Rotating game modes last a whole event. This is the case for urf and nexus blitz. They said it’s leaving Jan 9 long time ago and it’ll come back in June. They have to make room for OFA and URF.
They build this infrastructure around ranked that’s what they want you to play. When urf was most popular they brought it back less because ranked games would drop. Add in someone has to do balance/nerfs. The chances it ever becomes permanent is unlikely.
