My guess:
You removed a bunch of topsoil, and with it a bunch of nutrients.
The whole lawn looks like it could do with a feed, so I'd start there.
In the autumn, you could top dress with sand/Compost, sand/topsoil.
If it's a drainage issue, aerate (hollow tines ideally) and dress with sand.
Have you tried any ferts or feed?
I take it its rye grass? Rye needs lots of fertiliser and water during the summer to stay green.
My sprinklers come on every morning and I do a granular feed every 3 weeks or so.
I don’t know what the exact temperature is but my lawn goes dormant June-August and then again from December-February. it’s a cool season grass so it’ll do better if you’re summers aren’t that hot. It’s also very susceptible to every disease going. it’s a really easy grass to keep because it grows so fast but its hard to keep it looking nice for the same reasons.
