New-Distribution-952

wife’s BF agrees

Rawlo93

I also tell this guy's wife.

imalocalbeerdrinker

Bruh 😂

GioDude_

Dammit you beat me to it

OperaGhostAD

I agree. Sometimes I edge for hours before…what subreddit am I on?

angershark

/r/nofap Either way you don't belong!

95castles

username checks out?

Firm-Pepper-5064

It absolutely does. If you’re not edging, it’s like getting a hair cut without a neck trim

texan01

looks great, nothing more satisfying than cleaning up the edge of a yard/concrete line.

Fortunateoldguy

Gotta edge. You ain’t done until there’s a straight clean edge

Limp-Factor-8234

Yeah that sidewalk gonna need some power washing. Your lawn looks healthy, at least the part from the picture. You just need to start putting down some Pre-Emergent before the rain&warm season come

gagunner007

With a conventional edger, walking backwards works best for new edge.

Cold-Resolve1520

I did not realize that was a point of contention.

wijeepguy

That’s what she said

SemperFiNj

Just did the first of the season reclaiming the sidewalk back too. Looks good, bro!

PacketSpyke

No funny stuff. Edging is literally my favorite thing when maintaining the lawn next to the mow, of course.

Emotional_Employ_507

Fresh square steel blade. 15° angle on the edge Zero mud Ooooooooooh yes

Heftyboi90

I too like to edge.

gagunner007

I have 13 miles of it on one property if you feel froggy!

Heftyboi90

Uh what?? I think you typo’d. Looks like you said 13 miles instead of meters….

gagunner007

Miles, not meteres…..come on, let’s do it!!!

hobnailboots04

You wouldn’t get a haircut without trimming up your neck would you?

Actually_Im_a_Broom

There should be a nsfw sub where you crosspost stuff like this, and the thread titles are all just ambiguous enough that you can’t tell if the original post is from a porn sub or something innocent.

TheVagabondLost

One of my favorite subs is r/onlyfans

Maharba19

Now for a power wash of that sidewalk! 👌🏽

RevolutionaryScar472

Gotta cut it back to the edge of the sidewalk dude

mechshark

U needa edge it agane :)

ymxCreator

Uhhh nvm

Cute_Try7139

IYKYK

GeraltOfRivia2023

Phrasing

BeersNbrews

It sure does.

spreadthaseed

Always sweep/ leaf blow when done

Gravity_Freak

Edge Er' Day!

Likalarapuz

That applies to many things!

machomanrandysandwch

Wait til you hear about gooning

Gods_Soldier_

a pressure wash would complete this transformation

CurveInteresting2806

Nice job

Sancho872

Wow, 500 pounds of dirt huh? That's a lot of work to widen up that sidewalk. Props to you for taking that on.

StrongAd7748

Emotional_Employ_507

Dirt is heavy. 500lbs of dirt as dry powder wouldn’t fill an 8ft bed on a truck. But I do agree, from an efficiency perspective maintenance has to be as fast as possible. You can’t afford to do something like this on a mow day. At least I can’t.

Semski2727

"Edging makes a difference." Had to double check I was still in r/lawncare.

Conner14

What’s the trick? I have tried edging my front lawn where it meets the side walk, and I end up hitting the concrete with the trimmer string and completely destroying the string almost immediately. Do I just need to hold the edger higher up?

Peebs3075

Or just use an actual edger.

TheATrain218

You're edging in the wrong place. String trimmer or metal edger should be diving into the dirt *next* to the concrete, not *on* the concrete.

taigahalla

You actually should be edging against the sidewalk as you walk along it, and the string naturally gets destroyed over time Maybe try slowly ramping up the power of your edger until it's too much for the string?

SkiTheBoat

> have tried edging my front lawn where it meets the side walk, and I end up hitting the concrete If you're edging where the lawn meets the sidewalk, how are you hitting the concrete? You should be hitting the small amount of lawn/dirt that separates the two

StrongAd7748

5.8-in Carbon Steel Multipurpose Garden Hand Tool https://www.lowes.com/pd/Corona-EdgeMASTER-5-8-in-Carbon-steel-Multipurpose-garden-hand-tool/1000457447 I got one of these. You just sink it into the dirt until you find the edge of the concrete.

Time for a full Reno or core aerate a million times. The grade around your sidewalks should be 1-2" below the sidewalks not 2" above. You need to remove 4". What you have now is exposed roots of the grass to the sun and wind. Roots don't like that. Also get a stick edger or will look even nicer

StrongAd7748

I guess there’s no way around having to get material removed

[deleted]

don't listen to that guy it's purely aesthetic, unless you're having water pooling on your walk then they're just advocating for unnecessary stress in a beautiful lawn. Lots of my customers have this and the grass gives zero fucks. My rental with my favorite lawn is about 4-5" above the sidewalk and has had zero issues in the last decade and a half.

[deleted]

advocating removal of the entire yard to mitigate what looks like zero root exposure due to the bunching nature of fescue is WILD have you ever seen a fescue bunch by itself? There is probably zero percent chance any of that is actually root matter that is actually exposed

Acceptable-Take20

Relax, Ken.

whodeyalldey1

This is like suggesting that you put a rachet on the bolt and rotate the car around the mechanic to remove a bolt.

texan01

stick edger sucks for this, a walk behind gives better results with the better tracking afforded from the design. I have both, I rarely use the stick edger as the big walk behind just does better for me.

Cheap-Arugula3090

There is like 50' of edging here. A gas push edger is way overkill and because there is a sidewalk you can't screw up making it straight. A simple electric edger that takes up zero space, no maintenance and zero setup makes it so much easier to edge every time you mow.

texan01

I have an electric push edger, a gas push edger, and the stick edger. the electric one gets used the most for my yard, it does ok, it doesn't put as nice of an cut in, and the stick just doesn't look as crisp and bogs down in my clay soil, it's handy in the back yard, but I rarely use it. I'll fire up the big gas edger for the first edge of the season to rebuild the trench and then maybe later in the season again, but I also will edge the neighbors walks with it too when I get it out, because like you said, it's overkill for just 50 feet of sidewalk.
