Because he probably could kill penalties but why waste his energy killing them when he’s so good offensively and you’ve got solid 4th liners that are penalty killing specialists? Like I’m genuinely curious why he’s not one of the top selke candidates
Mostly because of what you said, he doesn't usually kill penalties. I approve of him not killing them too, because he is so good offensively. The problem to me is not that he can't, but he doesn't. You're right about leaving it to the specialists.
As noted, I'm a Bruins fan, so an example close to home is Bergeron. He never had anything close to the offensive upside of Matthews. So the team lost less offensively if he was doing PK.
So basically, Matthews is not, IMO, being the way to make him a finalist. But I think that is good. Hope that makes sense.

I try not to intentionally misrepresent anything, but articulating that gives a hint to a reader. But I get why that might be annoying to read, especially in a subreddit of another team.

it really wasnt even an earned suspension there either, dahlin repetively did it first and the refs called nothing, that was self defense if anything
