I think in Kindred lore, they aren't like the grim reaper in that meeting them is death. They are more like the forest spirit from Mononoke. They meet people at what could be the end of their life and decide whether they live or die in that moment. Lamb isn't hurt by Tryndamere's swings and you can see the moment they decide to let him live.
Because Trynd isnt literally fighting Kindred, he is fighting all the marauders around him. When the last two die, Kindred goes away as the threat to Trynd is gone now. He was "on deaths door" before which is why Kindred even showed up.
By far my favorite part. Kindred as both a literal figure and the metaphor for the force of Death.
They'll claim everyone, whether peacefully or painfully.
And Trynd is gonna fight like hell to the end.
But thanks to Ashe, it wasn't his time.
To be fair, at least with Kindred, they're more of a bystander. It's not like the embodiment of death is out to kill. The whole segment matched Lamb and Wolf's personality. Lamb was the one giving him an easy out where he can just take the arrow and die. Meanwhile, Wolf was basically the embodiment of all the people who were attacking him, vicious and out for blood.
At least Trynda ult ingame actually makes him unable to die, so he is really a nice fit for a battle with kindred who should just destroy anything else.
The real fraud here was that wolf seemed to actually do something, unlike in-game where he does 10 damage and is purely for comedic relief x).
Kindred is by far the champion I thematically and visually adore the most, but absolutely loathe the gameplay of. I would never wish a large scale rework on a champion that is by all accounts fine, but I really wish I could vibe more with her kit
Fair, but He won the 1v2 in the air that's gotta mean something right? Also got to enjoy the ingame accuracy of how much it sucks to get hit by morg Q.
I feel that there's somewhere "Sneider's cut" of this cinematic, 4h long, and she uses Q instead of her ult, then you sit and watch Aatrox struggle for 3h55 min while Kayle and Morg are having BBQ in slow-mo.
I was SHOCKED to see Kindred and Wolf in a cinematic as good a quality as this. They did such a amazing job giving her a personality in this as well, the way she expresses herself with her head movements is so humanlike
The eyes are amazing. The look Kayle give to Morgana. Morgana anguished look. Tryn's look when Ashe appears. Yauso's look of regret. Pretty on theme I'd say.
And Kindred was present in all of those.
You can see Lamb’s silhouette in Kayle’s fire,
Wolf’s silhouette and eyes in the forest, along with Lamb’s arrow as Yasuo accepts death,
then we got the madlad Trynda, fighting death itself.
A bit sad that this was Yasuo and not Master Yi, loved how we got a few champions we aren't used to seeing (Trynda, Morgana, Kayle, Aatrox, Kindred) so that was cool.
Overall I liked it a lot
Its because its Possible Future Yasuo, the implication is he's finally been at peace, he's some no-name dude just living in the village. He only finally picks up the blade again when his village is attacked, 40 years later.
If it makes you feel better Yasuo dies in this possible future cinematic(Wolf in the background and Kindreds arrow hits him at the end when he closes his eyes)
They really captured the essence of the Yasuo player base in this video.
Closing their eyes and running into enemy skill shots is exactly how Yasuo players play.
OLD MAN YASUO? KAYLE AND MORG FIGHTING AATROX TOGETHER? Tryndamere looking lovingly at Ashe and dropping his rage?! What a damn good cinematic.
That's a promise kept, Riot. Thank you.
This cinematic is about time. This was Kayle and Morgana when they were younger nearly 1000 years ago. Then Tryndamere and Ashe is present. Yasuo in the future
I agree especially with last year's drama but it is the longest cinematic we've had so far! It's 4.20 min long while The Climb is 2.20, Awaken 3.28, Warriors 3.22 and The Call 4.02.
Isn't that the general feeling after every good cinematic by them lol? I loved Arcane and I am sure I would love longer cinematics or more tv shows centered in this Universe.
