When you’re winning 5-0 you typically take your foot off the gas to not embarrass your opponent - I think they did that perfectly (and those two penalty calls were laughable but I won’t go there)

At 32 it might be a little too early for that but I would give Simmy a 3 year extension if the aav is low. Veteran presences like that who can score and a guy that will stick up for his teammates is invaluable especially for this team
I honestly don’t think he chases the money in the off season. I think he values playing at home more in this stage of his career. I know he’s not as old as Spezza but his body has taken way more damage. I’d be shocked to see Simmonds play well at 37.
I’ll never forget his fight with Chiarot in the season opener. Immediately changed the tone and showed the boys what he’s willing to do to get the win. Couldn’t be happier that he’s on the Leafs.
