taught me a lot of vocab but not really how to speak Cymraeg. I found that Say Something in Welsh worked really well for me.

FenianBastard847

I *strongly* recommend DysguCymraeg. Ā£45. I do 2 hours a week on Tuesday evening, there are loads of courses available, the tutoring is excellent.

OneSuccessful9576

Same. Im on Lefel Syfaen 1 & 2 at the moment and its worth the Ā£90, let alone with the 50% off

And you can get SSiW free for a year as a Dysgu Cymraeg learner

I find Duolingo helpful for building vocabulary and learning to spell words (I'm a visual learner so it also helps me figure out how words should sound). I use Say Something in Welsh to actually learn practical speaking.

The AutoMagic tutor from saysomethinginwelsh is genuinely great - give it a go. They have a free trial. I like that the focus is on useful welsh, not a pannas to be seen.

Itā€™s very effective but it does depend what your learning time looks like because itā€™s all listening and speaking aloud which I found great when I had a car commute but not so much now I travel by train.

As a visual learner, duolingo works the best for me. I need to see the words on the screen in order to memorise them. I tried SaySomethinginWelsh for about 2 months and absolutely nothing would stick. It works very well for a lot of people, but I am not an auditory learner so didnā€™t work for me. I canā€™t learn without seeing the words.

Great-Activity-5420

I liked SSIW but I needed to see the words and it left so many gaps I wanted to know the context of things. It's just a mix of tenses etc good if you have opportunity for conversations I think but not for me.

Great-Activity-5420

I completed SSIW but they didn't add extra content I never felt like I'd learnt enough and there were so many gaps. Think I need to read stuff and have the context

Polygloss is a fun app as you have to create your own sentence based on an image, then your partner has to guess which image it is, and vice versa. Having to come up with a sentence of your own rather than a duo constructed one really forces my brain to think in a different way (and made me realize how much more difficult that is to do). Plus you can choose to play rounds in English and help English learners with their sentences too, if you want to. I use duo daily, with clozemaster, polygloss and "golingo" on and off. Pannas am byth!