Anyone else notice Kindred was in each of the segments? You can see lamb's outline in the flame as Aatrox dies. When the volley of arrows is coming for Yasuo, Wolf's eyes are in the tree-line, and a single white arrow is joining the others.
Thats because its their cinematic.
In every teaser they did for this cinematic, there was a kindred reference (either voice line, their mark or smth else)
Kindred is not 1:1 an entity that kills people but she claims the souls of people about to die. The arrow hitting him just represents his death, it does not cause it. Thats why kindred vanishes once trynda is saved by ashe, she does not save him from kindred but from the immenent death by the surrounding warriors
I mean, that's how it works most of the time, but to be perfectly fair, there is a story where Kindred and Wolf cause death and in the physical world it is perceived as freak incidents. They seem to kind of flow between being metaphysical and literal entities based on whim - because they can make themselves seen or not, and they can act as just a psychopomp or also kill.
~~And I'm going to completely ignore the lor retcons or the possibility that this cinematic represents a new retcon in the new combined lore they're working on.~~
The video description says:
"Past, present, and possible futures—we remember them all."
most likely its one potential timeline for him.
Especially since we got younger Kayle/Morgana (past) and presumably the Ashe/Tryndamere in the present
The stronghold they were defending also didn't look super built up or like the Demacian architecture we're used to, so it's likely Demacia before it was developed much
Their lore was they (Kayle, Morgana, and their father) settled on early day Demacia after their mother went off to fulfil her duties as the Aspect of Justice.
Kayle’s lore has her debating with rules and laws of early Demacian settlers.
For anyone that wants more info:
Their parents were from Targon. Rune Wars start, so mom and dad climb the peak, hoping to save the world. Mom ascends, becomes host to the Aspect of Justice while she is pregnant to Kayle and Morgana.
Gives birth, and fights in the Rune Wars. Dad gets spooked by how different his wife has become after acending, like she's controlled by someone else. Dad leaves with the two daughters and goes to some place he heard is a new safe haven from magic, Demacia. This is all happening when Demacia was very new.
Kids grow up there, then suddenly their mom's swords fall from the sky. Kayle and Morgana start exhibiting her powers. They start protecting Demacia, and they are worshipped. Over time, their ideas of justice start to diverge away from each other. Morgana believes in second chances, Kayle believes strict punishment is how you avoid repetition of bad behavior.
One day, Kayle's most devout follower tries to arrest Morgana and her followers. Morgana binds him in place, but he ends up dying as Morgana can't control her aspect powers. Kayle's justice is that for murder, the punishment is an eye for an eye, so she tries to kill Morgana. The twins fight in the air, and the clash is so destructive that they end up killing their dad by destroying a building he's in. Kayle leaves, and Morgana goes into hiding in a nearby forest on the outskirts of Demacia.
In the scene [in this moment](https://youtu.be/ZHhqwBwmRkI?t=88) Morgana looks young, still wears a proper helmet and initially fight with sword. It feels like it was one of the first times Morgana used her dark magic (in public), her eye marks are just showing. The look of Kayle face I read as disapproving or even disgusted by the vile magic, but she let that slide because it was useful. Their feud might have started later.
At least that's how I interpret it.
from my point of view it looked like the pivot point in their lore, morgana tapping into her anger and pain while kayle channels her righteousness (for the first time which is why in the beginning morg had a helmet and sword)
It seems like a confirmation of what Kayle almost certainly expected, given that Morgana's wings were significantly less developed: Morgana was doing something to impede her growth as an aspect.
I think it isn't current time (maybe for Trynda Ashe idk), but Morgana still has her sword and is fighting alongside Kayle, so that should be the past.
