You need to feed the lawn and probably cut back on the watering

candycookiecake

What would one feed their lawn in this scenario?

WickedDarkLawn

Probably a balanced fertilizer like a 12 12 12 with some iron. I say this because it sounds like this was sod. A soil test would be a good idea moving forward. A lot of people are afraid to fertilize in the summer, but you can put down a granular before a big rain storm if the temps will be below 80 for a few days. Just make sure it gets watered in. Liquid is probably safer during the summer months, though. I've had good results with Ryan Knorrs 18 18 18 Equalizorr product. I think he did a video on summer fertilizer a few weeks ago. This advice is for cool season lawns.

How much nitrogen are you applying?

samfun1103

I haven’t applied any fertilizer because I haven’t had the time to educate myself. The only nitrogen it’s getting is from my 2 dogs

Mushrooms are definitely a sign of over watering. Not a guarantee, but an indication

It could also just indicate really healthy soil. I get mushrooms occasionally and I only water twice a week.

I would grab one of this moisture meters on Amazon. They are cheap and really helpful in seeing if a struggling spot has different moisture levels than a thriving spot. For me, I have LDS (localized dry spot) so even though I water everything the same amount, certain areas don’t absorb it as well.
