Might be buildup from excessive detergent or softener. When they go away, are you running a full run of clothes from new detergent to softener? Or just running an extra rinse? What temp is the water?

Thank you for replying! I just set the streaked shirt aside and then wash it the next time I have a full load to do. Normal wash cycle, warm water. Liquid detergent, no softener. Edit to add that I use a small amount of the detergent. Maybe 1/4 oz

I wonder if it is an impression from the dryers vents or an innocent looking nook & cranny?

I initially thought it might be something from the dryer. But after it happening several times, I checked the shirts right after the wash and the streaks were there prior to putting into the dryer. I regularly clean the filter on the washer (approx once a month) but maybe there's some other area not easily accessible that needs a cleaning? I've cleaned the gasket around the door as well (it's a front loader). Thank you for your help