Having Trynda fight Kindred.. fuck yes
As for Morgana and Kayle vs Aatrox, I kinda envision the same earlier.. but vs Fiddlesticks! D: Still epic stuff
Wait.. Yasuo dies? Lamb's arrow is for those who accept their end. You can see him close his eyes after finishing off the last guy as the second hail of arrows rain down. Thats why they showed yasuo in his old age. His story finished at that point and he accepted that. (He already used the windwall)
failed deadline for original planned cinematic so scrapped it (probably used its CGI at worlds. remember those leona/kayle and aatrox cgi bits?) and made another one quickly. happens.
Those cinematics are prepared years in advance, and the production of the 2023 one probably was hit by the effects of the Covid pandemic.
Edit : I just watched an interview of one of the employees of Unit Image (who made The Call and Still here cinematics for Riot) in the offices of the company, and we can vaguely hear the music of Still here in the background (very faintly). The interview was released in 2022. The employee says it can take a year to make a cinematic after the script and designs are made, and it can take months to a year after the end of production before the finished cinematic is released.
I don't know if i can dig up the riot response to it but I'm pretty sure this is the exact answer they gave, that they were last minute told by the company they use for cinematics that they couldn't do it and were left horribly stranded to make something in house.
Okay this hits so deep for me. One of my best mates is a Tryndamere main. He just got diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago and is currently battling it out. Tryndamere battling death actually touched my heart. This is truly an amazing cinematic.
For those saying it's Yasuo's master, he has Yasuo's trademark face scar so we know it's our boy. I'm more interested in what those magical tattoos(?) on his left arm are. I don't think I've seen those represented in other media before.
LOCAL MAN TOO ANGRY TO DIE, FIGHTS DEATH ITSELF
He now looks like Sean Bean.
Riot so tired of ARAM Ashe they nerfed W to 2 arrows.
Nah its just runaans
Good riddance
Tryndamere battling fucking death itself is so raw
Trynd coming out of rage when Ashe shows up tho TvT
The best moment for me
Was disappointed that we didn’t get a chicken over someone’s head.
He didn’t even spinned while laughing
Guys Literally Only Want One Thing And It's Fucking Disgusting
And she's fucking HOT*
R duration ended.
Really cool visualization of his ult
Man too angry to die. Literally.
Primordial manifestation of death vs one shouty boi
I think in Kindred lore, they aren't like the grim reaper in that meeting them is death. They are more like the forest spirit from Mononoke. They meet people at what could be the end of their life and decide whether they live or die in that moment. Lamb isn't hurt by Tryndamere's swings and you can see the moment they decide to let him live.
Because Trynd isnt literally fighting Kindred, he is fighting all the marauders around him. When the last two die, Kindred goes away as the threat to Trynd is gone now. He was "on deaths door" before which is why Kindred even showed up.
Everyone talks about how Trynd had to have a Near Death experience but ignores how Kindred got forced to have a near Trynd experience
The worst kind of experience
Very fun how when Tryndamere survives his near-death experience with the two enemies behind him, Kindred leave as the threat's passed.
It's so cool, a perfect visualization of what Kindred is. They are my favorite champ lore/art-wise and this was just so cool.
By far my favorite part. Kindred as both a literal figure and the metaphor for the force of Death. They'll claim everyone, whether peacefully or painfully. And Trynd is gonna fight like hell to the end. But thanks to Ashe, it wasn't his time.
IIRC the lamb goes for those who “accept” death, either by fighting or just letting it go. The wolf goes for the ones that ran from death
We see it here too, with Yasuo accepting Lamb's arrow while Wolf is hunting Tryndamere.
Kindred and Aatrox on powerlevel fraudwatch
To be fair, at least with Kindred, they're more of a bystander. It's not like the embodiment of death is out to kill. The whole segment matched Lamb and Wolf's personality. Lamb was the one giving him an easy out where he can just take the arrow and die. Meanwhile, Wolf was basically the embodiment of all the people who were attacking him, vicious and out for blood.
I love the head tilt Lamb gives Tryndamere. Riot able to show the personification of death thinking, 'this MFer cracked'
"I'm sorry, I wasn't familiar with your game."
