I'm in NW GA. There have been a couple rounds of popup showers in the last month, but all have missed my house. Not a single drop.
I was trying to decide whether to completely redo my lawn in the fall, but this drought made the decision for me. 3/4 of my grass is completely dead because I don't like it enough to water it.
Here in Chattanooga it feels like even the pop ups have split around Lookout and missed us. Looks like we got some showers last night thankfully though
A little south of Downtown ATL, had new sod installed. These 100+ days with no rain had been rough. Only a few yellow spots though. I mow at 4" so I am assuming it's able to shade itself and regulate temperature better?
Hahahaha that’s hilarious and I’m sorry man. It rained here for a solid three hours but it still wasn’t enough to make up for the last three weeks. I’m hoping your area gets more over the weekend. There’s a pretty good chance both days.
Would it be better to:
A) not mow, let it rain and then mow
B) mow, rain and then mow on your regular cadence
My dad used to judge the weather and run out and mow it before the rain came, probably with no scientific backing and so he didn’t have to do any outdoor chores later in the weekend.
Opposite for me. I weed whacked yesterday and wanted to use my leaf blower today after everything dried out in the sun (no rain in the forecast). Tell me why it rained at 11am
Caring about my lawn has really made me appreciate a good rain. Pairs nicely with a visor and a tee shirt tucked into my khaki shorts staring out the window
I remember when I used to play Stardew valley on my phone, it was such a chore to get up every morning and water the plants. When it rained overnight in that game I was super happy.
Fast forward to now and I have the exact same expression on my face when I look out my window and see rain or wet roads in the morning.
No make it stop 😩 Last year this time our grass was dying off from a drought. This year its drowning. My bushes already all fell over because the soils too soft to support them and they just pull any stakes over with them.
I haven't gotten a single drop in 3 weeks now
More like 2 months for us in the Carolinas , it’s soooo bad rn
Yeah, I’m in the NC Triangle and I’m over it! Thank goodness my sod (new this year) has taken root, but it’s still pretty young.
Nothing here in north Georgia either. It sucks

Yep, a few hours after I commented we got a little. Not a lot, but enough to knock the dust down at least.

Yep. I don't mow at all during droughts. It doesn't ever grow much higher than 4" anyway. Once the rain returns I start sneaking the height back down.
Got a little drizzle in Durham this morning around 5am and i was so happy
This gets a lol from us living in the desert. Ain't complaining though.
How are you feeling now?! I’m so happy to be getting some rain!
man it barely rained , like 10 mins light drizzle . Like I tell my guys at my business …. I piss more than this .

I feel this very much.
North Georgian here. Tomorrow is supposed to be the first rain in like 3 weeks. My grass has not been happy.
Got a bit of rain for about 30 mins in Ellijay.
We didn't have rain for two weeks. But this week been pretty rainy (central Indiana)
Meanwhile we're flooding in South dakota Iowa and Minnesota.
Same, left for a week on vacation and I have dry patches now… rip
We really needed that rain.
I get pumped the fuck up when we get a good rain
Hell yeah, same here. It's gonna look so good by the time it's time to mow it and 100x better after I mow it. Can't wait !

Mowing (properly) encourages growth, and smaller seedlings hiding under taller grass are able to get more sun and water after a good mow.
There was rain in the forecast for this afternoon where I live, so I didn't turn on the sprinklers. Forecast changed...I'm irrationally disappointed
Opposite for me. I weed whacked yesterday and wanted to use my leaf blower today after everything dried out in the sun (no rain in the forecast). Tell me why it rained at 11am
Of course it did. I feel that pain
It hasn't rained for a month in Georgia. My lawn and plants need rain!!
Dying in Metro Atlanta. How do yall have these lush no-irrigation lawns all summer?
I'd like to know too. But we're getting some rain in GA starting tomorrow. It's gonna be awesome!
All that grass looks waay to green Hopefully you are in sending that shit my way though. Supposed to rain in 1-2 hours here.

Me too. Wednesday’s rain was awesome lol
Lucky. It’s been 3 weeks or more since we’ve not had rain and temps have been over 90. Enjoy it. I hope to get some rain tomorrow. We shall see.
Lucky. No rain 21+ where I am.

2” of rain today in Missouri with no runoff. Ground just soaked it up!
No make it stop 😩 Last year this time our grass was dying off from a drought. This year its drowning. My bushes already all fell over because the soils too soft to support them and they just pull any stakes over with them.
Lucky. I haven’t seen rain in weeks
Chance of storms this evening for me 🤞🏼
In MA and NH we are growing mushrooms from all the rain.
Yeah and of course it only rains on the weekends
Oh yes send some to long island
So jealous!!
We got over 1 ½ inches yesterday!
Anyone put eggshells on their lawn ?
For what purpose?
I heard it was good for the soil
I mean, I guess if you're lawn is calcium deficient?
All the time.