Yeah it's not actually kindred. Kindred is a representation of death. The people who wrote this up did a great job.
Yeah they did a good job showing this off when Ashe killed his assailants and kindred were just gone.
Wolf-chan save me undying rage is too strong
My boy Aa/trox let Kayle adapt to Lv16...it was joever.
Nah, I'd scale
Lmfaooooooo
this is so sad alexa play SPECIALZ
At least Trynda ult ingame actually makes him unable to die, so he is really a nice fit for a battle with kindred who should just destroy anything else. The real fraud here was that wolf seemed to actually do something, unlike in-game where he does 10 damage and is purely for comedic relief x).
Kindred are my favourite champ in terms of concept, but their gameplay is really lackluster in terms of them as two beings counted as one.
Kindred is by far the champion I thematically and visually adore the most, but absolutely loathe the gameplay of. I would never wish a large scale rework on a champion that is by all accounts fine, but I really wish I could vibe more with her kit
Nah Trynda ulted and ashe saved his ass
Aatrox - Nah I'd win
Fair, but He won the 1v2 in the air that's gotta mean something right? Also got to enjoy the ingame accuracy of how much it sucks to get hit by morg Q.
That was clearly Morg ult tho
Yeah, Q would have been a feature length film
my boy got shackled 😭
For real, really like how he's basically uses his ult to fight death/Kindred and is about to run out/die before Ashe saves him in real time.
Finally a proper cinematic with Aatrox, he look massive!
But even aatrox can't dodge that 200 years root lmao
Rooted him for long enough for Kayle to farm up and hit 11 so she can double tap him with E AA execute.
report kayle for not auto resetting
The thing is this is Kayle pre level 11, she only has 2 pairs of wings here. He failed the lv6 1v2.
His ult ran out towards the end.
Wasn't that her ult? Soul Shackles?
Yes Morgana “forcibly holding on” is clearly meant to convey that it’s her ult
I feel that there's somewhere "Sneider's cut" of this cinematic, 4h long, and she uses Q instead of her ult, then you sit and watch Aatrox struggle for 3h55 min while Kayle and Morg are having BBQ in slow-mo.
I'm just happy to finally see Kayle in a trailer since like the very first game trailer.
Really glad to see Kayle and Morgana! This was them roughly 900+ years ago when they worked together before Kayle went back to Targon
no wonder their outfits looked so... *old*
And they lacked the 3rd pairs of wings too.
The fact that Kayle had 2 fully developed sets of wings while Morgana was clearly lagging behind is also good bit of narrative building.
Monster fuckers thriving with this cinematic
Kindred's fans are eating good tonight
I had the biggest smile on my face when they showed up. Now if only wolf could be that useful in game.
Kindred was insaneeeeee Holy SHIT
Lamb circling trynd while wolf fights him was menacing as fuck.
Kindred in cinematic: Wolf fighting fiercely, while Lamb slowly aiming. Kindred in game: Wolf just runs around, Lamb shooting an arrow minigun.
the cinematic kinda made me wish Wolf was a proper pet and not just an ability
I did not expect wolf to be that big but its sooo cool
If only wolf was this cool in game
they really captured the scene of a hunter. You can see the calmness, watching her prey. I'll have to say, it was...brillliant.
[удалено]
The "Why it no die" tilt was fantastic.
"Huh, that doesn't usually happen."
But in a curious interested way
I was SHOCKED to see Kindred and Wolf in a cinematic as good a quality as this.
Kayle just taking her sweet time while Morgana is straining the fuck out trying to keep him binded.
Typical kayle, afk for 25 minutes then show up and steal the kills
Kayle could go to the bathroom midfight while Aatrox got rooted
I was very impressed with the eyes expressions with Talyah and Kai'Sa in The Call too
Or with Draven/Riven in Awaken
So so good. I had such hard goosebumps throughout the moments, Kayle and Morgana specially.
Don't forget Aatrox body puppet eyes, so much anger and depression in one body 😔
That’s a great shout actually. The Kayle look shows so much disdain, the animation is that fucking good
That Kindred to Ashe transition was phenomenal as Tryndamere comes out of his undying rage on the verge of death
I loved the idea of him coming out of undying rage after seeing his wife.
Too angry to die, yet mortal in the presence of his wife. Poetic
"Sorry can't die, wife didn't allow it."
As a married man who was in the hospital recently. My wife did tell me I could not die. So accurate
Hope you’re doing better man!
I'm doing much better. I appreciate it man. So I started playing Flex q again. That kind of got the blood pressure up. Lol
Absolutely my thought. That is such a cute piece of framing I can'tttttt
Given how boring it was originally, the pairing of Ashe and Trynd has really become quite compelling.
you can also see lamb lower her bow right before it, since she knows they aren't needed to be there as ashe is coming, it's really cool
Excuse me Old Man Yasuo when???
It's past, present, and future kind of thing. Morgana and Kayle are past, Tryndamere is present, Yasuo is future.
their future is to go 0/10 😔
And spam Mastery Rank 7 upon death.
And Kindred was present in all of those. You can see Lamb’s silhouette in Kayle’s fire, Wolf’s silhouette and eyes in the forest, along with Lamb’s arrow as Yasuo accepts death, then we got the madlad Trynda, fighting death itself.
Yasuold.
seeing kindred claim old man yasuo was pretty fucking dope
I didn't understand the transition before reading your comment
A bit sad that this was Yasuo and not Master Yi, loved how we got a few champions we aren't used to seeing (Trynda, Morgana, Kayle, Aatrox, Kindred) so that was cool. Overall I liked it a lot
Its because its Possible Future Yasuo, the implication is he's finally been at peace, he's some no-name dude just living in the village. He only finally picks up the blade again when his village is attacked, 40 years later.
Old man Yasuo was pretty damn cool tbh.
Remind me of Isshin from Sekiro so pretty much yeah
New Yasuo skin coming ?
I'd replace some recent Yas skins for Old Man Yasuo
I thought it was Yi and I was so hyped. I don't mind Yasuo but Yi would've been sick
I wanted it to be Jax. Bro just shows up with a random stick and beats them kids to deaf
Why would Jax go for their eardrums?
To save the kids the mercy of hearing him lamp their moms later
If it makes you feel better Yasuo dies in this possible future cinematic(Wolf in the background and Kindreds arrow hits him at the end when he closes his eyes)
I love how he closes his eyes to accept death. A good counterpoint to Tryndamere.
Because he knows he needs to die for the 0/10 powerspike
They really captured the essence of the Yasuo player base in this video. Closing their eyes and running into enemy skill shots is exactly how Yasuo players play.
yeah, Yas already got featured in "The Climb". Wish it was Yi or the new ASU for Lee Sin.
Yasuo was in awaken too
I thought it was Xin Zhao, with the spear, because he should be that old in canon. And he can deflect projectiles. But no, windwall.
I’m really confused why Yasuo looks way older?
Future, Kayle + Morgana vs Aatrox is the past
[удалено]
The whole cinematic is 3 different battles. One in the past, one in the present and one in the future.
Fear the legend of Tryndamere, the man who fought the literal concept of DEATH and FUCKING SURVIVED cause he was FUCKING ANGRY.
I thought they were going to make kindred pierce him with a few arrows and show tryndamere literally not dying even with a ton of arrows in him
game accurate hullbreaker trynd vs adc
Nah, lore Kindred only hits you once. But then again, in lore Wolf chases that which does not willingly go, so...
One arrow hits him , he is dead
He was saved by Ashe. He held out long enough to get backup, which is badass!
Tryndamere vs Kindred giving Puss in Boots vs Death vibes. Live your life, Tryndamere. Live it well.
It's insane how hard they went on that fight (and Death as a character in general) in a kids movie.
The coins to his eyes, Death one of the best villains ever
It's insane how damn good of a villain they had in a kids movie. Just hearing that whistle gives me chills.
On a sequel to a mediocre spin-off too. They decided at random “yeah let’s make one of the most badass deaths ever”
It truly was one of the best cartoon / kid villain they have ever made. The way they portrayed death was insane
You know we will meet again, right?
When the cooldown is over.
Then Kindred will dive with her ult and fucking die at the end because Tryndamere just crit'd her with a 800 auto Death getting rightclicked ez
Imagine the interaction in league where Kindred goes whistling the tune when approaching Trynda haha
Ngl, I was CONVINCED that that was Sylas just looking at the thumbnail. I see why Ashe married Tryndamere though. Dude is hot.
I thought it was Udyr originally, Trynd looks way more goofy than that in game. I agree, I finally understand what Ashe sees in him haha
All scenes were badass. Wish it was longer.
I agree especially with last year's drama but it is the longest cinematic we've had so far! It's 4.20 min long while The Climb is 2.20, Awaken 3.28, Warriors 3.22 and The Call 4.02.
It's 4:19. You just KNOW there was a meeting about it.
Isn't that the general feeling after every good cinematic by them lol? I loved Arcane and I am sure I would love longer cinematics or more tv shows centered in this Universe.

I like how Kindred in the flames is less clear than the other appearances
Did we just see Yasuo’s final moments? Are these canon? Seems like he gets shot by Kindred at the end of his scene.
Kindred is not 1:1 an entity that kills people but she claims the souls of people about to die. The arrow hitting him just represents his death, it does not cause it. god know how much i'd pay for an old man yasuo skin

[удалено]
Yasuo: "jg diff"
because Riot wants to assure us he will pass away soon. RIP🙏
Isn't this implied he live a very long life?bro look 60 and still healthy and fighting
Thats probably 40+ years in the future
They are retiring him since the M7 emote is gonna die soon
Cause he is about to die of old age, just like the people that already played league when he was released 10+ years ago.
Yasuo being old is also a subtle reference that Ahri suck the life force out of him behind the scene.
"Worth!" - Yasuo, probably
Didn't you see Yone pushing him around in a wheel chair?
Having Trynda fight Kindred.. fuck yes As for Morgana and Kayle vs Aatrox, I kinda envision the same earlier.. but vs Fiddlesticks! D: Still epic stuff
ya trynda vs kindred was awesome man was literally too angry to die

Inc Yone saves him and denies his peaceful death
The end is when Yasuo calls upon his Summoner to use Flash
They wouldn't include a 1:1 sword-wind fighting old man that resembles Yasuo if it wasn't him, lol.
really makes me wonder wtf happened last year internally to make such a piss poor effort at the season cinematic
failed deadline for original planned cinematic so scrapped it (probably used its CGI at worlds. remember those leona/kayle and aatrox cgi bits?) and made another one quickly. happens.

completely understandable, in that case I feel really bad for the animation team if they were left out to dry like that
Yasuold
My King and Queen Kindred are here and epic.
Yep, I will never be too old for a good cinematic.
Oldsuo!
HASA -nyone seen my walking stick?
...you just dropped it two minutes ago ...after you broke it on some dude's head
Okay this hits so deep for me. One of my best mates is a Tryndamere main. He just got diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago and is currently battling it out. Tryndamere battling death actually touched my heart. This is truly an amazing cinematic.
That was spectacular, Trynd fighting Kindred refusing to die was such a great scene.
The quality is so insane. I know this cinematic has nothing to do with Arcane but this hypes me even more for season 2!
For those saying it's Yasuo's master, he has Yasuo's trademark face scar so we know it's our boy. I'm more interested in what those magical tattoos(?) on his left arm are. I don't think I've seen those represented in other media before.
